Who is looking like the best 3yo headed into the Kentucky Derby?
@@TrustTheProphets In answer to your question, I think that the most recent winners are shining, Citizen Bull, the Burnham horse, and Tappan Street are looking great, can’t wait to see Barnes race again!!! I also want to see Hill Road, and Sovereignty, Hypnos or Hypnus and Donut God!!! But, as I mentioned, it’s too wide open right now to zero in on anyone!!!
La única nota discordante de la lista, fue colocar a citizen bul de número 2, debería de estar de primero hasta ahora, aunque falta mucho camino al Kentucky Derby, mis favoritos son Barnes y sanman
Some of us had Citizen Bull #1 some had others. He was edged out this time.
Burnham Square is the one. Tappan Street finished 9-1/4 lengths clear of third and Burnham Square passed him like he was tied to a post.
It was an impressive finish! Dunno how it will stack up going forward but he looked VERY good down the stretch.
I know Bob Baffert definitely wants to prove something this year.
Kevin, I feel like he wants to prove something every year! Especially the years where he is banned from running!
But I'm sure he would love nothing more than to win the year he returns to Churchill Downs.
citizen bull ,,barnes or east avenue would be my guess right now
Great group!
We have some real talent here!
Its starting to shape up for sure.
I really like the Top 4 right now!!
The turn of foot on Sandman is phenomenal, plus that’s a Tapit horse, not common. Burnam Square went 6 wide and still won impressively. Flip a coin on those two. ✌️
Thanks for checking in Dave!
I'm digging Journalism and Citizen Bull!
You can always throw out any horse that runs at Aqueduct this time of the year.
Last years Remsen duo (Sierra Leone, Dornoch) and the winner of Withers two years ago (Hit Show) would like a word ;)
@TrustTheProphets none of which won the derby correct?
@TrustTheProphets also a little piece of information. You can throw out any horse that broke its maiden at Saratoga on the dirt. Great trivia question who was the last horse to break its maiden at Saratoga on the dirt and then win the derby?
@@jamescox9100 That's only because of the TIMING. ANY horse that breaks his maiden on the dirt in August and comes back to win the Derby the next May is a VERY special horse.
Citizen Bull
Great pick, some of us agree.
Citizen Bull right now. I'm still waiting to see where Rated By Merit will appear and what he does next.
Rated Merit is off the Derby Trail. Agreed on Citizen Bull. At least one of our guys had the Bull #1
Bob Baffert!!!
He's got horses!
Barnes
Yup, we've got him on the list. Would love to see him run two turns in a real field. Hopefully that's coming up soon.
I did bot expect not to see rated by merit in the top 10
Sorry, I re-read you comment-- I think I misunderstood you before.
Rated by Merit is not on the list for a few reasons #1 - the class he has run against (or not run against). He has run in a bunch of not rated stakes races and looked great but he's gotta run on a Derby trail race #2 - Those races would be fine if his times were inline with some of the better horses but they aren't #3 and most importantly, he is hurt right now and OFF the Derby Trail. This was reported by DRF on 1/31 so we took him out of consideration.
@TrustTheProphets I didn't know about the injury. Back to the drawing board for me. Looks like there are a few good stayers to consider.
@TrustTheProphets well hold on, what Jonathons way,
@@justcallmejoe Definitely one to consider! We just haven't seen him since his 2nd place finish in the Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes on 11/30. He is working out at Fair Grounds so they will probably gear him towards something like the Risen Star or Louisiana Derby.
He was certainly on earlier lists we made but with more recent races some horses have overtaken him.
In my opinion, Citizen Bull is the smoothest, most talented horse of ALL of the contenders. HIs stride is effortless, and he looks like a man among boys on the racetrack. Bob is back, with a VENGEANCE!
first report, sandman
I dig it. First Resort laying low - curious to see his next race. He's been working out at Turfway the past few months.
Right now, it’s way too early to ask that question, I won’t know until after the second week of April!! But what you should be asking is Why are the jockeys acting like horse racing is not a competition sport?! They ride their horses like they are not trying to win!! They don’t give their mounts a chance to engage the lead horse, and when they have the momentum coming around the turn , they act like they don’t want to go past the lead horse, now you can tell me if you see it different, but, from what I see, they’re giving up instead of trying to make the race more competitive!!! Does anyone else see what I see? I think that this weekend, we should pay close attention to the way the races are run, and pay close attention to the jockeys!!! People call them professionals, but the way they ride is anything but!!!
