I actually just purchased a classic maple shell pack ( 12, 14, 20) a week ago because i was really digging the sounds carter gets and wanted to see what luddies we're all about......needless to say i will be shelving the rest of my drums for awhile 😊
@@williamperri3437 I think it's comes down to the toms. They're just not what my ears and head hear when I imagine what my ideal tom sound is. I liked them in the medium high+ ranges, but in the lower tuning ranges they never clicked for me. But I've played some vintage Ludwigs with different bearing edges & bigger sizes that were killer in lower tuning ranges. Idk, I'm too picky I guess. I need to find my ideal tom sound and try pairing with their kicks and snares, cuz man Ludwig has sure got kicks and snares right.
@@williamperri3437 I currently have a Catalina in my arsenal (20, 14, 12). Good little kit. I owned a Tama Starclassic birch for many years and put a LOT of miles on it. Loved it. Tama makes fantastic stuff.
@@williamperri3437 I haven't played Remo heads in about 20 years. I use Evans, but I am fond of Aquarians regulator reso head on some of my kick drums.
This is my favourite video yet, kit sounds amazing! That Roto tom though... gotta get me one of those!! Also I know you're messing about, but I love the edit-free video.
I was given a Standard 16” floor tom and snare and managed to find a 12”. The bass drums are really hard to find unfortunately. Hopefully I’ll have a mixed strata kit sometime in the future.
Wow, the sounds I'm hearing are awesome! I have a Standard series. I tried the pedals but wore through three of them and got something modern. But I love my set. It's nice to see you loving the same series here too.
That is some wicked playing, and those Ludwigs sound fantastic. I happen to own a 24 kick, a 15 inch tom and a 16 inch tom of the Standard series. Warm, round, punchy sound.
How are you recording this? I don't see any mic's. With what microphones and through what preamps and any processing involved? Thanks - Love your sound!!
Love your playing!!! Just curious why you chose to get the same sizes as the vintage red kit you have as well? That snare is amazing!!! I might pick up the 5 inch version of it!
I'll tell ya what that's a nice kit but that 16 Roto tom oh my,I forgot how great these larger sizes sounded Carter. I have gretsch 4 piece kit and I know what I'm going to be looking for.A16 " for a mini gong bass. May I ask what head you have on that?
How the hell do you get these drums, its the best shit ever, its deep, crisp, and theres no annoying ringing shit, you dont even have moon gel on them, your a damn wizard.
I know you asked him, but just thought I’d help out. They are Ludwig Standard. A discounted line from the 60’s or 70’s that we’re designed to be an affordable name brand option.
As someone else mentioned, these are vintage drums from Ludwig’s Maple/Poplar/Maple era. The shells are essentially Ludwig’s Legacy Maple line that they’re making today. Carter’s green kit is that configuration, so that should give you a good idea of what they’ll sound like tuned up! The Standard really is incredible, but a 12/14/20 setup is a bit tough to come by
Ludwig kick drums are tops in my book. I sold a classic maple kit last year (20” kick) and I haven’t been the same since.
Aaron Martin dude same. We should start a support group.

That is one of the best sounding snares I ever heard! Entire kit sounds incredible, but that snare is really something special
That great Ludwig sound is spectacular. Ludwig the Standard in sound! Great playing as well.
It’s all about the player! Drummers if you’re looking for the cat to copy, look no further....
This is my favourite video yet, kit sounds amazing! That Roto tom though... gotta get me one of those!! Also I know you're messing about, but I love the edit-free video.
wow...tht is a rack tom!!! just great drum sound...then the snare tightened up and WOW,,,
Man, that drum kit sounds terrific! Nice chops too!
You always make me want to practice. Very inspiring. Thank you!
Those drums resonance sweetly and to me have a quality as good as any other out there….
The beginning groove reminds me of Gadd and Ralph Peterson! Very cool
Man that big Roto. Holy cow. Christmas list.
My Ludwig Standard set is one of the best kits I own. They sound great; 13/16/22.
wow, these drums SPEAK man. punchy, clear, warm - and sizes you could play in the city! thanks for the inspiration

