Holo Earth is interesting project for sure, too me it seems something likea 3rd person VR chat social type of game but you can build stuff? And also feels like hololive members are gonna be able to do virtual concerts in there, since I think they have tested something like that in the past. But whats more interesting and surprising too me was Yagoo speaking about what he wish the Vtuber industry should be like. It feels like he wants it to grow a ton more globaly.
I think the importance of Holoearth is less about VR social and more about creating an eventual replacement for UA-cam. As of right now, all vTubers are completely reliant on third party streaming platforms run by fickle companies who may change the rules at a whim. As long as Hololive depends on UA-cam, they will always face a risk of changes being made that ruins their business model. Holoearth, therefore, is a possible solution to this problem. If they can host events and concerts on Holoearth, then that helps "firewall" Hololive from the third party risk associated with UA-cam. Yagoo is not necessarily going to say this out loud, because he doesn't want to piss off the management of UA-cam/Google.
If I’m not wrong cover is in the middle of developing an app for the girls to live stream there, what I’m hoping is holoplus to be available for the global audience

3:55 slick little edit. thanks for translating these, its been super insightful. the show itself also seems to be very well done. a respectful and well-informed host, asking good questions. very interesting that - as expected- yagoo is very well informed about everything around vtubing and where to take it, but also realizes that there is no guarantee the metaverse project will succeed. i think it at least has a good chance to exist and be of use to hololive, because its narrower scope makes it actually interesting and useful for fans. also, once established, maybe they can also open it up to other creators, hmm... also finally heard the answer to the EU issue and its as i expected: they simply dont have the resources to allocate to it. frankly speaking, even debuting a new, european vtuber is a "waste" when you can instead work on permeating the US or EA/SEA market more. also goddamn, yagoo really is best girl, just wanting to help out all of humanity, lol.
"Since long ago, I have always felt the strong urge to contribute to humanity" i shall always respect someone who has the virtue of wanting to contribute to humanity. his mindset is in a good place. whenever i see yagoo in most pictures or videos he's got a smile on his face. he's someone that wants the best in everyone.
Playing around with the HoloEarth sanbox room, I was expecting a much simpler builder with very simplistic snapping rules. There's some limitations I've hit, but overall it feels like a better buildmode than... like, Fallout4/76. Which, admittedly, isn't much, but it's a lot better than I was expecting.
If he thinks bigger, which Yagoo certainly seems to be thinking right now, Hololive could be beyond just vtubers, but instead one of the first steps towards a virtual world in real life. The classic one that you see in scifi and fantasy, where people hop into virtual worlds to hang out and do things such as concerts, parks, etc. to just chat and hang out with friends vs what you would do IRL. The ideal future with this in mind is a balance where you can decide with your friends to go to the park, then head back to your own homes to hop in the virtual world to chat and hang out and play games and stuff. But my guess is itll still look very rough and "in beta" the same way RPGs and videogames used to look, with low poly models and basic stuff, eventually evolving so that your avatar can be much more detailed, beautiful/amazing looking, etc. and the virtual world's content will also evolve beyond just gaming
