In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.
I find it hilarious that I had no idea what a Cricket Appeal was and it took 4 different contestants to finally get me to understand.
I still don't quite get it.
@DanAndHoe A cricket appeal is when the boofer throws the sticky wicket at the tongs. Once the wicket hits the tongs the batter can be declared out by the cricket maester. The appeal is when the boofer tries to get the batter out by arguing with the maester. It usually results in the boofer buying the maester a kangaroo or some Macas. Source. I made it up
@@aj1218😐You think you're realllllll funny.
Because you are, and brilliant, and beautiful. Never change.
@@DanDanDoe In cricket, the batter isn't automatically called out by the umpire. The opposing team have to spot that the batter has been got out, and then appeal to the umpire to either confirm or deny the call. The appeal usually takes the form of the shouting of the word "howzat?" (how's that?).
@@aj1218 How do appeals generally end in countries with lower kangaroo populations? Is there a supply of kangaroos at each cricket game, or are they swapped for more convenient local wildlife?
I love that they gave the fake task to a team in this one.
It’s astonishing to see a season where every contestant seems like they’d be the most incompetent contestant on any other season. There is no one here that is good at anything, I love them.
😂😂😂😂😂
Right? I'm halfway through the ep and everyone is an unmitigated disaster
I usually have a contestant that I think will win by the end of the first episode. Three episodes in and I have absolutely no clue
I feel like “no one here is that good at anything” could be Australia’s motto. Except at swimming…and that could honestly be just to allow people to flee to New Zealand.
What's amazing is that they're all disasters in such different ways. Luke is bumbling and awkward. Julia can't be bothered and does the low effort approach. Jimmy is too eager and excitable. Nina is a lil flighty. Lastly Danielle is a sweetheart.
It seems a bit unfair to put both Nina and Luke on the same team. 😂 They're absolute nut jobs and have terrible ideas! I love them both so much.
Also, that live task was amazing!
Jimmy suggested the triplet note idea
The eggs three live in my mind rent free since I first watched this season nearly a year ago😭
I am CRACKIN UP like those eggs. Those riddles were HORRIBLE 😂😂😂😂😂
I was confused when they daid thong
Cultural dictionary for non-Australians (compiled by an actual Aussie):
Hungry Jack's - a franchise of Burger King. It's basically the same, it just has a different name because Burger King was already taken.
Flip flop flap - a play on words. Slip slop slap is a very successful slogan in Australia for remembering appropriate sun protection in the harsh Australian sun. Slip on a t-shirt, slop on some sunscreen, slap on a hat.
Thong - footwear, elsewhere called a flip flop.
I could’ve sworn we refer to the underwear as g-string
@@curioushoodie That's definitely way more common, but I've also heard the occasional use of the term 'thong' amongst friends. I'm guessing it's probably an American influence. Maybe I'll delete that sentence to avoid confusion.
Yeah..."flip flops" is a more popular term for thongs here in the United States. Particularly if you're familiar with the Jimmy Buffet song "Margaritaville".
..."Blew out my flip flop. Stepped on a pop top..."
Sunnies appears to mean shades or sunglasses.
What's up with the "howszat"?
20:58 Nobody could have prepared me for the glorious shitfest that was the egg triplets. Probably one of my favorite taskmaster moments ever.
I honestly thought it was one of those tasks where one member is given a separate task to sabotage it as much as possible.
my stomach hurts because of how much I laughed
Is the word s..fest allowed to be said on Australian tv?
the triplet egg task is such an unmitigated disaster - gotta love it!
Yeah I have no idea what they were going for there.
Strong "my eyes are circles" vibe
Main Tom nailed the description of them as a bad improv troupe from the get-go and it proved true for the rest of the season.
@@PokerJoker811I want the Egg Three to be the new standard multimedia clip for training sessions on good and...less good quality collaboration.
Mish mash of Monty Python and the Holy Grail characters - knights who say ni plus the bridgekeeper from scene 24
“How many times have the moon had an aneurysm” is peak Taskmaster greatness
But who did the time?!
Who did the time ? WHO did the Time ? who dID tHe tIMe?
To the vfx-artist doing the bit with the head replacement: you took extra time to put Toms hands back over the head. You didn't have to do it, but you did it anyways, and i just wanna say: i see you, and i thank you for puting in the effort!
