Thanks so much for bringing everyone along on your Rampage adventure, I watched all the team Brendog vlogs and loved everything you guys did out there. The look on Olly and Deaks face when they hear the score will stay with me for a while. Deaks disbelief shock and anger and Olly disbelieving and gutted before remembering that they’d achieved something amazing and Bren was going away safe after completing a flawless run. Thank you gentlemen. 🙏😭👍
i would love to see you guys dig for one of the girls. Hoping next year the girls get more riders, and I think your experience can bring a winning run. I dint think its a surprise to anyone, including the people in charge or Rampage, that the three of you bring so much attention to the event, and put on an amazing show both during dig day vlogs, and finals. Bringing that level of hype to the women's competition would be insane.
Great sportsmanship and diplomacy in the face of being shafted by the redbull judges. Many of us won't be watching next year. Be happy and proud of your incredible build and freeride & also the connection your fans feel enough to have swamped social media with amazing support - congratulations !!!
Very pragmatic and honest replay of the Rampage events. Thanks for your honesty about the whole trip. Loved all the content the three musketeers generated for the Rampage expedition. Would be great to see what the three of you could do for one on the ladies teams next year or just films of your perspective from the other side of the tape.
As ever the consulate professionals, very eloquently put! Brendan, Olly and Deeks are such a brilliant guys, bringing us all along for the ride! much respect from this grey haired rider who loves bikes as you all do!
Good to see you both upbeat and a brilliant review of rampage . Shocked judges apologised for last year and encouraged this years line just to give you a bigger kick in the nuts but somehow not surprised. The judges have made rampage all about them when it should be all about the riders
You two (three) are the epitome of humile (had to look that up: adjective of humility) - Bren’ is clearly the last true freerider, with the only freeride line in a freeride competition… Godzy had an incredible run, but it erred on the side of slopestyle, less freeride. You were the best team with the best vlogs, best mates and best times, I couldn’t be happier that you made it to the end without incident, but you were robbed of a true reflection of the quality of your line and teamwork, the quality of ride and the incredible lad science that made the whole thing work so well… maybe, if you were to go back, then there would be some judges that know what they are doing. Olly, you are clearly gifted in your ability to create insane rides for insane riders like The Dog to do what he does and you have, without doubt, earned the greatest respect - you dig: he safe… I bow to your glory. Respect to you all - be well and stay safe.
Alot of people have the exact same feelings as the world.... Absolutely shocking results for you, should have been No1 for sure. Everything you have all done for me is what counts. If your not at rampage next year I certainly won't be watching it. Be super proud of yourselves guys.. absolutely amazing build and what a ride 🙏🏼🤙🏼🥇
Loved watching all the vlogs on the build & finals, you guys are a riot, really good humor & hard work. “Made it look to easy” is a true testament of your skill level & determination, a sign of a true master of his craft. Thanks for all the entertainment you guys gave us. Really hope to see you in it next year, totally understand if you choose otherwise.
Loved getting to come along for the ride of rampage with all you boys' videos once again. You boys smashed it. The score wasn't a suprise after previous experiences. Only one thing for it, start your own freeride event where no tricks are allowed, just raw biking down a mountain. Cheers boys!
“Ahhhhhh. Bugger.” Summed up the thoughts of the Rampage loving audience in 2 words there 😂 heads held high still, thanks so much for all the content and stoke 👊
Thanks for the good ending of that journey. I loved to follow you 3 and you put so much passion in everything you did. Hope you will recover from the sad ending and give a fuck on the judging. It is what it is. You gave so much to all of us and everyone loved to watch your videos. That is much more than fucking 76 Points from a bunch of grumpy judges. Thank you for everything. It was a hell of a ride 😂❤👍💯🫶👌🚀🤩
Totally understand not wanting to go back after that result. Glad to hear your guys take on it and something really does need to change in terms of the judging and what the event appears to be moving towards. It would be sick if the three of you went and dug a line for one of the girls next year. I’ve loved following the build on the vlogs. I spent every evening hopping between Bren, Olly and Deak’s channels waiting for the latest videos and following along. Would love to see more of that if you guys dig for one of the girls next year. It would be a huge shame for all that knowledge and experience of building out there to go to waste!