If you dig around you can actually see the current look where, Yagoo, Polka and Botan went into the HoloEarth beta and tested/showcased game play - It's worth the look,
the footage i used in this video for holoearth is actually what it looks like right now. it's not top of the line detail for today's standards, but it's not low poly
At first i didnt see why this would be impactful because i dont see how holoearth is different from other games, but from what Yagoo said it could actually be pretty good, if we take as an example other server events with games like these like Rust and GTA, where most of the times things like commisions of art, voice packs, trade of materials, etc. always come out, making it more of a social game, and if to this you include an idea came to me from what Yagoo mentioned where maybe artists could also make models, designs and outfits for the game this could actually so big and be a very important social game, (maybe the same impact like VRchat but with more gameplay like a real game) This is also very interesting because to this, you add things they have been doing before like participating in concerts and chatting, that would be very hype
I imagine HoloEarth will be like Valheim or Craftopia -esque gameplay where the 'viewers' will be able to build their own stuff, showcase their creativity and admiration to their oshis (while nuking the negative stuffs, ofc). At the same time, in-game concerts will be held similar to that of PSO2 (I only saw 1 clip of it, nothing more. maybe someone can give a better example) where a specific area/stage is meant to have performances there (fans can showcase their stuff, at the same time Talents can use it as in-game concerts). If multiple towns will exist, a huge tv broadcast is available on those towns, and/or teleportation to the main town (which I do not prefer, else it might be a 'free warp' thing). Every Talents will have their 'main mansion' where they will be able to conduct their livestreams with in-game fans. They also will have a section of their mansion where they can do 'membership only' stuffs. HoloEarth will also have a special place for other vtubers - Niji people can have their own place there as well with limited features/access/permissions but has to pay royalty fee to Cover (backend management stuff). They can also do concerts there, but gotta pay that royalty fee again. I'd imagine that's one way Cover will be able to steer the direction as well as future development of the vtuber market as a whole.
I assume you haven't played it and yes, they already had concert before and building system in the beta test, you can download it now to experience the easy building system. I can say once you try watching concert in it , you will only demand all of the live be performed on it in the future, cause that is a totally different experience.
Tbh, If they did it like pso2 concerts, I would be a fan of the concerts. As I have been playing pso2 for 4 years b4 NGS. Experienced the concert first hand and it is amazing. PSO2 also had interactive concerts where players can actually join in the performance and was addicted to that stuff tbh. I think PSO2 NGS got concerts too but havent play enough of it and didnt get to the city where they are actually hosting those concerts.
@@yamiRicSpeaking of Craftopia, rumors are circulating that he had already contacted the devs of Craftopia (who by the way are huge Hololive fans and had placed a lot of Hololive references in their game) and commissioned them to help in the development of HoloEarth. That might have put up a lot of potential capital that their CEO used to further develop yet another game. You know the result, and it is glorious.

