  • In this eye-opening video, we dive into the controversial topic of Intelligent Speed Assistance (ISA) technology and its implications for drivers in the UK and across Europe. With the EU rolling out mandatory ISA systems designed to limit vehicle speed automatically, concerns about privacy, autonomy, and the potential for widespread speeding fines are at an all-time high.
We'll explore why the UK has decided to opt out of this EU scheme post-Brexit, and what it means for British drivers.
We ask you, Will ISA technology lead to a surge in speeding fines? How will it affect your daily driving experience? What are the legal and ethical implications? Don't miss out on this critical discussion - your right to drive freely could depend on it!

imo it is a self control issue. most drivers that drive over speed limit are 100% aware of that. I never drive over speed limit, it's not difficult. I don't mind automated speed limiters, but I don't mind people getting fined for speeding either. I'd go even further and allow unmarked speed cameras on roads.

I was driving a brown new 40 grand golf for a three and a half months. I’m telling you this car did everything except drive itself. I kept joking it was like knight rider. Hence everywhere that it was driven the speed came up automatically. But it wasn’t correct. The sixty sign comes up as I come out of the village. It always read 30 on my dash. Only changed when I was at a junction that you had to stop for anyway!!
So more a reply to your previous video I’m glad we have opted out. As for the 20 mph in London , I think it’s a common sense thing. London now has so many restrictions. If you are too stupid to read the signs and abide by them then that’s down to you. I made a trip to Heathrow to pick up my daughter. Decided to stop in some services. My sat nav got me there . But the road signs said for residents only. There was no way I was going through as I knew there would most likely be a camera somewhere.
And yes it’s extra revenue all the way. You only have to have your back wheel in a bus lane and you are done !!

Hello Karen. Thank you taking part. I have the same issues with my car, it occasionally reads the signs from the side roads. However, the new cars fitted with ISA will also be connected to the GPS mapping data. You are 100% correct, drivers need to be aware of their surroundings

As per your question, old cars like 2015-20 etc don't have that system, so if the vendor does it free of cost to install for their vehicles sold out freely its no harm to get it, but ideally if this system using tech to detect road speed limit and puts cars automatically on it no matter which speed zone one is driving then i don't see any harm in it, because simply it automatically reduces or adjusts your speed to that drive zone here i am talking about the max allowed speed per zone so i don't see any harm if it comes free of cost

Hello Jalal 👋 Hoping you're well. Thanks for commenting. Why do you think that the government has opted out?

For myself what I sometimes do is set the cruise control in the 20 then forget about. I know in some cars you can't set as low as 20. The only thing I do find is you get more people pulling out on you at junctions and if the area is quiet and not much happening as people tend to switch off . Shouldn't but they do yet with more speed you need to be more alert, but the risk is increased.

Hello Aaron 🖐Thanks for taking part. Why do you think the government has decided to opt out? Do you think they just want to wait a year and see what happens in the EU?

@dtc_uk I'm not sure. It's a difficult dilemma. Do you take the freedom on trust away from the people. Or is it a case of using technology as a gentle reminder you are in a 20 zone. Just be mindful about your speed. If it's just a reminder I ain't against but if it is take over technology I'm not so keen.

Revenue collectors. Motorways limits are far too low in most places though, I feel 0 guilt breaking it especially on open stretches. Sometimes I sit at 155, I don’t care. It’s not whilst passing other cars so there’s 0 problem.
