@@Dany_Stormborn Right, I think more control is given to the content creator after a channel is monetized, but those creators like myself do not have controls to stop ads. The only way to stop them are via ad blockers (which are hit and miss) or through a UA-cam Premium subscription which I can say with certainty stops them all.

I've watched that episode over a dozen times and I cannot stop myself from crying each time. So moving, so powerful, such incredible acting and the music puts it over the top. Beautifully done all the way around.

Everyone talks about Game of Thrones and Vikings, but The Last Kingdom is so much better in every single way. There is such an emotional bond formed with this show. The music, the atmosphere, the awesome cast of characters, and Ultred himself. The Last Kingdom deserves so much more attention.
The Books are even better as a teenager I discovered them and got suspended for skipping school to read them. Totally Worth It.
The Last Kingdom was Everything a Movie could be based on the story. Absolutely Brilliant!

the first seasons of GOT were so good because they followed the books. the last kingdom follows the books and bernard cornwell is the best historical fiction writer of all time. i am very interested in the history of england because of this man.

Yes, just a shame it they couldn't take it up a notch in Season 4. Seemed a bit flat. The main battle, forget which episode, where Æthelflæd's husband arrives at the last minute was changed from the books to shoehorn in SJW ideology again with Æthelflæd charging into battle without armour or shield. The book version would have been so much more powerful with her on the hill overlooking the crumbling Saxon shieldwall, having stayed to encourage the men and knowing defeat is now inevitable asks her retainer, Aldhelm, to "do her one last service". Instead they exchange that highly dramatic scene for cheap, unrealistic pop-culture. Script writers today are pathetic hacks. It is why virtually all good TV shows nowadays are adaptations from novels.

Game of Thrones takes heavy inspirations from British history. The kingdoms being the many kingdoms of Britain and the old Valarions esentially being the Romans, who left Britain and no one could build or rule as well in their wake. Bernard Cornwall is the man, if you enjoy this, you'll love his other stuff like the Warlord Trilogy and his Sharpe series. Books are amazing.
At first I quit after the very first episode. It was terrible. But from episode 2 it was like a whole other show. One of the best out there. Im glad I picked it up again.
This, quite honestly, is arguably better than GOT. A truly magical experience so finely executed, directed, produced and acted. A true gem of our late Ages.

This music is a big reason why I love the show. They know how to perfectly place the music during the most emotive scenes. The last meeting between Alfred and Uhtred being a prime example. I hope Netflix keeps this excellent show alive so that all of author Bernard Cornwell's story-line can be told. Great books, great show!

What I love is that the show is historically accurate in many ways; Uhtred was a real person, although he lived during a different era, for example, while Aethelflaed is revered as the Warrior Queen to this day, and Alfred really did hide in a marsh. But Uhtred himself, while being a fictional addition to the time frame, well represents all the nameless and faceless warriors who helped Alfred, Edward, Aethelstan, Aetheflaed, and all the rulers who came both before and after carve out their kingdoms throughout time, right down to the present day - the loyal, selfless, dedicated warriors of all shapes, sizes, and genders, who just do their duty no matter the cost, not caring for fancy tombs or recognition in chronicles.
(It's such a stunning and breath-taking series on so many levels including visually, and the fact that some of the central actors are pretty easy on the eyes and well-cast is very nice, too.)
Everyone that I have suggested the show to have fallen in love with it, and learned something along the way.

When Alfred was reviewing his chronicle with Uhtred and told him how he wouldn't be included made me hope that someone like this actually existed.
@@JerrysJets I think that's kinda the whole point of the show, right? Uhtred is the hero unrecorded by history. Near the end of of season 3, he says to the crowd in front of Edward "I am there...between the lines"
I was traveling from Germany to Italy 2 days ago, and while looking at the Eastern Alps with their snow capped peaks, the crystal clear streams and the little towns scattered here and there, I was listening to this masterpiece.
The light was shining through. It was a perfect day; the last day of the year.
Well, for the millionth time I realized how deeply connected I am to this sound.
The thing is I get so caught up from my sorrows and all the technology around, that I forget this primary need for nature and music. Especially this music. It has something peculiar.
It touched me in such a way that I started crying... I couldn't stop, so many emotions❤️🔥

I started watching "The Last Kingdom" back when I was waiting for the third season of "Vikings" - little did I know that I was going to encounter such a masterpiece, which turned into one of my favorite shows of all time ♥ Although Vikings let me down and became disappointing, The Last Kingdom stays strong. I can't wait for the next season! ♥
Yeah that is exactly how I got into this show and was my impression as well! The first couple seasons of vikings were amazing, then it was still pretty good but after ragnar died it lost it's soul and I stopped watching.
Honestly The Last Kingdom was never as good as the first two seasons of vikings...but it's stayed much more consistently good.

Read the books, the series of books are called The Saxon stories. The first in the series is actually called The Last kingdom, the second is The Pale horseman, 13 in the series so far. All outstanding much better than the show. And the show is excellent.

Just finished watching all 5 seasons in about 2 weeks, best series I have ever seen, an easy 10/10, everything was bloody perfect, from writing, to acting, sets and costumes. Long Live Uhtred of Bebbanburg! And thank you to the team involved in the series
The thing about The Last Kingdom they don't use a massive amount of CGI . and all the scenes are realistic not a cartoon castle. All real fields and people!
This is exactly one of the reasons why it feels good when I watch the show, I can't really connect to the shows that use a lot of CGI
This series literally depicts the birth of a Nation and beautifully showcases how AngloSaxons and Danes eventually morphed into one people! Such a masterpiece!
Unfortunately it does not tell the Celtic side of the story. But yes ,you are reading or watching the formation of England .