Thank you so much for the translation! You can feel his desire to create something special rather than just create business. I dread the day Yagoo leaves COVER but looking forward to see what issues he focuses on and hope he wins a Nobel Prize!
the biggest flaw of this business is that it relies on youtube which provides hololive a natural growth through algorithms. you can't move all this in a separate website, you can't just make your own streaming platform, a large amount of potential audience won't visit it. streams aren't like music or concerts, so his ideas about metaverse can be brought in life only with changing a company business model where company should spend lots of money for advertising their main product
Meaning all super chats and memberships, Covers gets 100% the revenue and talents will get a bigger cut. I fully expect them to heavily push this and having Super chats sessions for it. I also expect this area to hold the concerts now and market it as the ultimate viewing experience with VR headsets so that they can also hold all the transaction revenue from it, also allowing more access for international viewers to JP,EN, and ID concerts
@@franciscoc905 i dont know how the donation works in new platform but they still gonna get cut from tax. japan has one of most notorious tax. but by having their own platform, hololive doesnt need to be soo afraid to get banned like in youtube or twitch due to how their ai works in copyright and censorship. . i imagine the talents would still stream on youtube while using the new platform in the future, youtube still more accomplished in many things

@@wbcnoun Me too, but we all know he's old and sooner or later he'll be gone. And if he live healthy for another 10 years, i guess it will be the peak, the golden age of virtual world including vtubers. Whoever succeed him will face a whole new challenges too, dang.
i feel like yagoo is trying to make hololive into the nintendo of vtubing, where they will always be the ones pushing the boundaries and trying new things
In the end, HoloPro will become recognized as a "global brand" rather than an agency, and the actual Hololive members will be more like active advertisers for the company's products rather than the product itself (specifically - surpassing the "Idol" and "v-tuber" chain and going toward grander aspirations). There's no point in stunting your company and presenting the talents as the "products", when you can make them far greater. There might not seem like a big difference in results, but in mindset, its like the difference between day and night. If I had to draw similarities so something in the real world, it would be like the difference between selling a smart phones and selling the operating system for the smart phone.
Funny that Yagoo mentions MiHoYo, the maker of Genshin Impact, a game that his talents aren’t allowed to play thanks to geopolitics. They are actually working on an expansive VR game of their own with one of its stated goals being to help those who feel depressed and lonely. I can see Holoearth aiming for something similar but with Vtubers rather than a fantasy game. A lot of people like me were helped by Vtubers at the height of the pandemic-and by the release of Genshin too. The bits of Holoearth footage I’ve seen looked a bit like Genshin’s background art style already…I’m not surprised he’s learning from their good example. One day I hope that division can be healed. We all know so many of the talents are whaling already :)
Kinda hard. There is an immense divide between the 2 spheres due to past dramas and events that lead up to multiple talents affected. Alot of the fans can't accept it. From a business standpoint going back into the Chinese market make sense but it's a steep slope to climb given how sensitive that region is.
@@lilopygaming3218 Yeah. When geopolitics takes the driver's seat, especially considering Holo is operating in the media market, that sounds unlikely. I believe an apt analogy for China in the media market is it's a rich market, both in money to be earned and landmines to step on. Holo had experienced both, and for now, their choice seems to keep it on ice if not abandon it altogether.
i dont want yaago to retire tbh. but iam pretty sure he deserve it. it is a selfish request, but i want him to look after the company especially the member as long as he could.
That is smart, like really smart. A new way to enjoy vtuber content, literally a new perspective to see them. This also shows how much he watches and study his talent's streams and the game they enjoys
From all the metaverses I think this one has the chance to be at least entretaining but it will also depend of the monetization methods but in this community people tends to throw money at things that have their oshi face in it so maybe they will milk as much as they can.
If I understood correctly, it seems that Cover is aiming to get rid of UA-cam or Twitch and simply have their talents do 3D streams and/or concerts on the HoloEarth metaverse. It would be a natural evolution of streaming, plus it gives the talent more freedom since they are not restricted by terms of service of YT or Twitch. Plus eliminating the middle man means the talents and Cover keeps all the money of Superchats without having to give YT or Twitch their respective cut.
They tried to be similar to Hatsume Miku market since the beginning with concerts inside the game, together with a television and streaming content. Also investing on anime and 3D structure with animators, illustrators, voice actors, multimedia games and others.
@@CSLucasEpicUnless they have some crazy monetisation innovation at the ready, that sounds like a giant money pit. I believe they would make it work for concerts and big events, but I'm highly sceptical it's going to work as a regular streaming replacement. At best it's going to be a subscription only to have any chance to pay for itself.
@@kaminekoch.7465 I wager the monitization will be similar to VRChat - have a basic service, and then a Premium service with higher tier features, as well as the sales of merch. To really make it work at the metaverse level other companies, if they have the premium level could sell merch within the ecosystem as well and a percentage of the sales goes back to Cover.
