Hi Godis. For the time being I will always post half of the tutorial to UA-cam and the rest will remain only on Patreon (and a website is in the pipeline too). It is part of a deal I made with Tommy's management as not to torpedo his own teaching business. I am looking at the possibility to buy single tutorials on the website too, but this will take a while before it is online...
Thank you so much for this fantastic tutorial and your efford devoted to it Tim !!!, I purchased the tabs yesterday and have something to struggle with for comming months but the song is so great that I will not give up before I can play it well. I´m so happy for your perfect lesson as those done by Tommy are still too fast for me and not enough detailed as I´m a complete beginner when it comes to thumb picking but it is IMHO the most beautiful way of playing
I totally agree Pavel! This is one of the most rewarding styles of music out there. Just take it slow and focus on playing relaxed in both left and right hands before even trying to speed anything up. Don’t worry about volume, even if you pick lightly it will still be more than loud enough. Good luck, and I’ll see/hear you down the road 😜
@@TimVanRoy Thank so much for the answer and all the advices Tim, yesterday I joined your Patreon to support you at least a little in your great efford and fantastic tutorials. Really appreciate that you find the time to answer anyone who asks you about something. I just falled in love with finger picking and will definitely focus only on this style for the future. Could you please advise on one more thing ... it´s far more easier for me to play this style with using steel finger picks (with the plastick thumb one) and I can get quite a decent sound without ugly scratches etc. Do you see any main disadvantage-limitations if I keep learning to play only with finger picks or it´s a possible way too? I know that the sound will never be as natural and pleasant as bare fingers but it feels so much easier for me... Thanks a lot!
@@pavelstrnad1212 Hi Pavel! Fingerpicks always felt very strange for me, so after trying them I always moved away from them. I always play without fingernails so the use of fingerpicks would have its benefits. But you can be a killer fingerstyle player while using those steel fingerpicks! Just have a quick look at fingerstyle pioneer (and fellow Belgian) Jacques Stotzem. He has been using fingerpicks his whole carreer and he makes it sound great!
@@TimVanRoy Thanks so much Tim, what a relief to hear from such a great guitar player like you that I have a chance even with finger picks:-) Im able to play much faster with them so I will keep trying. Once more a BIG THANK for what you are doing, your page is a real treasury of know how and inspiration. Take care pal ... cannot wait for all your future tutorials
I think that one is a bit outside of my usual material. I have been thinking about doing some electric work too, but right now I'm really enjoying working on the acoustic stuff!
Tim, i was a subscriber on patron. Could do with a newseltter on TE songs currently covered. I broke my wrist so had to un sub. But now i dont know whats in the paid liabrary regards John
Hi John! Sorry to hear about the wrist! It’s not “official” yet, but go ahead and check out timvanroy.com! The “songs” page is going to give you an overview of everything I’ve done (content on Patreon is the same).
The only YT channel where I don't skip the ads

Hey Tim, nice tutorial as always. How would you rate this in terms of difficulty compared to Luttrell or Mr Sandman?
Love the videos! Any chance you could try the intro blues riff to “letter to the city” by lil migo?