I feel even more confused by that whole Cricket task than the contestants. Not a clue what was going on for any of that.
In cricket, the batter isn't automatically called out by the umpire. The opposing team have to spot that the batter has been got out, and the appeal to the umpire to either confirm or deny the appeal. The appeal usually takes the form of the shouting of the word "howzat?" (how's that?).
@@gregoryclark8217they’re automatically out if they’re caught out convincingly or hit the stumps aren’t they? Appeals are for lbw’s and third umpires
So that one guy who knew about Cricket didn’t actually do an appeal? He just hit the guy and started celebrating.
@akilau not true. Almost all Umpires will just gives it out bowled and caught because they are obvious, even without appeal.
But the rules state that appeal is necessary to give out, even for the aforementioned obvious ways of getting out, umpire can ignore if the team doesn't appeal and just start celebrating. 99.99% will never happen in international games.
Julia reminds me of an Australian version of Catherine O'Hara.
glad i'm not the only one! she does have the same vibe.
The instant transformation to black and white charity presenter was a great moment. Congrats, Julia for this week!
spoiler alert!
don't announce winners in the comments. also, this is aired last april
I really loved that Live Task
same! they should import it to the UK a/o NZ with, perhaps, altered commands.
They used it for Taskmaster Minnesota Season 2 as well.
Yes, most live tasks aren't really interesting to watch (maybe they are for the live audience?). But this one really worked well.
I think that Lesser Tom's perpetually mildly pleased expression is the result of a lifetime of acting happy when he receives really inappropriate presents from friends and relatives.
I am officially Team Julia, I love her so much. I hope after this episode she drove her vehicle.....!
I adore her. She's a treasure
Little tom is casting gold. Second only to Alex himself. His energy is perfect for the TM assistant
I love how he always seems to have a good time and is holding back a smile.
It's the aura of understated smugness. He hardly even needs to talk to the contestants.
I think every TM spinoff has done great at casting their assistant. I think Paul Williams is the gold standard though.
the eyes tho 👁👁
Absolutely agree
The triplet’s “riddles” DESTROYED me 🤣😂
As a New Yorker, it's hilarious that the appeal line Julia asked people to call was a local personal injury law firm that's notorious for its ads
Honestly... they did not specify if the twins/triplets were identical or fraternal 😂
Or musical notes with eggs on their heads. Clarity is key in these things.
I liked the idea of the musical triplets, and I think they may have pulled it off without the added complication of balancing eggs.
This live task was hilarious.
The stage task was just a string of absolute bangers
Luke firmly demanding 5 points will be locked in my core memories for far to long.
I have never heard of her until these started showing but I think Nina Oyama is my favorite contestant on this show
She'd also very good on Deadloch
She attractive but not funny. In my opinion.
@truthyahweh9877 Someone just said they like her as a contestant. Just...leave it. It doesn't matter to them if you find her funny. And they most definitely don't care about who you find attractive.
@Maialeen who cares about yr opinion? So don't care about anyone opinions why comment on my comment??? Haha yr comment is ridiculous. I gave some value unlike u, as in basically asking y it's someone's favorite contestant without asking. Cuz she doesn't give any value to me except being attractive and boring with terrible jokes. So just leave it.... at that.
I didn't like her as well in this episode, but I enjoyed her energy and humour in the previous two. Jimmy has also had a lot of funny moments. The other three are occasionally good but less consistently so (to my tastes).
I could never do the cricket task, I know literally nothing about cricket. That being said what I might do knowing that is have Tom look up a video of somebody making an appeal and I'd try to reenact that
Honestly I would’ve done Nina’s first idea and make cricket sexy
not knowing about cricket didn't stop those contestants! and it's hilarious how the stereotype of every Assie loving cricket is disproven in this task.
Love Australian Taskmaster and the cast, both Toms are killing it! Although I disagree with a lot of points decision here
disagreeing with the points is part of the fun!
This is up there with NZ series two for me. That final task was delightful and Tom is such a step up from Jeremy.
As someone born in the US, a country where cricket basically doesn't exist, I have absolutely no idea what was going on during that appeal task. Even after all 5 contestants and after reading the comments on this video, I have no idea what they were supposed to be doing.
