John for sure knows his stuff. And got the deer to prove it. But if anyone besides him that doesn't like the webbing bridge on the ESS cut it off and buy an adjustable amsteel bridge from cruzr saddles. 100% recommend it.
Thank you Mr Eberhart for sharing your knowledge. My ESS arrives tomorrow. I’m in NC and we get two buck tags. Last Saturday I shot a 2.5 year old 8 on public. Medium depth and thickness cover. My last tag is being saved for my ESS and now that I don’t have to carry a noisy lock-on I am going to go deeper than anyone has here to a cliff and creek system to look for a hammer buck Be safe✌️
Bought your signature series saddle. Simply comfortable as can be! This is coming from someone who has been in a tree saddle doing arborist work for hours. Thanks for the design and the videos. I've always just hunted for meat but targeting bucks this year. I'm not competing anymore so needed a new competitive sport. I have a black belt in Shingitai Jujitsu under John Saylor and I feel the same way as I did about Jujitsu. Go find great people and that'll rub off on ya. Look up to you as I did coach Saylor. Thanks John keep it up! Rodger Central Ohio
Thanks for sharing this information again John. I recently ordered the Tethrd ESS saddle. It was on sale last month. If I would have watched this one before I sent my order I might not have gotten the pouch. I did contact a rep via Instagram and he of course said that it would work for the HYS strap and the ropes that came with the kit. I look forward to getting it and trying it out. Have to get an ascending and descending method first. I remember that hunt story on the Wired to Hunt podcast with Mark Kenyon. 🏹🦌
@@eberhartoutdoors4219 that’s the plan Sir. I want to get my first deer let alone buck 🦌 with a bow 🏹. The saddle is on back order so I have to wait for July to get it in the mail. Plenty of practice will ensue before West Virginia opener on September 29th.
I just received my ESS yesterday, and I have been playing around with it in the yard. I think I’m going to love it. But have you found a way to quiet the noise that the bridge makes when it self adjusts on the D rings? I only notice it when I first settle in and on bigger hip twists, so maybe it will wear in and go away….
These are quite a few areas of the country with so much pressure that 3 1/2 year old bucks rarely exist. On my last public land gun hunt in Michigan I had a bullet hit the tree I was sitting under 6 inches over my head (in the 80's) and I quit gun hunting public land after that. I totally quit gun hunting for bucks in 1991. Still shoot does for the freezer (if needed) in December wityh a gun just to get it done and over quickly.
Thanks for more great info John! Do you prefer make just one trip up the tree with say a rope attached to your bow etc ? Would love to see your method of doing that if you haven’t done a vid for that yet!
I can’t imagine climbing without my two pouches! I’ve just gotten too used to having all my stuff right on my belt. And it’s 2021….we can’t figure out how to make a great saddle you don’t have to step into?
@@joepatout6818 If you like the pouches that's wonderful. When we did the video with pouches (which I have never used), they swung under my butt because they dangle and where I hunt, that doesn't cut it. I 100% guarantee that I can get a tether or lineman rope out of my pack before you can get yours out of your pouch that's drawn shut.

I switched mine up with another bridge.

Just got mine, great video!
Thanks John!

Michigan is like hunting in Louisiana. There’s someone behind every tree. Every resident gets 3 buck tags and 3 does.

@@eberhartoutdoors4219 when you say “pack”, you mean a back pack or something else?
I bought one... tried it several times - left it at the hunting check-in station on purpose because I refused to sell it to anyone. 2/5
