  • In today's video, I run a few errands around town, we go to the local lawn mower/ equipment dealers. Compare some of the different landscapes and hardscapes in the area. Talk about some of the business struggles. I also went on my first marketplace adventure in Florida!

No offense and you do you, but I would have rather seen you out hustling this video. Equipment is cool and all but the purpose of you going to florida was to get a winter job up and going. Make it happen capt.! Love the vids

Decades ago I ran a painting and home improvement business with 2 friends. It wasn't intended to be permanent, so we felt we had to get things going quickly too. We found homeowners in a few locations that agreed to hire us for just the material costs. Our stipulation was they had to allow us to put a sign out for 1 month or more. Most agreed to help with word of mouth. We quickly got 1s and 2s in extra jobs that then led to more. We were also the new guys in town. Maybe some strategy along those lines might work for you guys.

Happy Birthday Hedrick!! Consider going 1 hour northeast to Sumter and Lake Counties. 1000's of new houses just waiting for new hardscape and other landscape upgrades!

It strikes me that the piedmont south from AL to NC, places like Atlanta, Charlotte, etc. would have plants and terrain more in keeping with what you are familiar with. Also the season in these places is basically year around. Where I’m speaking of anything to the east or south of the Appalachian’s. FLA is its own unique animal, and the high end spots are hard to crack. It’s sad you guys seem to have come apart. I ran my own landscape business when I was younger, and it was for the reason that you can’t control anyone else’s actions or motivations. You have been so focused and determined all these years. Just understand that your level of conscientiousness is not that common. I think a great manager of a business like your’s is one who figures out how to find a steady supply of great workers, because the great ones are going to more on. But, no worries, a few setbacks are required to move forward. All the best to you!

Here in the Washington DC area, after taking off most of December, the professional landscape crews are starting their spring commercial work and offering their residential customers a discount for early spring clean-up, gutter cleaning, hauling away junk and rotted wood, as well as the grindings if someone had a tree trunk ground out. God Bless.

An issue you may run into in FL is we are very leery of being ripped off. There are many shady vendors down here. We want to pay after the job is complete, using licensed and insured workers.

PEACE, brother. Give yourself a little room to breathe; this is supposed to partially be a vacation. Don't let this ruin your partnership ( even though it is temporary, but if you learn to work together, it could be hugely successful; never know ) or your friendship. OR your experience in Florida, in general.
You guys will find something. It's also good to network, whether it be through youtube, or just going out and organically meeting local landscapers and lawncare providers. You can team up, get referrals, or subcontract for somebody. I wonder if you guys are close to Moreno landscaping or Florida Turf Pros.... Are Al Blades and AP in Florida, too? I think they are....maybe they can help out a fellow youtuber and his partner.
    Have fun, be safe.

If I were you, I would put my ass back in my truck and head back to Michigan. You contradicted yourself. When you say it’s grind time and you need to put 110% Hahah you literally went and spent $500 on wheel spacers bitching about your “partner” not working.

I hope you guys can work out your problems. You will be alot more productive if you are both on the same page. As far as the properties go, I had family in southern Florida and it is quite different than where i am at.(Ct). Since you have equipment with you,You should ask around and see if they are building any new developments in the area. Its Florida, There is always something going on. Maybe you can do some lot clearing or even post construction clean ups or something. Good luck!

It’s very hard to be mature when you brain hasn’t matured yet. However with self awareness it’s possible. I would not be saying “it’s time to get rowdy” after accomplishing very little and would stop going to bonfires/ truck meetups as that’s directly taking energy from your goals