Rampage is the highlight of the biking calendar for me, and that’s purely down to you guys sharing the journey with us through vlogs and drivetime. Thanks for all the years!
I don't know if it could work, but the raddest thing would be to let the riders decide who won. The mutual respect and stoke for each other is what makes this such a great sport.
Firstly thank you for taking on your mad adventure. You three are just comedy gold. Secondly, well done on being honest and humble. I think you boys did an incredible job and you DO deserve the diggers award. The workload and stress you had to deal with was insane. I have watched Rampage from the early days of Spring magazine. I think Bren defo should have scored much higher because the line was what I believe Ramage should be. Find the sketchiest line and make it work. Also the idea of sharing lines should be a limited thing. 6+ on a dig is always going to get a better line than 3. Ramage is a big mountain free ride event and tricks are cool but shouldn't be the dominating feature. That's what Cranworx is. The judges have got a hell of a job on the day. Maybe the end result shouldn't be soul "The Run". Perhaps judges should go see the lines, and the riders and see just what it's like for those falling down the side of a huge cliff in some form of control. You all did a brilliant job and are total goons and as it happens legends.
You guys make literally rampage what it is. I’m gutted at brens score but in other ways I don’t care where he came, your 3 vlogs and everything surrounding it are so good and draw so many people in, look forward to it every year! Keep it up! !
Would you want to go back next year? Brendan you rode an amazing line and proved once again you’re one of the top dogs in mtb. It doesn’t matter if people may or may not be better than you, you’re a legend who motivates young ones to ride. Ollie you’re an amazing trail builder who should be getting calls from all over the world, and Deaks’ food blog was just epic…😂 Whatever you guys decide for the next year, I’m sure you’ll get the credit you deserve. Though one idea could be a burger van for Deaks and go work for him… Or set up a monster true original rampage style comp in the uk, maybe in the Lake District. You’ve got the pull and backing I reckon. Something you’d like to see people you want to ride in.
Looking forward to the next one, whenever that may be. Well done lads you created another dimension to Rampage. Combining Ollie's Drivetime, Deek's Food Reviews and Brendog's Athlete's perspective brought the event to life watching the lines evolve and seeing the banter, anticipation and excitement. Shame result wise, but you did good.
Man rampage is not gonna be the same without you there ! Always loved your line, your creativity and of course the videos the days leading up to the event ! I really like the idea of you digging for a girls team tho
You made the Rampage line I wanted to see. The next Lad Science t-shirt should show Bren on the top of the rock. I've got the Rampage flannel shirt and I've order a Lad Science T-shirt, but I'm guessing it won't be here in time for me to go as Olly for Halloween. 🤣
We are all totally gutted the way Rampage all turned out!! All the effort, build up and line/ramp building was exactly what we all want to see!!!! Anyone can find a big drop to build a kicker and flip or whip ! Rampage and how its judged has gone in one direction and we all loose out because of it! Its clear now that comps like Hardline are where we see the true essence of the sport showcasing both Ladies and Men's elite athletes. Will follow where ever Brendan, you and the crew decide to compete and ride, love the content, community is amazing as always.
"wrong end of the stick" cracked me up!😂 keep on pushing guys your all insane and as a team were very hard done by to say the least.... ordered my lad science tee 🤙
The rampage chat was spot on, but something else I've taken from this video is how good the tracking is in that van, Bren spent a lot of the drive without his hand on the wheel 👍👏👏👍
It's been absolutely brilliant watching you three, yes Bren was robbed ( mistakenly thought it was a free ride event) but it was the most entertaining run, definitely the most entertaining you tubers. Now get home and post my T-shirt. All the best God bless you all, get some rest, after posting my T-shirt 😂
I love the idea of the dynamic positioning, it feels a lot more fair, especially if you consider how the guys who drop first historically get lower scores.
