It isn't bad to read the older works, but the cool things about books like the New Gods your creating (ram v) or the Ultimate Universe Marvel is creating now, it makes older stories interesting so readers want to go back to read them. Being many stories deal with history of the day, it is always good to find great new reads, as the old ones were written in a different world.... I can't wait to read these New God books - I have never read the old ones, but after reading this I'm sure it will motivate me to want to read the older ones.... And when reading an older version of a IP after reading a modern version, it may make the older read more fullfilling, and may make it easier to see and appriciate some of the desired messages of that original creator come threw even though they were writing for another audiance - it may begin to feel u are part of that audiance do to great writing transending eras....
I think I couldn’t worded my sentiment a little better. I think that the I dusted doesn’t need to re-create past works in the modern day, and it must adapt for the time. I have a deep love of Jack Kirby, and I love his work, but for modern works, I don’t want to see people trying to capture his vision because he never sought out to recapture other creators’ works. Creators can learn from Kirby, without trying to BE Kirby. I was certainly nervous during the interview, so I stumbled a bit in my explaining of my ideas, so I hope this helps!
@@ComicKrackle I know I will read these New Gods as I have told people that in my eyes Kirby's New Gods were unfinished in the way of many of Tolkiens works, and so I have to read them. I have heard they are great works, but have seen videos stating that he wanted to use IPS he created from past works he wasn't allowed to, but being he couldn't complete his works, I will be happy to see others continue in their own ways.
Excellent interview! Ram is terrific and you did an incredible job here
Thank you Owen! 🫶
Very excited for the newest run of New Gods
The fact that Dawn Runner was one of my favorite books of the year and then the SAME TRAM is coming back to do NEW GODS?!?! My cup runneth over 🤩
