That hair mask is awesome, I use it all the time. What I do is add a bit of my own hair dye so it prolongs my hair colour. I also add a couple of drops of hair oil to the mask as well. You did well. You would love the thrift stores over here in tokyo. The fill a bag sales are awesome.

I've seen people repair cracked/peeling vinyl by just stripping it off and repainting it. Doesn't have the same glossy finish though. Maybe something like a plastidip paint could work to keep a similar texture/look?