Same for me! Same also for us in Europe whenever everything that has to do with football comes to the talk (which in mainland Europe is called rugby since football for us is the soccer).
Not a single miss with the casts stage wardrobe this week
Nina was rockin that early 2000’s look!
How I describe Julia, Brazen Confidence.
Magnificent cast.
Luke is the first real person I've heard to make that desperate screech at the end of the sentences that means "why am I saying this, why am I here, what's wrong with me"; - the first fictional character being Rowan Atkinson's "groom's best man" who forgot his speech and couldn't stop returning to the two women which shouldn't've been mentioned.
this oz version is much more like the uk original. very enjoyable and amusante. thank you for the laughs.
21:39 Why the hell was I also thinking of the word aneurysm 🤯
You're not the only one. Must be something in the prosody of it.
The triplets were robbed
I finished the whole season last night! Top teir Taskmaster, one of the best seasons out of all the countries right out the gate! Keep it up Australia 🇦🇺
id like to see the other countries (other than UK, NZ, Oz) i wish they were available on this channel.
I thought they released the norsegian one with subtitles on here @@hypnotherapycw
@@hypnotherapycwSweden Norway and Denmark are all on here (although idk which countries you can watch from, I assume if you can see this you can see them all)
That's good to know, I'm definitely having a harder time getting in to it but it took time to adjust to NZ also.
@@barmanitanVPN you can see anything
Congratulations on finding a way of making Friday even better!
Ahh yes, the special task only given to one team lmao
Flashback to Josh Widdicombe counting beans
@@Yewtewba yeah, but this is a special team task that happens with every team task this series lmao
@@OwlRTAI think it gets skipped a few seasons, iirc. I may be conflating international versions and team tasks though. Lol
@@RealBradMillerNo, they're saying that Josh didn't have to count beans after every task he did.
What about David Correos and untying shoelaces?
is it normal for birds to just be swooping in frame constantly in Australia?
Some species of birds swoop to protect their nests. Had a few pairs of finches fighting by me today, they were nearly within arm's length, swooping and landing near me. Hope they figured out their squabble. 😂
Seeing as it was filmed in New Zealand, I'm not sure. Probably, though.
I love how unconfident Lukes' laugh is
23:20 i can't believe in 9 years that the og Taskmaster didn't think of that as a plot twist
Julia appreciation comment
I love love love Julia. She makes the whole season for me!
The phone should have gotten 5 points
Somehow this version feels more like Taskmaster than the original taskmaster.
excellent casting for NZ Oz - tom is great, as well as his trusty assistant, lesser tom
Julia is the best. I find her so funny and clever. I mean, this season is amazing, I love them all but Julia won my heart.
Nina is so precious omg I love her
Julia's "fly" was the best lateral thinking I've seen on any version of the show. Pure genius and wholesomely chaotic.
The team of 3 gave me some strong "The Knights who say Ni" vibes.
The triplets were awful for getting points, but gosh that was hilarious.
I've watched Deadloch so many times and loved the show I just now noticed where I know Nina from!
I just _knew_ Nina was gonna say aneurysm. Would've bet money on it.
Just three episodes in and this has become one of my favorite Taskmaster seasons in any country. They're hilarious and I love it!
6:45 When Nina enters the room, the door opens the opposite way than it does for each of the other contestants. The handle's on the other side, and it opens inwards instead of outwards. I am baffled by this.
It's just an illusion, confused me too at first, watch it at a quarter speed you'll see what I mean
I think i know less about cricket after watching this episode. I thought i understood it, but now i am unsure
It’s a great cultural experience watching this as an American. Planet X is obviously from Duck Dodgers, so very real, and the only cricket appeals that made any sense were the women’s; I was waiting for Jimmy to ever make an appeal and then they suddenly stopped and he just somehow won.
Im not from australia,...can anyone tell me what bird was in all the outdoor scenes just all up in the task space? lol
I don't know the answer to your question but the Taskmaster House is in New Zealand and the 2 shows share it.
another episode where i wonder who ties their shoes in the morning...