0:56 I was not expecting YAGOO to talk about Hoyoverse. This is especially surprising considering Hololive is basically banned from playing Hoyoverse games on stream.
@@wbcnoun haha very true. That said, if there are two Chinese companies I would want Hololive to work with again, it would be Hoyoverse & Yostar. The rest of them don’t matter.
HoloEarth is basically a Virtual World where you have a casual adventure and some kind of storyline closely related to Holo Alternative manga. Or some kind of events that happened in real time that had tones of references to hang out with friends online.
This sounds interesting, but I cant help but only think this will stay inside HoloLive. What comes to mind is watching concerts live with other people. What would be great is potentially being a live crowd IN the concert and they can see us waving and changing penlights. while we have a better view of the performer instead of the crazy camera views we get in 3D concerts. What also comes to mind is potentially watching streams but I see no point to that really. I have mixed feelings but I am rooting for them. I want them to succeed past their goal.
@@RejectHumanityReturn2MonkeI think technology will evolve alongside things like this. Already servers are in petabytes and take up less than a room. Hopefully it picks up even faster.
Well they are certainly trying that by streaming the year end countdown event in HoloEarth. They probably won't have their own hosting but link with services like Netflix, other Vtuber event livestream, or Karaoke song lists etc. The main function they need is built-in financial transection and exchange service with user content creation Modder support, then people can make an economy out of it.
Apart from his views on Musk and his involvement in international porblems, I do agree with Yagoo on all the stuff. He seems so passionate and down to earth when he describes Covercorp and the future of it. I always think the Japanese aren't always up to speed with the crazy stuff in America (and musk) due to the language barrier. I used to think musk was cool too based on what i thought he did, vs what he was actually doing....
@@franks777_KFP it doesn't help that we get cherrypicked info from media too 😅 i think Yagoo just mentioned Musk because his businesses seem have a greater motive, rather than growing business for the sake of growing business/money
I hope AI technology improves for Multilingual Stream Translations especially since there will always be stream delay, it could be used as advantage as the time for AI to translate before it gets sent to UA-cam Streams
I wish they'd also take some of the fan games and pay the creators, hire staff to work on these smaller games as well. Heck, I'd even buy dlcs and costumes as long as theres no gameplay affecting microtransactions/boosters etc.
I really hope that he won't end up like Musk: pilling up unrealistic promises and never delivering half of them. I'm also usually not a fan of people using buzzwords like "metaverse" or claiming to "better humanity" without having anything concrete to present. It reminds me of Theranos and all those other over-mediatized scammers... But I'm curious to see what he can pull out and I just hope that he won't loose sight of what made the success of Hololive.
At least their metaverse is already 10x better then the one from facebook because plays like an MMOrpg so at least their vision is more concrete even if not complete.
If you really looked more into Yagoo, you wouldn't be as skeptical about it. Elon and Tanigo have 2 COMPLETELY different experiences. Tanigo went through the same hardships when he lost some girls because they got cancelled or wanted to retire. He even cut off China; the main global money maker.
I think yagoo is grounded enough to understand that what he's doing is a giant risk, but not one that he honestly doesn't believe he'll be able to pull off, even if it takes longer than expected. He definitely has the vision, the drive, and the community behind him on this encouraging him, which is a lot more than the metaverse had in the first place and I think that that's the trifecta he's going to use to successfully launch this. It won't be without hiccups/bugs/etc of course, but I don't see him or cover as a company that won't try and fix things/or will push low quality monetization towards players (look at bae's backpack that recently released; they discovered an issue with the plastic used and then promptly and pro-actively re-sent _another_ bag for everyone who bought a defective one, regardless of whether that buyer actually reached out or not).
I think the name "Metaverse" is unfortunate because it immediately brings to mind Facebook's money black hole project that is currently failing horribly. The idea behind Holoearth is to create a platform directly under Cover's control that can be used to host concerts and events and let fans and fan groups talk to and connect with each other. Currently, Cover is reliant on third party platforms (such as UA-cam) for streaming and concerts to make its business model work. An in-house platform allows them to mitigate some of the risk of those third party platforms, as well as reduce company expenses in the form of fees which may be paid to these platforms. Even if the social media aspect of Holoearth fails, they will still have a platform for hosting their own streams and events.
@@CaptainOverkill Yes, distancing themselves from UA-cam is understandably one their top priorities. Not only UA-cam is taking a big chunk of their revenues, it's also completely unpredictable.
Man, the fact he still talks so positively about mihoyo after getting dropped hard by those parties in the past.. i hope that bridge can be mended someday.
Mihoyo probably got pressured to drop cover, Mihoyo probably hate CCP too since they keep enforcing rules that restrict people from playing games and the recent rule to limit spending money on game currency.
it seems beneficial for them to have an office in USA or ID, since they would be able to do more things like frequent 3D lives, but i'm not sure if the cost is worth it though..

