    10:40 that’s true mate, we should always indicate at a junction even if there is nobody behind you or in front of you or no pedestrians around like you said because we don’t know what’s in the new road.

    Hello Shak,
    Thanks for the video. There are some points I would like to raise please.
    Mini roundabouts. If going ahead, taking the 1st exit ahead, a left approach signal can be beneficial to the vehicle approaching the roundabout from the opposite direction.
    Signals for junctions. I am not really a fan of using car lengths, even as a guide, because what is a car length, what speed is the junction being approached at, what’s the view of the junction. I have passed the IAM test at gold grade and if you look in roadcraft and look up system of car control, the information phase of giving out information and the chapter on signals states to give a signal if it could benefit another Road user. If there is no one around to benefit, there is no need to signal.
    At many junctions I will not signal if there is no one to be of benefit. However I understand this video is probably pitched at more novice drivers.

      Hello Harry 👋 Hoping you're well. I take on board the first exit at mini roundabouts. I also sometimes give the left signal. Just a point missed out

    04:30 that’s a very important point mate, the cars coming towards you from behind have priority because they’re already in the pathway, as you’re parked up at the side of the road you’re not yet officially in the pathway hence why you must give way to any oncoming cars behind you travelling towards you, you can signal when nobody is coming at you from behind as then you won’t make them stop swerve or slow down for you but if the traffic behind you is very busy and you’ve been waiting for a minute or so with no gaps you can apply a begging signal as if you don’t do that you might be waiting there all day.

    I always find amusing when I'm cycling and cars indicate to come back in , especially when they haven't indicated to overtake. Then the car following behind ends up to close. If im driving and hazard is on my side like a pedestrian or cyclist I do indicate providing the signal isn't miss leading. I sometimes use signals to highlight hazards on my side of the road that cars following know to pull out for say like a flood . It probably comes from when cycling in a group where everyone is on the wheel and you have to be eyes for people behind

    04:20 if a learner pupil signalled while there were cars coming towards them from behind and they made the driver behind stop slow down or swerve that would be an instant driving test fail as the cars behind already moving are already in the pathway and have priority, if you’re parked up at the side of the road you haven’t yet entered the pathway and you need to give way to vehicles already in the pathway, I hope people understand what I mean and I hope it helps a few learner drivers out there.

      Hello Wayne 👋 good to hear from you again. No, they would not fail for signaling when there is traffic approaching l, even if that traffic slowed, swerved or stopping.
      As you mention in am earlier comment, It could be a begging signal. Furthermore, if a driver chooses to give way, that's their choice.
      However, if a pupil moved off and FORCED a driver to take action, that would be a fail.

      Hi mate, good to hear from you again too, ah ok, I understand what you’re saying, that makes sense, thank you very much for explaining, I just wanted to ask you, you said you should always indicate at normal junction as you can’t see into the new road and a signal might help someone who we can’t see in the new road, what about roundabouts, a roundabout is a junction so should I signal even if nobody is around? I’d say yes as even if you’re 99% sure nobody is there there’s always a chance that you may not have seen someone..right? 🙃

    Thanks again for sharing this which I have been wanting.
    While crossing/overtake a bus after indicating that you are about to overtake, is it okey to honk as a bus driver may have his attention towards boarding and alighting passenger and it is not area restricted for honking?

    • @dtc_uk
      @dtc_uk  29 днів тому

      Hello Vaidyanathan 🖐Great thought. Good idea if you're overtaking a bus in INDIA but not in the UK. It is only advisable to honk if the bus driver is tempting to move as you are overtaking.