That framed portrait in the living room seriously looks like a fatter, older prince William 😂😂😂😂
Like a rotting, inbred, shaved sasquatch with a life altering head injury? I think Tom's got less hair, at least.
I love that in the thong tast, Luke and Jimmy show that it’s not just us Americans that use anything-but-metric. (I know Little Alex Horne does too but he could be an honorary American. 😛 )
The sound mixing during the title sequence of this upload is insane
Seems like the editing has gotten a little do-over or just improved over the last three episodes, thanks so much for your efforts! The live task gave us a little bit more time to warm up to Greater Tom as well, which it a really good idea for the start of TM AUS :)
this was such a great episode! every 6 or 7 minutes i would notice i haven't stopped grinning since i clicked play so would try to make myself stop.. that would last about 10 seconds then about 6 or 7 minutes later i would realize i didn't actually top haha
Planet X betrayed us!!!
look, they are just very very shy and introvert and likes to be live out there alone
@@enisra_bowmanAnd stop saying we can sense it's gravitational pull... They are very sensitive about their weight. 😂🙄
First individual task for a team! How innovative
jimmy has solidified himself as my favorite contestant this season
33:57 there’s that bird again! Paid actor, no doubt!
(In seriousness, I think the bird is in a similar vein to the fun airplane or cloud edits in UK Taskmaster. I hope to see it pop up a couple more times!)
That live task was SO fun.
The triplets were way better than the twins imo. They got robbed, especially considering the point differential. Isn’t it usually 4 and 2 points, not 5 and 1?
The Taskmaster's word is final.
@@guyjackson132 I’m pretty sure the Producers’ word is final haha so same thing basically. I just found it weird that the point differential was so big for the team task this time, but maybe I’m misremembering past series.
@@HelloTygrOriginally on the UK one they would split five points between the two teams. After some time it became whatever Greg wanted, usually 5 for the winning team (unless they sucked) and the losers getting an amount based on how Greg thinks they did relatively. Usually it is 5-4 or 5-3 as usually both sides are pretty good. Here, I find 5-1 pretty fair.

Cricket task. Couldn't follow 😂 greetings from Europe
Me neither, but still had a laugh :-)
Sorry for the random JoJo reference but Nina's hair is cute and reminded me a little of Jolyne Cujoh of Stone Ocean fame
Hello from Colorado! Thanks for the upload!
i'm canadian. i've never seen a game of cricket and have no idea how it works. I STILL don't know what they mean by a cricket appeal. lol
I'm enjoying the series, but I keep getting distracted by how beautiful Nina's arms are.
I can visualise my uncle bursting a vein in his forehead at Nina's appeal.
Nina's pre-worming prize task is so funny
This is my favourite non-uk series so far. Great contestants
They keep saying thong and I have to remind myself it's not underwear every time lmaoooo
why does the golden head kind of look like a Roman Emperor🤣
I don't know why i laughed so hard at the triplet task but it tickled something inside me.
Do us Canadians a favour and keep the Canadian geese there!
He should have got the 50 dollars. Would have been comedy gold
Now I have to watch a real cricket game to see the giraffe play?
Someone messed up on the video description... :)
42:57 adore that end shot of julie it’s modern art
I don't even know what cricket is. :/
Its crazy that a flip flop is called a thong
Wake up fam! It's that magical time!
Okay, I know it's a bit of a mean thing to say, but I really, really, really am glad we have a Taskmaster who is funny, good at banter and understands how to reward creativity again again. Jeremy Wells was a bit soul crushing.
I've watched only two seasons of TMNZ so far, but Jeremy seems to do better in the second one, so I refuse to give up on him.:-) That's a tough gig. Tom is great!
Julia is AMAZING and should have gotten all 5 points for that final task HANDS DOWN legend
for a sec there i thought they were goin for the classic monthy python and the holy grail questions lol. should have known they were gonna ask abt moon aneurysms
Happy upload everybody! This cast is so extremely endearing. Julia's charity advertisement will live in my head from now on
I have a better grasp of quantum physics than I have of cricket.
I thoroughly enjoyed the triplets three! Reminded me of the knights who say knee.
Jesus, its going to be better and better from tje episode to episode. Great! :D
great episode!
the cricket task was hillarious... wonder if it is funny to people who know what cricket is 😅