Ur lads vlogs the drive time ..deaks' vlogs the line you built was actually better than the final competition I watched every vlog leading up to it and watched brendogs run then got bored with the rest !! Keep doing what you do lads please
Like I said at the top of insta360 on Saturday... I fucking LOVE your content and you're all legends!!!! Thanks for being an absolute G and letting me grab a picture with you dude 😎🤘🤘🤘🤘
appreciate all the effort guys , 100 percent entertainment , even the food reviews. definitely Bummed for you guys regarding the judging but the quickest look on the red bull highlights comment section should help you feel better. also, digging for the girls is an excellent idea.
It actually seems really simple to solve the scoring issue. Just have set in stone categories for scoring that each have a maximum score. So you can have 10 points for each of Tricks, Exposure, Creativity, Amplitude, Flow, Speed and Overall Impression. Each judge scores each category independently and highest and lowest judges are excluded the remainder is averaged to give the overall score. The less wishy-washy the scoring system, the more riders and viewers can accept the result.
Its quite easy to sort. The judges have a score card of say 10 categories, creativity, amplitude, speed, exposure, tricks etc and they score each athlete out of 10 for each category. No discussing in the booth and results from each judge are shown and totalled up giving the final rider score. That way a gnarly exposed chute that scores a 9 for exposure can offset another riders tricks that scored a 9. Totally fair and the riders can ride whichever style they want and get scored accordingly. Peace and love #ladscience
all 3 of you were brilliant, the whole thing, you guys produce the best vlogs bar none, Bren diid a unique and perfect techie freeride line and got shafted for a 2nd year in a row. It obvious, you know int, the people watching know it, the people who voted for you know it, and so do the judges (the arseholes).
So I woke up in the middle of the night with this great rampage idea. Firstly, riders and diggers are scored as a team and each line is given a pre-drop in score based on creativity and insanity. Shared lines or features score less. For the run itself, each of the judges is fitted with a sensitive electronic rectal probe that detects how tightly the anal sphincter is clenching and how much arse sweat is produced. This data is then displayed to the audience in real time, in the form of an on screen graphic and an average value between 0-100 given for the whole run. The clench/sweat value is then added to the creativity/ insanity value which creates an overall team score. Highest score wins. And that my friends is how lad science saves Rampage. Basically the event is judged by a roomful of tight, sweaty arseholes. Oh...wait a minute.....
Hey - at least you have something completely bonkers to feel glum upon! Still, it's a bit of a gut punch to not be appreciated like y'all should have been. Have a fun autumn season!
Rampage needs to be about the venue again, not about the riders if that makes sense. Rampage was always a location that was unique, with unique lines and knarly riding. A sculptured hill with the biggest jumps is what the Fest series is about. Brendon's run was insane, something that showed the essence of Rampage over the last 20years. The 'main line' down the hill has sculpted the heart out of Rampage.
In a recent year Brandon did a ninja drop into a disgusting chute and didn’t score that well so I think you’re spot on he decided to do bmx tricks in the desert which no one else can get close to
Spent more time watching your vlogs than the actual event.. What you should do is create something like the video comps jon olsson did back in the days. Riders come to the venue and then have 1/2weeks to build a line and film an edit, which then is judged in some way.
Question for you gents if the UCI can dictate the specifications of a road bike then should a freeride event dictate the spec of a freeride bike ie single or dualcrown forks only or both on different days or under 180travel front n rear or over 200mm front n rear etc etc lovin the drivetime format great work gents
Agree with everything you said in here guys. It’s a no good thing to hear this tho and finding out that people had apologised from the judging board is very concerning. Love the way you have handled it tho. Hot Take : Rampage should become an exhibition event like Darkfest. With a similar awards system ie : King and Queen [Culmination of hitting it all sub categories.] Best Trick, Best Line, Steep Freak etc. The media that could come of something like that would be incredible. Throw up the major prize money for King and Queen and split the rest of the pool across the other awards. There you go Redbull you can have that for free.
If the thought of Bren (Rampage) Brendog not riding rampage again isn’t bad enough!…..it’s devastating that we’ll never have digteam BF pull their magic in a totally entertaining buildup 😢 More lad science! 🤟🏼
If Rampage went back to being a big mountain event it might basically be Brandon vs Gee. Semenuk riding inverted chutes and Gee somehow gapping from the middle of the course into the finish area. Also Brage would do Brage things with wooden features that weren't there before and Red Bull's wooden stuff would mysteriously disappear...
