I didn't really asked for permission for the footage but I wanted to at least give credit to this guy for uploading it. - Комедії
Funny thing is, according to Stirling Moss, this is exactly what Jack Brabham used to do back in the 50's and 60's; he would deliberately throw up muck, gravel and dirt to whoever was following him. It's a tactic learnt from Midget racing on dirt ovals. So it's definitely an Australian thing.

Midgets have produced a lot of talented drivers even to this day. Kyle Larson being the most recent example.
Nigel mansell used to do something similar. He used to deliberately go over bumps to create sparks and annoy the driver behind. Maybe it’s a British Empire thing

Ricciardo did this in Austria (I think) but the lap times of the car behind stayed the same while he lost like a tenth because he went off track. This only messes with the driver behind mentally and has little to no effect to the car.
