This would be a great soundtrack for a horror survival video game set in some Taiga region, or somewhere north of the artic circle where you have limited number of days of sunlight to prepare for 6 months of darkness and all the things that come out then.
have the crew who did creature designs for subnautica make these arctic beasts in a hyper realistic art style for their designs and it will be absolute nightmare fuel
I'm writing a script right now for my cinema classes in college where the short film is going to be set in my hometown in Northern Canada, and the whole idea is that the Sun has basically become lethal to human, not because of heat or anything so there's still snow everywhere. Basically the very few survivors out there are forced to live in the night at all time. And this soundtrack compilation really inspired me. And your comment really reminded me of my very own project.
Many things are clearer and deeper in a cold weather. Even when I'm fed up with winter and wait for spring to return, I know I would feel bad to live in a place where there is no cold season. I would miss this "breathing". Nice music, and great picture as well. The darkness behind theses fir trees is such a veil of mystery...
I’d never be able to live somewhere that did not have lot, grey winters. If the heat didn’t kill me (anything much over 10C is too warm for my liking), the lack of time in winter to introspect and take life more deliberately for a while would.
I retired 13 years ago and I live full time on the road. THIS is why! I have the power to control my weather. It's a great power. I crave the cold because it makes me feel alive! So I travel to the cold even when it's Summer. I enjoy a little bit of warm Summer but then I drive back UP 👆 into the mountains. We are kindred souls - those who understand why cold is important.
ive had 2nd degree frost bite on my ears once. they turned like pizza the next day. all the tissue was falling off. its no joke trust me. toes and you nose and all small limbs go first. then hands and feet freeze up and they have to amputate your limbs. i have all my limbs thankfully but my ears are now 3x as thin as the average persons. if i get frost bite again i could very well lose my entire ear on both sides. always always dress for the weather and prep in case you get stranded
I absolutely love the cold, winter themed ambient stuff you do! One of my favorite experiences was walking through a heavy blizzard in the calm of 4:00am with only the faint lights of the street guiding the way while listening to Ugasanie. Unreal.
Cryo chamber and to the artists involved, I wish to thank you for helping me during introspective moments, through dark times, difficult times, to help me daydream and come up with new creative ideas everyday. Your music is highly therapeutic. You've greatly enhanced my life. Thank you.
When you´re in survival state, other than what you might think of it, there is no great discomfort; no great pain to torture your mind, no cold to freeze your organs and your fingers, no fear to drive you crazy and kill you from within... don´t get me wrong; you´d have every reason to feel those things. But you do not. In survival state there is nothing but the present moment; the rush of adrenaline flooding your veins like fire, the clear mind, focused on just that one destination. No thoughts to distract you, no surroundings to intimidate you. They may be there but you don´t sense them. Because you´re in hyperfocus, in reptilian mode, in the animalistic side of your psyche. There is no fear, just a choice; to live or die, that is your task. In this moment you are not living; you´re just surviving.
May I share with you this dark-ambient side-project about the Gensen Cult in Hokkaido, it's dark and experimental, you might dig it : ua-cam.com/video/GmJc72mO0Tc/v-deo.html

You should check out their album/mix called Cthulhu. It's based on HP Lovecraft's mythos, obviously. It has a very dark ocean feel to it, considering Cthulhu sleeps deep within the sea. They also have other albums/mixes themed after some of the other elder and outer gods in the mythos. Enjoy :)
Cryo Chamber, you guys make some of the best ambience in the world. I have to say, that anytime Iisten to these beautiful compilations, I become so contemplative. I feel so free and secure. I grew up in the rural areas of my country. It was a village at the foot of a mountain, at the edge of the forest. There was no light on the road in front of our house except for 2 street lamps quite far between them. (there would be quite a distance between them in the dark, and our house was within that range.) And at the last point where the light reached, the dark forest would begin. In my country, the toilets in the villages would be outside the houses. When I was a kid, I didn't want to go to the toilet at night. But when I had to go, I would do my best not to look into the forest. Because in that darkness, in that silence behind the trees, I always thought that something was watching me. And I felt that if I made eye contact with that thing, it would attack me. this picture is exactly what I saw outside my house. Dark pines where the light only shines in front and I don't know what's behind
I love listening to this while playing Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild while Link is in a freezing cold part of the map at night and its snowing, or any game I'm playing that has a dark theme to it and its snowing on the game. I play this on my Bluetooth speakers, turn off all lights, make my lights strips glow a very dim soft glow of purple/blue color, really sets the mood of the game.
Heh, I am writing a book as well. I was looking for videos like this one for inspiration of the environment and the atmosphere. Do you have Discord? I would like to discuss our ideas, if you wish. Have an amazing week!

Winter - My beloved season. Cold, clean air, stars in the sky, snow, complete silence in a snowy forest and the light of the moon make me feel alive. I love being in the snow forest, it is like a medicine for everything.

this whole mix is so beautiful. reminds me of the dark and solemn Winters up at my parents house, where they live in a small town surrounded by deep forests and valleys of Muskoka, Ontario Canada. For sure if i was visiting them on any weekend during these winter months, I would be at my dad's thick wood desk working on something late into the night as the gentle but heavy snow falls under the blanket of gentle winds brushing up against the windows to their kitchen and living room of their house they converted into a bed & breakfast.
I literally come to Cryo Chamber's channel for some nice soothing vibes when dosing off to sleep. Thanks you for all of the calm and beautiful nights :)

Then make sure to look up composer Graham Plowman on here- if you haven't- because he has a whole "soundtrack" to MoM.

There was a heavy snow here yesterday and no matter how much I hate the cold weather, I cannot help but admire its beauty.
This music is chilly and haunting, but also snug and comforting. Confusingly well done.

Of course Ugasanie has three in a row. I can't think of another artist better than him when it comes to evoque the feeling of snow, cold and winter.
Once I started mixing Ugasanie in there it got hard to keep from going deeper into the blizzard
Quite fitting name. "Ugasanie" means "decay" or "extinction" in Russian. Something that dying but is not dead yet.
Listen to Wintersun (if you like metal as well).