What. A. Show. Stumbled across it on Netflix and WOW!! It’s not a competition but hands down destroys Vikings and GoT. The first song perfectly sums up the pain that Uthred suffered and yet continued moving forwards. Phenomenal.

I have never been so emotionally attached and compelled by ANY series as this one. The roller coaster ride of vengeance to pure hate to love and then to forgiveness was sometimes too much...IN ONE EPISODE! LONG LIVE UHTRED THE BOLD!

@@erich7592 Try saying "Fate Is Inexorable" out loud a few times like Alex says "Destiny Is All" at the end of each season and you will realize why they changed it.
It's far more badass to read, but saying it out loud, it does not have the punch that "destiny is all" does, especially when it's meant to instil this sense of an epic proportion and a larger-than-life character/world.

Having loved GOT, Peaky Blinders and other highly lauded dramas, this has, for me, been a new level. The sheer quality and attention to detail, the effort, the acting, emotion and pace. It's an utter spectacle of perfection on every level from all involved. Can't wait for season 5. Gripping and captivating; Destiny is all....

Lol best direction I disagree with. The show has a pacing problem. And doesnt know what it really wants. Character development is all over the place. Its a good show a fun one but it has alot of flaws.

I've just finished watching s03e08. The last scene is a masterpiece. Uhtred captivated by the manuscripts on the table, ghostly silhuette of King Alfred in the shadow and this music in the background. EPIC!
Started watching last kingdom on the 19th and i binged all 4 seasons in 5 days easily became my favourite tv show ever and i cannot fucking wait till season 5

Ich habe alle Bücher gelesen und aus Langeweile mal die erste Folge angeschaut... und dann wurde ich zunehmend verzaubert. Last Kingdom bedeutet überragende, charismatische Schauspieler, tolle Musik, eine unglaublich intensive Geschichte. Ich bin absolut begeistert. 5 Klassen besser als The Witcher, zudem sogar besser als GOT. 👍👍👍

I can’t get into it for some reason, maybe it’s because I watched Vikings & feel invested in their own timeline
I watched both and both are great, I love the fact that this series is more about the history of Anglo-Saxons, so you kinda get to see the other side, especially more of Alfred the great.
But all in all, I think it's not comparable with vikings because the characters are not the same, neither are the events.
I like how they didn’t kill off their main guy. FACT.
Definitely better. I liked Vikings, they have all the ingredients, but they've got lost in their plotlines, they have no purpose, just wandering about) Whereas the story of Uhtred is more understandable and engaging, and shows us two worlds, Anglo-Saxon and Dane, through one character. Though it's not the same now (SPOILER ALERT!) without Alfred and Beocca

I've always been a fan of Bernard Cornwell's books, and the TV show does a very good job at interpreting The Last Kingdom. If you loved it, I also highly recommend The Grail Quest, the main character, Thomas of Hookton has lots of resemblance to Uhtred and it's a thrilling book series!

This is the best drama/action series made bar none. It demolishes GOT and Vikings and the characters are very likable. I hope it continues on for another 6 seasons. After all, there's plenty of material to draw upon.

one of the best series on netflix... so so good, it doesn't feel rushed, all the actors and actresses are really good at what they do, and the script is also well written. It's addictive, it doesn't feel boring or repetitive. Somehow, each episode keeps you wanting to watch more. I'm now on season 4, already stoked for a 5th one and wanting to rewatch the whole thing again hah. I even like it more than game of thrones.

I love the series. My bloodlines include the people’s from Scandinavia,, Anglo Saxon Germany and Celtic peoples from Britian.

This show surprised me.... I started watching it because I wanted something with Vikings in my life (due to missing a viking inspired character I made for d&d). Boy oh boy, did I not expect this work of art. I eagerly watched it all and when s5 came out, I found myself in a love-hate relationship with it as I sobbed through 3/4 episodes in a row. What an amazing show
Up until 15th of March I was also one of those poor souls but then I don't know how the series popped into my UA-cam recommendation list and I binge watched all 5 seasons along with the movie within a span of 8 days...After watching this, i now know that how much underrated this series is...But i know one thing that #TLK will always have a special place in my ❤...

Songs of this series keep me alive when I barely have the motivation to work even though their tunes seem to be soporific. Best songs of one of the best series I have ever seen...
Have to admit, the music of the series is so touchy. I get goosebumps everytime,, It's like my soul feels the deepness of the music and gets warm & healed

Bet by the end of next year we will have the movie to wrap up the lose ends. I started reading the books 10 years ago, and when I saw Netflix bought it from BBC in 2015, I was instantly hooked.
We still have a 2 hour movie to wrap it up! It ain't over yet!!

This series and this profound music speak to my soul. I feel joy, excitement, sorrow... every feeling possible as I'm drawn into the music, storyline, scenery, horses, costumes, and of course the actor's lives. It brings back memories of past lives. Thank you to all involved.
The soundtrack cuts deep to the core... I get goosebumps, especially with Life‘a Thread Uhtred song. This has become my go to for everything even my yoga 🧘♀️ practice. ❤️

Beautifully tragic, heartbreaking, epic and so much more. I am happy I have had the experience of watching "The Last Kingdom". An underrated series, no doubt. Up there with some of the best shows I've seen. Loved Vikings but by season 3 of the last kingdom you start to realise it's actually better.

I just got into this series and MY GOD is it good. The characters are so brilliant, the music, the production good Lord it's such a great series. I can't WAIT for season 5. I've already done my part and started getting my friends into it lol

I actually prefer this series much better than Vikings. I got lost watching Vikings whereas with The Last Kingdom I just want to keep watching it. The characters are great and this soundtrack just works very well, there is something really majestic and peaceful with this music, I just want to close my eyes and relax.