Yagoo is not necessarily going to say this out loud, because he doesn't want to piss off the management of UA-cam/Google.
yeah I agree youtube has to goo. But it would probably be too high cost atm for them to host all streams themselves.@@CaptainOverkill
If I’m not wrong cover is in the middle of developing an app for the girls to live stream there, what I’m hoping is holoplus to be available for the global audience
@@renpu3441Oh is Holoplus for the girls to stream too? My impression was that it was a social media for Holomems & Holofans, which I was excited for cuz Twixxer has become one hell of a platform 😂

As long as the mental health of the talents is always going to be a priority, and as long as they are allowed to take breaks if it becomes too much at times, Cover can dive into all kinds of media and expand even more. I want to keep seeing Hololive win, but please never lose this familiar, friendly atmosphere.
This is why Neuro Sama exist > she doesn’t need rest and never hungers. No mental health and just fun and entertaining. Look how successful she’s been
@@FATDADDYSACK Yeah but it's hard to personally connect or relate with an AI. I'm not talking about the parasocial stuff either. When I'm still into vtubers most of the ones I watch align with my hobbies and games that I play. There's also their own sense of humour and personality. I see the appeal with Neuro sama tho
he seems to be very considerate of the talents so far, so i think we'll be okay there. holoearth would likely expand on the familiar, friendly atmosphere if it succeeds, so i think his head is in the right place ^^
the problem with mental health are mostly the talent's own fault & stubbornness i think.
FATDADDYSACK Imagine thinking an AI can replace real people. AI can’t come up with original ideas or jokes, they just recycle shit they learned.

this project could potentially be really great for us all
3:55 slick little edit.
thanks for translating these, its been super insightful. the show itself also seems to be very well done. a respectful and well-informed host, asking good questions.
very interesting that - as expected- yagoo is very well informed about everything around vtubing and where to take it, but also realizes that there is no guarantee the metaverse project will succeed. i think it at least has a good chance to exist and be of use to hololive, because its narrower scope makes it actually interesting and useful for fans.
also, once established, maybe they can also open it up to other creators, hmm...
also finally heard the answer to the EU issue and its as i expected: they simply dont have the resources to allocate to it. frankly speaking, even debuting a new, european vtuber is a "waste" when you can instead work on permeating the US or EA/SEA market more.
also goddamn, yagoo really is best girl, just wanting to help out all of humanity, lol.
i'm glad you found the translation helpful ^^
"Since long ago, I have always felt the strong urge to contribute to humanity" i shall always respect someone who has the virtue of wanting to contribute to humanity. his mindset is in a good place. whenever i see yagoo in most pictures or videos he's got a smile on his face. he's someone that wants the best in everyone.
Playing around with the HoloEarth sanbox room, I was expecting a much simpler builder with very simplistic snapping rules.
There's some limitations I've hit, but overall it feels like a better buildmode than... like, Fallout4/76. Which, admittedly, isn't much, but it's a lot better than I was expecting.
better building than Fallout 4/76 is impressive considering they aren't even trying to compete xD
you can reply your suggestion with in-game mailing, maybe they will take it and make some modification
Then you might have to look at Valheim, it has pretty flexible build mode too
If he thinks bigger, which Yagoo certainly seems to be thinking right now, Hololive could be beyond just vtubers, but instead one of the first steps towards a virtual world in real life.
If you dig around you can actually see the current look where, Yagoo, Polka and Botan went into the HoloEarth beta and tested/showcased game play - It's worth the look,
There use to be this concept. It was called 2nd Life
the footage i used in this video for holoearth is actually what it looks like right now. it's not top of the line detail for today's standards, but it's not low poly
At first i didnt see why this would be impactful because i dont see how holoearth is different from other games, but from what Yagoo said it could actually be pretty good, if we take as an example other server events with games like these like Rust and GTA, where most of the times things like commisions of art, voice packs, trade of materials, etc. always come out, making it more of a social game, and if to this you include an idea came to me from what Yagoo mentioned where maybe artists could also make models, designs and outfits for the game this could actually so big and be a very important social game, (maybe the same impact like VRchat but with more gameplay like a real game)
This is also very interesting because to this, you add things they have been doing before like participating in concerts and chatting, that would be very hype
@@rayo_0098 i've been thinking the same watching the video
Yes I was attending their previous HoloEarth concert and it was amazing.
We broke their server though
@@yamiRicSpeaking of Craftopia, rumors are circulating that he had already contacted the devs of Craftopia (who by the way are huge Hololive fans and had placed a lot of Hololive references in their game) and commissioned them to help in the development of HoloEarth. to make it short, yagoo is trying to make another streaming platform for his talents to have game content while interacting with viewers
yes
the biggest flaw of this business is that it relies on youtube which provides hololive a natural growth through algorithms. you can't move all this in a separate website, you can't just make your own streaming platform, a large amount of potential audience won't visit it. streams aren't like music or concerts, so his ideas about metaverse can be brought in life only with changing a company business model where company should spend lots of money for advertising their main product
@@franciscoc905 i dont know how the donation works in new platform but they still gonna get cut from tax. japan has one of most notorious tax. but by having their own platform, hololive doesnt need to be soo afraid to get banned like in youtube or twitch due to how their ai works in copyright and censorship.

