It drives me nuts that sportsnet has guys like CJ and Friedman and give guys like Kypreos, Burke. Hrudy and MacLean the bulk of the spotlight.

I really think Morgan Rielly deserves to be captain but man I really agree with CJs case for Mathews and his relationship to babs
Tom Priestley nobody on this roster is worthy of the captaincy. If this team had a real leader, we wouldn’t have sleep walked through the second half and given up in game 7. Matthews? One of the laziest players I’ve ever seen. Marner? Dickhead father and crazy contract demands. Tavares? Simply could not get it done in the playoffs. Reilly? Defensive liability.

The episodes with CJ are undoubtedly my favourite episodes. I wish he wasn't as busy during the regular season that he maybe could come on more often. Quality.

Lived in STL for years and yeah..stay out of downtown. The rest of the city is amazing tho
meh, i was always on kadri's side. the debrusk goof got away with 2 suspendable offences in 1 game (1 on kadri) and kadri tried to revenge those situations, ie: the only guy on the team, besides muzzin, standing up for himself or others.
I guess you also were on Kadri’s side when he laid the knee on knee hit to Rick Nash last year in Game 1 which was even worse then the knee he got from Debrusk, the hit on Marleau was not good those hits shouldn’t be attempted but to sit here and think it’s justified what Kadri did or call out other players for the same things Kadri has done is hypocritical
kadri's real issue is he should've crushed chara's head instead so boston played at their actual size level. once he's gone, they don't exist.

Steve, your theory of Marner signing for 9.99 Million instead of 10 Million doesn't really work. Nylander is 6.69 Million and everyone mentions him making 7 or even 10 (For dumbasses). Genius idea but hasn't worked in practice but might be different with Marner because people like him lol
Nylander's cap hit is around the 6.94m mark, he sat out for a good chunk of the season so his AAV is less but the cap hit still stays. So he's making less because he missed time but the cap hit doesn't show that, he also got bonus money though so it gets more confusing then that.

I think Steve may not have heard Chris at that moment since Adam chimed in right when Chris said "37" the first time. Or maybe Steve wasn't thinking about what Chris was saying and was thinking about something else. I don't know.

If they trade kadri, I'd take him on my Flyers. Ghost as a key piece? They both make 4.5 million with ghost on the books for an extra season. Flyers get the 2nd line center they need so badly, leafs get an offensive Dman who can be paired with a stay at home guy, and work the 2nd powerplay unit.

CJ is great cuz he's their age, has a sense of humor, doesn't take himself too seriously, is knowledgable and not afraid to chip in suddenly. Great pod.
Looking back a year later blaming Naz was the easy way out, the team needed to stand up for its self. Of course hindsight is 20/20 but everybody was acting like he was the sole reason they lost.
Just for an example Mathews and Marner had 57 hits all regular season COMBINED and in the playoffs Mathews had 11 while Marner had 7..... Like come on... Imagine Babcock seeing that? 1 hit a game IN THE PLAYOFFS.... No wonder he had issues in the locker room... As a coach how can you respect players with no grit? "Times have changed bud" Oh really? Go talk to the Blues and Bruins about why they were the last 2 teams standing.

You guys are out of your minds in you this Kadri needs to go...... so what we want a soft team that lets other teams just run are guys? Does he need to learn some control with his decisions yes do he need to think for a second before he reacts yes! But look at every situation that he’s been in, what was the reason he did it? The Bruins(dieters team in the league) throwing a dirty hit and the refs not doing anything so he came to the defence of his teammates. If we get rid of him and don’t add any grit to this team we a screwed. It will be either no playoff appearance or just continues first round exits. Naz needs to stay!

I'm still here 2 hours in CJ. I loved this episode so much more then the last episode. CJ is a great guest would love to see him on more. Also lots to talk about with that Toronto series. I also wanna say I would never have heard of CJ if it wasnt for this podcast. I listen at work in the car and before bed. I have to work everyday and get 0 conversation about sports. These podcasts get me through.

Not even 3 minutes in and I hear this CJ guy saying "Mathews is the king, this is his team, blah blah blah"... Listen to Austin Mathews post-game interviews, watch him play in the playoffs... this isn't a guy who will go to war, or has that mentality of a champion whatsoever. The Leafs are in big trouble for the long term again with this core group of guys imo. And Nylander, Gardiner, Kadri, Dermott, Kapanen, etc... these are also not warriors. This series was a team of men against boys once again. How Tavares wouldn't get the C on his chest, or Morgan Reilly even, baffles me. But ya give it to the guy who looks like his diet consists of happy meals and fruit loops.

What he said about St. Louis is correct. Great suburbs but the city is dangerous.
I grew up in west St. Louis County. That area of St. Louis is about as bad as it gets. They need to do something about downtown. But you’re missing out if you don’t get out of the immediate downtown area. There is so much there. Great food and good atmosphere.
St. Louis would also explode if they won the cup.

Chris is wrong about St. Louis being the worst party city for the cup. We've been waiting 50 years in an incredibly underrated hockey market. People will be partying on the highways with bud light and broken pieces of the Arch.
That being said he isn't wrong about the downtown area, but they've been making some incredible strides the last few years.
