      Buzz - thank you. Yes we really are enjoying ourselves. The only downside for me is the travelling to site. I'm hoping it's a passing phase. After a stroke it's very easy to get overwhelmed with so much to do on the day of travel and the same for the return journey. I am just hoping that's all it is and am working hard to overcome it! - Lin

    Years ago an seasoned caravaner told me to spray furniture wax into the gully. The awning goes through a treat.

      It was fine. As was getting up the air awning this time. (Last time it leaked.) A handy bit of kit. The weather has been so hot over the last few weeks that we left the awning off as it made the 'van stuffy.

      Thank you so much for commenting. They were in the days of big learning curves for us, with me after my stroke and Rich with a bad back we muddled through. We've never tried to be anything but ourselves, warts and all. We are still having fun but now in a motorhome. The divorce in a bag has now been replaced by an air gazebo so much more civilised these days lol ~ Lin

    Hi both, thanks for sharing your vid. I have to say I love our air awning, so much less messing about than our poled awning.
    Little tip: to save the struggle of reaching the rail, use your step. On a separate note, how are you getting on with the new car? Andy

    • @HomefromHomewithLinRich
      @HomefromHomewithLinRich  7 років тому +1

      Thanks Andy. Where do you mean to use the step? The car is great thanks. We love it. All my friends are hoping that I get the all clear to drive again from the Stroke Dr. So I can give them all a lift home after drinky poos lol. The only time I drink is at the caravan, so it goes straight to my head as demonstrated on the vids lol

    Thank you guys for making these videos. I know what you mean in the title, my wife HATES putting up the awning. We're still on old poles and thinking of buying a new air awning, would you buy one again, is it any advantage or just a modern touch? I'm afraid of the cost to buy and also the cost of repairs.

    • @HomefromHomewithLinRich
      @HomefromHomewithLinRich  7 років тому

      Hi and thanks for your comment. Funnily enough Rich and I were only talking about this today. We absolutely love the Air Awning but wish we had gone for a smaller size. We are thinking about getting a small one for the winter as we wouldn't be sitting out there but want something to wipe the dog and change our shoes. This one is so heavy. Should have gone for the 400 for summer. I think like all things we will find the knack of doing it. We will try and film it next trip with everything attached and see how that goes.

    Lin & Rich great video & a good demo for people who struggle to put an awning up if not as abled as others. I currently have an Isabella Magnum with annexe & I am seriously considering a Kampa Air Ace Pro 500 what are your thoughts on this awning for weather in particular windy weather & in general what are your thoughts on the awning ? Reason for asking I like your vids I know subscribe & trust your opinion. I look forward to your reply. ( just had 3 weeks in Cornwall loved every minute, quite windy, rainy but loved it also meteor shower & at 3am two unidentified flying objects totally sober)

    • @HomefromHomewithLinRich
      @HomefromHomewithLinRich  7 років тому

      Tee Pee Thank you so much for your comment. In our experience the Kampa Air Ace Pro (Pro meaning it's made of a stronger material) is great. It was a lot easier with the awning buddy and there is another video that's shows on our third attempt how we get it right. We would say that it stands up really well to high winds although we have added storm straps just to make sure. We've found that the poles just move with wind so there is no strain as there would be with poles bending as with conventional awnings. You were very lucky to see meteors during the earth passing through the perseids. I usually camp out in the garden on the lounger to watch but unfortunately it was too cloudy here. One year I actually saw a fireball and reported it to the astronomical society which they logged. It was the most thrilling thing to see. I've also witnessed meteors that actually make sounds. As for your UFO's what did they look like? How exciting!

    • @teepee4296
      @teepee4296 7 років тому +1

      Home from Home with Lin & Rich Yes I heard it was the Perseids, the first one I saw it was dusk & I was talking to my temporary neighbour before he left that evening & couldn't understand what I had just seen (meteor) it was so low in the atmosphere & only seemed like a hundred feet above unless it was higher & larger then we saw a couple more & then as the night fell saw them most of the evening out of the fixed bed sunroof until we retired around 11pm. As for the UFO's they were Friday night around 3am I woke up looking at the stars through the same roof saw satellites, the odd cloud passing no meteors then two parallel bright lights in our airspace much faster than a plane but not quite as fast as a shooting start pass over. These were craft not debris the meteors the fire was at the rear these were bright white lights in such parallel that they were craft. I am always sceptical until I have actual proof witnessing with my own eyes then I make my decision & I am 99% that these were UFO no noise at all. I am a level headed sane person. I am so pleased I saw these it confirms my open mindedness. thanks for the info on the awning I think a 500 for next year 👍

    Surely with TWO PEOPLE all you need is a snap tackle and a piece of rope one pulls the rope and one feed it. Far cheaper than the KIT from Kampa. AND QUICKER. Maybe the kit would be OK for a single person . But with two my idea is best and cheapest

      I did not mean to offend I did not realize this was the reason it was being used. I thought you where just testing the product.
      Air awnings although easier to erect, and safer (I have a dent in my caravan from a pole to prove this) They are very heavy to pull through the awning.
      Watch the videos from Attwools the method they use to pull the awning through is much easier than any other way I have found.
      Cheers

    I have a kampa 390 air , the wife feeds it into the rail and I pull it , it its in position in 2 or 3 mins . I don't get the awning buddy , to me it makes a simple job more complicated. On a lighter note .. how can it be raining people ? 😂😂

      @HomefromHomewithLinRich  7 років тому

      Scott Irons lol about the raining people but believe me when those heavens opens I thought it WAS raining people lol. Yes I take on board what you are saying but our awning being that much bigger makes it so much heavier. And because of my stroke I only have one arm that's any good. Rich had also fallen 8 feet off a ladder a couple of weeks earlier so we are a right helpless pair together! lol. If like us people are in their 60s the awning buddy is a Godsend. Good grief that is a terrible design I think my husband would not be putting awning up if he had to use that
    Its more hassle than its worth having to thread it all the way through awning rail
    Take a look at the
    Kampa Easy Awning Pulley its a lot easier and awning on rail in less than a minute
    There are videos on you tube showing how easy it is to use

      Ten out of ten. Yes you are correct this is Waldegraves. I have a really soft spot for Waldegraves because we took a seasonal pitch there for two years and had some wonderful times. We have a Motorhome now so hope to go back this year for a few days. Do you like it there? ~ Lin

      Yeah if you dont know me you would think I'd need a slap lol. I couldn't help due to my limited mobility after having a stroke (see further videos). It was very frustrating for both of us to try and get that awning up. But maybe a slap might of helped? lol

    What a waste of time that peice of kit is. The time it take to thread awning buddy in you could have just thread in awning. Lol

      Lol This was a long time ago when Rich had a bad back and I hadn’t long had a stroke so we wanted to show our friends that it could be done (those that knew us) and 65,000 views later we still get comments lol. Thank you for watching ~ Lin

      Everyone is entitled to their opinion Ken and it must be so lovely to be able to put up an awning without any aids. Yes I agree with you it must seem like a joke when you are fit and able and I really do hope your good health continues for many years. I have had a stroke and Rich has a bad back (not looking for sympathy) so we just want to show that it is possible to carry on with a smile.