The problem was, Bren made it look sooooo effortless and easy, that the commentators didn't get the opportunity to cream over the drama of sketchy landings.
For days, I've been livid about the results, but then it dawned on me: Whether Red Bull realizes it or not, for all the money they throw at their own riders and whatnot, the amount of free promotion they provided to Brendog (a non-Red Bull rider) via their relentless years-long judging shenanigans is the real self-own. Crikey, I'd wager the t-shirt revenue alone proves my statement, but every sponsor Bren has should be absolutely thrilled for all the screen-time and brand-building they got AFTER the judges shat all over Bren's run. I know GoPro is...why else use footage from the guy who finished 11th? The one thing Red Bell cannot BUY is the level of love and goodwill the MTB community feels for Bren and the boys as they once again defeat the Goliath (the terrain) only to be chucked into the dumpster like so much trash by the Red Bull's shit-poor judging. Will Bren be back at Rampage next year, you ask? How could he resist? He's got a family to feed, after all. Let's just hope Red Bull never wises up.
There needs to be a bigger push to define Free Ride and Slope Style. For my money. Brendog’s was the only true Free Ride line. This would help get more of those gnarly riders into Rampage and see some variation. Otherwise it’s all the same lines. Same tricks. I’m not taking anything way from the other riders, it’s all mental and takes huge balls to ride. It’s just a jacked up slope style. Not free ride.
Very diplomatic. The judging was a mess. Seemed to be focused on making sure Red Bull's golden boy takes top spot (again, zzz), everyone else's just seemed arbitrary, and the riders should be happy getting tossed some crumbs. You guys do more for raising the profile of that event than any of the other riders, it's Red Bull's loss.
I'm not saying its right but but slopestyle tricks sell television better than big mountain and anyway you may not have done as well as you hoped but you won the audience hands down fact.
That can't be true surely ....i can't watch a full run of slope style , they all look the same flip flip spin flip spin...it's the only event i don't care to watch at crankworx
Not to be a conspiracy theorist, but I'm wondering if your low score was more about having you fall out of the top 8 and not come back rather than your actual results. Watching the broadcaster say you "make it look too easy" kind of pissed me off. Seemed kind of personal. Thanks for the last couple of weeks. Really enjoyed following along!
When I saw Semenuk at the moment of him knowing he was the winner he was not happy at all, something was going on. It was the worst Rampage ever in every aspect,if the wind is too much for that show they are making something very wrong. It was boring to watch, only good stuff was YOUR run. You killed it with the previous videos, other riders did nothing for Rampage in terms of publicity and videos, take the same line and made some tricks, but nothing you have seen 20 times at this moment. Now it is a slope stile competition in a windy place.
Ban single crown forks in my opinion. You shouldn't be able to ride down a rugged mountain/hill like that in a freeride event. If it's turning into all these tricks that you cant really do on a triple crown fork, then why bother holding the event at the current venue? Virgin, Utah is so rugged, steep, rough & natural, why can it be allowed for dig teams to smooth the mountain out so much that you can ride a bike down it that they are selling in my local bike shop?
Humble boys, well put, well dug, well documented and well ridden!! 🤘🤘
Digging for one of the girls is the best idea!! Would love to see that.
i would love to see you guys dig for one of the girls.
Deeks is busy on TripAdvisor doing food reviews
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Great sportsmanship and diplomacy in the face of being shafted by the redbull judges. Many of us won't be watching next year. Be happy and proud of your incredible build and freeride & also the connection your fans feel enough to have swamped social media with amazing support - congratulations !!!

Would be great to see what the three of you could do for one on the ladies teams next year or just films of your perspective from the other side of the tape.
There’s a reason Bren got the people’s choice, and thats because we all want Rampage to be your line! 🤘🏻
Awesome. Thanks for doing this, so many of us were so invested, it gives us closure to hear your take on it.