Jockeys get a % of the purse it would be Ludacris for any jockey to not want to place as best he can in every race unless they are gambling and there is corruption
@ I agree with you on that, but looking at the riding, while the races are in motion, some of them don’t make their horses switch leads at the top of the stretch, which gives the horse more power to keep going! And notice if a horse is just drafting behind another, to save his energy, the when they reach the top of the stretch, the jockey should be pushing at this time to go by the tiring horse, or horses but, you watch for yourself and let me know if there’s any enthusiasm to push the horse, or to try to make second, or third, or even fourth, cause all those positions get checks!!!
BSquare isn't even in my top twenty. I think Godolphin it's their year just off this. Either that or Baffert
Ha! Some of us were surprised how high a few of our teammates had Burnham Square. It was contentious that he went that high, but process is process.
let me see if understand.
The First 3 pass the post in the Holy Bull were last out MSW winners. The was literally as NW2. Yet the winner is ranked #3.
Let me take this opportunity to educate the personnel at Trust The Prophet on last out MSW winners of the Holy Bull.
Since 1990 there have been 4 last out MSW winners of the Holy Bull. They were Greatest Honor, Harvey Wallbanger, Dialed In and Saratoga Sinner. Only Dialed In made to the KD and he was the surprising favorite. He finished 5th.
When Dialed In won the Holy Bull, the 2nd and 3rd place finishers were not last out MSW winner., The were listed a 2time listed stake winner and a graded stakes winner.
Poster who is undefeated in 3 starts including a win over 9F in a time similar that recorded by Sierra Leone and Dornoch in the 2023 Remsen isn't on the list, But the winner of what turned out to be a NW2 Allowance is ranked at #3.
How can this ranking be justified?
It’s called an opinion Mark. Something you clearly think you’re the only one allowed to have one. Given the history of your posts, you should lower the tone of your “education”. Your picks have routinely proven to be no better than anyone else.
Maybe I should educate you on how parimutuel wagering works and how the entire game is dependent upon differing opinions. Another day perhaps.
It wouldn't be an opinion from Mark if he wasn't drawing a wild correlation. This time of year 2-3 year olds run against a LOT of horses just off their Maiden win. Burnham Square ran against who he ran against.
But for what its worth The Formula also likes Poster, he just didnt hit our group top 10 this time. If he runs well at the Sam F Davis he will likely move up the charts.
@@RidersUpTim Opinions should be formulated on properly analyze facts.
An undefeated May 20th foal, who trains on AW and races on Turf, wins its dirt debut over 9F in 40-degree temperature. Poster had to overcome far more challenges than Burnham Square who took 3 starts to break his maiden.
Poster won the Remsen in 1:50.37. Dornoch and Sierre Leone were noses apart in the 2023 Remsen completed in 1:50.30. Captain Cook won the Wither in 1:51.83 and he makes the cut at #10. How can TTP not open itself to ridicule for including Captain Cook and excluding Poster?
Poster easily defeated Coal Battle on turf. Coal Battle returned to win the Springboard Mile over Speed King and then won the Smarty Jones. Speed King won the Southwest. The 2nd and 3rd place finishers behind Burnham Suare were last out MSW winner and he is ranked at #3.
Tim, you might not like my style, but I call BS when I either see or hear it.
How and the hell do you have East Avenue #1? Please explain? East coast bias at full throttle right now.
It's a collaboration to come up with the top 10s More points went to East Avenue this time around (great horse and worthy of #1 right now) than the other horses. Simple as that. There is as much East Coast Bias in our picks as there is West Coast Victim Complex in your post.
A better question is how do you not show East Coast bias when Citizen Bull essentially only ran against stable mates and Baffert made one of them run against his preferred running style so as not to pressure Citizen Bull?!
I have the horse rated highly but there is no way he gets the easy fractions he’s had in his last two races in the KY Derby or any of the bigger preps that occur later.
That’s my opinion and you are certainly entitled to yours.
Barnes
Lotta people love this horse. I get it. I just want to see him against competition.
Competition and distance are the ? I think he's the real deal so will see
