  • In-bed vermicomposting provides a continuous supply of microbes for my garden beds.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣After feeding the worms a few times, I harvest the castings. ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣I spread them around my beds and share some with my containers that don't have bins. ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣Worm castings offer so many benefits for your garden. ⁣⁣⁣

I have worm farms on 2 boxes. I fed them may week, and they are probably 8 or 9 grubs or caterpillars...something that was NOT a worm and that I would pick if it was on a plant. I took a picture, but I don't know what they were. I went through both worm bins and dispatched. But now I'm worried that I am also providing a place for some harmful bed to fatten up Oct the winter. Any ideas of what they are or what to do? Thank you!

@gayewillis1965. I think you might have grubs from a Japanese beetle in your soil. Just Google Japanese beetle grubs and see if that's what you had. I'm sure it will tell you how to get rid of them. Some people feed them to their chickens.

@@gayewillis1965 I used to really freak out by all the insects that we’re not supposed to be there, but after many years, I realize they all play a part. I also get those grubs and I just picked them out and toss them over the fence.

Could you compost with worms dug from the yard? Or is there a special kind of worm?

It's possible that they are the kind that feed on wood chips. They are not harmful if that's what they are.
