  • For Fall 2012, McQueen's creative director, Sarah Burton, focused on a 'futuristic' show that emphasized 'lightness': "The future's usually shown as stark and cold," said Burton. "I wanted lightness, the sense that the dresses were hovering." Intentionally or not, the colour scheme of the collection was reversed from the traditional: it gradually progressed from pure white, to pink, and on to the deeper tones of red, ending with the (unusual) finale of black (instead of the traditional white).
The venue chosen for the show was the Salle Wagram, the same venue that McQueen had previously used for his Spring/Summer 2004 collection, "Deliverance" (shown in October of 2003), which was based on the movie "They Shoot Horses, Don't They?".
