Aiyima B07 Amplifier Review!

- This is a look at the inside of this amp and my subjective review of it's performance after some real world use! TL;DR: It's a great choice for a small home theater/entertainment/gaming system 2.1 setup for use with a passive sub. For audiophile use, I would find another solution i.e the Aiyima A70 upgraded with some Sparkos Op-Amps and a mono amp for the sub or just buy a powered sub..

This was not a bad review. It was an honest review. For certain applications, you recommended it highly. For inappropriate applications, you pointed out that it would be disappointing if it were to be used.
Correct! For a "Jr home theater", it would be awesome and in fact, I'm probably gonna set it up for that with my GR Mini speakers and a DIY sub.
@@SkunkieDesignsElectronics Danny has line-level high-pass filters built for this purpose, but you'd have to use a preamp with a separate subwoofer output.
@@1mctous Those high-pass filter should work great for this application. In fact, I would love to see them reviewed.
@EskWIRED But if you line level high pass filter the input, the sub out wouldn't work. It has to exist between the pre-amp stage and the signal sent to the mains amp and can't exist on the signal sent to the sub amp. You can't do it externally on this amp.
@@SkunkieDesignsElectronics what would happen if capacitors and such were to be attached between the amplifier output and the speaker input?

I'm interested in one of these for a bedroom 2.1 setup. Right now I use a DIY tda7498e amp with a cheap plate amp for my DIY 8" subwoofer. I mainly use it for watching TV but do occasionally listen to music as well. This would replace 2 separate amps with 2 separate PSUs and should be a boost in power output as well. I do agree that Aiyima and other makers of these boards need to be implementing a high pass filter into the design. I have been using a pair of speakers with passive crossovers inside but I have a pair of DIY speakers without any crossovers that would benefit from a built in HPF.

Yeah, it seems basic to me but none of these devices do this.
REL subwoofers have a high-level input that connects directly to the speaker outputs of an amp. In fact, it's the connection that REL recommends, even though their subs also have a low level input for connection to the sub out of a pre-amp or integrated amp. Their philosophy is that connecting to the amps speaker outputs is that the sound then takes on the sound characteristic of the amplifier it's connected to and consequently blends in much better sound-wise with the main speakers. REL also goes on to explain that by using the low-level pre-amp outputs, this can also introduce time alignment problems, which, logically, makes perfect sense.
? None of that makes sense including, "... consequently blends in much better sound-wise with the main speakers." There is no such rule or even implication in hifi physics that would support such an ad claim generically.
100% agree on the high pass option! I fail to see the point of a speaker, any speaker, having to deal with frequencies below what it is capable of reproducing. All those frequencies do, is muddy the output of a speaker.
Yeah, hopefully they will listen to consumers and start doing this. Like if you turn this all the way down, you can use it as a full range amp. As you turn the knob up it moves the sub low pass frequency AND then main speaker high pass frequency filters up in tandem.

Have an old passive sub in storage. Not sure what brand.
Do you prefer the sound of solid state rectifier or tubes if you find a difference at all. Also what about LCLC or RC RC power supply designs
I've done both, mainly I like indirectly heated rectifiers for the slow voltage ramp. I do like CLCRC but my 300B has a split rail CLCLC with each channel on it's own second choke.
