Paul mc duff How was the test drive, did the mod work? These cars are riddled with bad faults like this and even the main stealers can fix em!! Just remember to not leave the ignition on other wise it will knacker your fuel pump. M.
You are very welcome, this bypass is a get you out of trouble and I would suggest taking it to a reputable garage and getting it checked and fixed Good luck
This is really interesting. I’ve just fitted this engine to a Nova! currently the fuel relay is not clicking. But I wonder if the brown earth output wire is controlled by the key and transponder? So if the key is not next to the transponder, does it stop the output to the fuel relay?
It’s to do with the EGR system, there’s a black box left hand side of the battery in there is a fan, not sure if it’s a cooling fan or a pump of some kind
I must be the only one this hasn't worked for!? This must mean its not the ecu right? I'm gonna try the fuel pump. Still cuts out at running temp and got code p0230 from pedal test. Any ideas?!
Hi my friend i have a question ..when you open the switch all cars starts the fuel pump for fue minutes but i dont hear mine starts and my relay clicks until i start the car but i have a hard start .. i think this is my problem .. what i want is astra going to start a pump for a fue minutes like others on opened switch ?
Hi sorry for delay in replying, it’s sounds the case to me that your ECU is toast, a common fault with these vehicles and it’s not as easy as just buying second hand and plug and play you have to get them programmed to the car. Best of luck my friend
auto uk Hi the problem is the ECU that’s bolted to the right side of the cylinder head, when the engine warms up the ECU looses the earth to the fuel injection relay and just shuts off open circuit and stops the engine, these 1.6 Astras are plagued with this fault. You should try the relay bypass on the earth and see if it works, though this mod should only be a temp repair as you are bypassing the earth from the ECU and the fuel pump will run with just the ignition on all the time until you switch off, you may be lucky and not have a problem, my dads car worked ok but was later written off in an accident but I have seen when you do this mod it causes other faults but my dads was ok :-) Try the mod and see how you get on but you may still get trouble. Read the description on what is advised on there. And good luck and I think you’ll find to repair this the correct way will mean a new ECU and reprogram which will be expensive. Good luck
I have the same problem and my mechanic did this bypass (also bought new fuel pump, but did not help), but after one day, i get the exhaust light on and does not turn of even when i start it up cold. Car runs fine, but i'm not sure if this light is cause of this bypass or is there any other fault. I did the pedal test to check the error codes and i got 0130, 0230 and two times 1230 (but this code does not exists, so i've to check that codes one more time). My mechanic said, that after he replaced the pump with new one, car turned on fine but relay would switch off the pump as soon as the engine heated up a little. So he made this bypass. But i'm suspecting some faulty joints or something... I'm going to take the car to the other mechanic, which is more an car electrician but i would like to hear some advise before that, if possible.
75Markoj The trouble is these cars a riddled with faults like this and even main dealers can fix em, this worked on my father in law car and he has since wrote it off and now scraped it but was ok until that time. You possibly could remove the ECU and send it away for testing, like you say it could well be a dry soldered joint or contact in the ECU and when it warms up it shuts the earth signal to the relay thus shutting down the engine, with the bye pass it could be throwing up other codes due to it thinks it should be shut down!! Hope your sparky can find the fault but I have read that people have had all electric components replaced even new ECU and they are still the same! Not saying go and buy a new ECU, get it tested first and hopefully it will flag up with something, then you’ll know. Good luck M
No fault codes stored in the ECU unfortunately, that’s what makes it a mission to sort the fault. You automatically go straight for the relay then the fuel pump but it’s the ECU knocking out the relay which in turn shuts down the fuel pump, 9 times out of 10 mechs will go that way. If you got a code flagged up and it points to the 02 sensor then your lucky and a faulty 02 sensor will make the engine cut out. Fingers crossed for ya!! Good luck.
@@starwin2000 hopefully it is just the 02 sensor then. But if its a faulty 02 wudnt it just idol and behave a bit crappy not just cut out then only start after around 10 minutes it is wierd, when it don't start it seems like there's no fuel going through that's what worries me. Thanks for your response.
Jason Crane Obviously you will need to fix the 02 problem first and get rid of the EML but hopefully it is just that. What normally happens is from cold the car will start and run no problem and when the engine warms up it just cuts out, no engine management light or rough running... nothing?? Let me know how you get on 👍🏻 Good luck 🤞
@@starwin2000 Nice one mate, I cleared the code then let the car run until it shut off and the 02 sensor code came back so I'm sure it's that so ordered a new one. 👍
Hi I have Opel astra,g,2001,1600,16valve. Diagnotic test says voltage to high and error P0443. Motor runs jerky.Dealers say this car dont have a fuel ventilation valve it needs t be bypassed.Anyone with knowledge.
The evap valve vents the tank at cruising speeds to burn the hydrocarbon vapour in the tank if it was stuck open it can cause idling issues also check the carbon canister for cracks if the ecu is not switching the valve it could be wiring or an ecu problem but also the solenoid in the valve may have a high resistance causing a fault code to be flagged.
I have same Problem with my Opel Astra 1.4-16V from 2003. I replaced the ignition coil, fuel pump and relay. I also checked for fault codes. I have a question for ya, Do i need to replace the Relay after i placed the wire bridge between the 2 points? I tried starting engine without relay but motor won’t start if he’s hot.
I tried the wire bridge with plugging the relay back in and it dident help. Still won’t start. I do have fault codes from the Ecu about the fuel pump relay that is have not enough voltage. But i changed the relay with an aftermarket one. Maybe i do need the original one?
Hi there When you bridged the wire and just turn on the ignition does the fuel pump start working? That’s no crank just ignition on, with the bridged wire the fuel pump will start pumping
@@starwin2000 i remember when i tested with the bridge, it won't start again. Unless i let it cool down for an half hour. It's possible i have a different ECU. ( i have the Delphi Delco Multec )

Sorry for late reply my friend I had to take a screenshot of your question and use apple translate with the new apple update. In your case I would suggest testing power to fuel pump when your car doesn’t start or breaks down. Could be possible fuel injection relay they have a tendency to play up and stop working, seems strange that it’s burning out fuel pumps every time, also change your fuel filter if that’s clogged it would put more strain on your pump Good luck let me know how you get on 👍🏻

Remember you will need a inertia cut off switch to stop that fuel pump in case of accident.
