Given that I was a landed immigrant turned citizen, the online application for OAS requested a certified photocopy of my Canadian passport. I sought that certification at a Service Canada office. My online application for GIS stated that a landed immigrant document might be requested. But Service Canada informed me that since the start of Covid, additional document handling was discouraged. Still they certified my documents and sent them on to the provincial office on my behalf.
Did I understand this correctly. I applied for OAS so I don't have to apply for CPP? Is that why I only received an application for OAS? Does CPP come in automatically? I did not choose the deferred option on the OAS.
Great Job Joe. You are nailing the retirement content ;-)

Good info Joe!