DUUUDE never thought rototoms could sound that good!
that kit is fucking gorgeous
Grats on the new kit. Sounding great
WHAT A SOUND¡..... that toms are insane
I get much enjoyment from watching you jam. Great vintage kit👍🏼
My god that sounds slick, Mr. McLean
That is some wicked playing, and those Ludwigs sound fantastic. I happen to own a 24 kick, a 15 inch tom and a 16 inch tom of the Standard series. Warm, round, punchy sound.
Beautiful kit, and you always have extraordinary cymbals!
Super batteur, super feeling, super kit...
why do the toms sound as if they've been close mics, but there's no mics?
It's the earth works mics, omni pickup patterns don't have a proximity effect!
Sounds just WOW
Carter, você é fantástico
Holy SHEEYIT. That kick if fire. Definitely my next kit purchase. "Rototoms- YES" = new catchphrase?
@Grant Sage Yea, I've been using KaldroStream for since december myself :)
@Grant Sage Yea, I have been using kaldroStream for since december myself =)
@Grant Sage Yup, have been using kaldrostream for years myself :D
Nice drums, nice playing.
kit sounds great,,,and as always ,,some tasteful drumming
What's your head combination here? Are they Ambassadors on top or Emperors?
How are you recording this? I don't see any mic's. With what microphones and through what preamps and any processing involved? Thanks - Love your sound!!
Very nice. Grande roto Tom & timbale life too 👌🏽
wow... when you took the mute off the snare !
That classic tone
DAMNNNN THOSE TOMS
Very nice setup !
I love the hats are they vintage A, great playing style too.
12" Istanbul 30th Anniversary
Maaaan! That thump!
Sweet playing!

Ludwig standards are very cool drums. I’m a long time Luddy fan and I sure wish they had these sets for sale. It’s a shame
It's very hard to get a low tuned snare to sound that good
At a guess is that wide open Diplomat Fiberskyn on front and back of Bass Drum?
Great drumming and a wonderful kit!
What’s the clear batter head on the side snare..?
everything sets off snare buzz!
Isso que é sentir o som maravilhoso da bateria
beautifully!

David Suprenant I think it’s an 18” Roto, from the looks. And yes, rotos sound best 14” & up. IMO.
god almighty these sound fab just got a set like these in grey same pattern
Is the EQd? Sounds processed a lil. If the drums actually sound like this holy fuck amazing sound
Oh my gosh tone for days on those toms. I’m gonna look these up.
That's a fantastic setup!
You will never EVER get a downvote from me.

What heads do you recommend for this kit?
is this a maple ludwig standard? sounds unreal
What line are these drums.. Wow! They sound great. No direct mics on the toms and they soundalike that.. Crazy. Thanks for the video. Awesome as usual
mooreav that are Ludwig Standard. A discontinued line from the 60’s-70’s that were made to be affordable.
Thanks for the information.. interesting!
@@DeadtreeFilms1
Rototoms Yes!
Probably not my favourite Ludwig colour.., but like the sound.
What exactly is that timable snare? Is it home made?
Carter: Are those Classic Maples? Do you recommend CMs for jazz playing? Curious. Great video work, as always!

JESUS THOSE TOMS
Are those Smooth batter heads?
This is amazing how did you record it?
Whats that hihat??
Tight
Sound incredible! What mic set up did use on this?
earthworks
I believe 2 overheads and a kick mic? Judging by what we can see
Is that a "Single Six" tom with the matching interior wrap off to the left of the hi-hat? NICE.
Fantastic.
Ho... what was that what you took off your snare ? A “Steve’s big fat donut” maybe ?
Fantastic kit, but I prefer not thinking of moving and carrying it, so bronze is too weigh!
Choice tone,choice playing cob,cheers
Awesome sounding kit. That 16 roto tom is superb and is a cool alternative ! Siizes of the standard kit ?
Ambassador top and clear diplomat bottom on those toms?
Vintage Ambassador top and clear ambassador bottom
That rototom, tho...
Looks and sounds great! Are you collecting Ludwig drums now?
Casey Johnson he endorses Ludwig!
@@samuelflores5719 is he not endorsing george way any more?
@@handidrummed no, he recently switched to Ludwig
Samuel Flores if he's endorsing Ludwig now any idea why he only has vintage kits?
❤️
750 bucks on Ebay... Boutique drums is just a fad.
He rushed on the 5th kick at the beginning tho..