i imagine the talents would still stream on youtube while using the new platform in the future, youtube still more accomplished in many things

I love the Hololive vTubers. They're my favourites. No one can match them yet. Hope his vision gets real.
Let's go Yagoo!
The best gril already saw 10 years forward in the industry. He is the living legend

Cool. I'm glad Vtubers have permeated my brain lol.
Didn’t know Yagoo is such an envisioner 😮 I hope the dream will be achieved!
Take a shot every time YAGOO says sou desu ne.
that's a health risk xD
Holo had experienced both, and for now, their choice seems to keep it on ice if not abandon it altogether.
i dont want yaago to retire tbh. but iam pretty sure he deserve it. it is a selfish request, but i want him to look after the company especially the member as long as he could.

he's gotta do REALLY bad to ruin his good reputation 🤣
i also hope he succeeds though 🙏
it's over bros, we will permanently live in holoearth when it comes out
wow yagoo looks healthy and youthful, i was worried he was loosing weight but not anymore
@PersonaOhnlyne yeah I think they're aiming for that. I also think they'll copy the Sky(android game) concert formula.
This is especially surprising considering Hololive is basically banned from playing Hoyoverse games on stream.
no politics can stop best girl from creating the best content for us xD
@@wbcnoun haha very true. That said, if there are two Chinese companies I would want Hololive to work with again, it would be Hoyoverse & Yostar. The rest of them don’t matter.
HoloEarth is basically a Virtual World where you have a casual adventure and some kind of storyline closely related to Holo Alternative manga. Or some kind of events that happened in real time that had tones of references to hang out with friends online.
the possibilities for holoearth are so grand. excited to see how it turns out 😄
This sounds interesting, but I cant help but only think this will stay inside HoloLive.
You'd need a whole condo of servers for that to happen 😅 and I believe none has accomplished what you want to happen. Baby steps, man. Baby steps.
Weren't there already short concerts held in Holoearth? It ended up being stress tests for the servers too 😆
Apart from his views on Musk and his involvement in international porblems, I do agree with Yagoo on all the stuff.

Honestly, Yagoo is too good for this world. I really hope for the best to him and everyone around
2:55 Ame moment
gotta love that gremlin
From Hololive... to HOLOVERSE
Not only UA-cam is taking a big chunk of their revenues, it's also completely unpredictable.
yagoo actually knows how to use metaverse better than mark Zuckerberg 😂
Yagoo the man with a dream
Man, the fact he still talks so positively about mihoyo after getting dropped hard by those parties in the past.. i hope that bridge can be mended someday.
Mihoyo probably got pressured to drop cover, Mihoyo probably hate CCP too since they keep enforcing rules that restrict people from playing games and the recent rule to limit spending money on game currency.
so the plan is to basically build a 3d gaia online.
also i wonder if they plan to build another office in the usa or id
it seems beneficial for them to have an office in USA or ID, since they would be able to do more things like frequent 3D lives, but i'm not sure if the cost is worth it though..

the beta seemed promising for sure! i hope they can get the servers to work under load though ! i think the demand will be very high