1. Godzy
2/3 Tmac or TVS
4/5 Semenuk or Brendog
100% agreed
By the far the best thing about rampage was these drivetimes and vlogs from you three, super enjoyable thank you all so much for bringing us along!!
Nice one. Thanks for all videos, loved it.
As ever the consulate professionals, very eloquently put! Brendan, Olly and Deeks are such a brilliant guys, bringing us all along for the ride! much respect from this grey haired rider who loves bikes as you all do!

I came for you guys. Still haven't watched the redbull feed. Got my tee shirt ordered.

I love the idea of the dynamic positioning, it feels a lot more fair, especially if you consider how the guys who drop first historically get lower scores.
You boys killed it and entertaining as fuck throughout
The judging just sums up the state of the world as a whole right now .
I agree with Bren that not having everything packed down does make it look so much more rampage.
Brendog 🥇🥇
Ur lads vlogs the drive time ..deaks' vlogs the line you built was actually better than the final competition I watched every vlog leading up to it and watched brendogs run then got bored with the rest !! Keep doing what you do lads please
New rules, no single crown forks, no sharing lines but a common jump line all riders must use to the finish. Reverse the starting order.
Like I said at the top of insta360 on Saturday... I fucking LOVE your content and you're all legends!!!! Thanks for being an absolute G and letting me grab a picture with you dude 😎🤘🤘🤘🤘
A really interesting watch. You must all be such nice guys, I'd be going to war or planning to set up my own proper free ride event
appreciate all the effort guys , 100 percent entertainment , even the food reviews. definitely Bummed for you guys regarding the judging but the quickest look on the red bull highlights comment section should help you feel better. also, digging for the girls is an excellent idea.

Just like looking at scenery
Upload this in brendon’s channel as well!! More reach!
!!!
Late to the party. I agree, Brendan your track down was the most raw and treacherous of them all. Keep riding and building tracks bro’s
Its quite easy to sort. The judges have a score card of say 10 categories, creativity, amplitude, speed, exposure, tricks etc and they score each athlete out of 10 for each category. Totally fair and the riders can ride whichever style they want and get scored accordingly.

Maybe tap up Monster for support and do what Sam Reynolds has done. Create your own freeride event!
Lad science tshirt with canyon gap, flip nac or on top of the rock?

Rampage needs to be about the venue again, not about the riders if that makes sense. Rampage was always a location that was unique, with unique lines and knarly riding. A sculptured hill with the biggest jumps is what the Fest series is about. Brendon's run was insane, something that showed the essence of Rampage over the last 20years.
The 'main line' down the hill has sculpted the heart out of Rampage.
In a recent year Brandon did a ninja drop into a disgusting chute and didn’t score that well so I think you’re spot on he decided to do bmx tricks in the desert which no one else can get close to
Where did drivetime 8 go? Was just gonna catch up cos I missed it :’(
It didn’t upload
Apologies. I’ll put it up another time 😂
@@owilkins23 ahh no worries bro! You been a busy boy
Spent more time watching your vlogs than the actual event..
What you should do is create something like the video comps jon olsson did back in the days.
Riders come to the venue and then have 1/2weeks to build a line and film an edit, which then is judged in some way.
✌🏻
Question for you gents if the UCI can dictate the specifications of a road bike then should a freeride event dictate the spec of a freeride bike ie single or dualcrown forks only or both on different days or under 180travel front n rear or over 200mm front n rear etc etc lovin the drivetime format great work gents
Drive time to dyfi 👌
JUST CALL IT WHAT IT IS... 'MENTAL...WITH BRENDOG'
If the thought of Bren (Rampage) Brendog not riding rampage again isn’t bad enough!…..it’s devastating that we’ll never have digteam BF pull their magic in a totally entertaining buildup 😢
More lad science! 🤟🏼
Btw…..where is episode 8??
If Rampage went back to being a big mountain event it might basically be Brandon vs Gee.
Semenuk riding inverted chutes and Gee somehow gapping from the middle of the course into the finish area.
Also Brage would do Brage things with wooden features that weren't there before and Red Bull's wooden stuff would mysteriously disappear...
The problem was, Bren made it look sooooo effortless and easy, that the commentators didn't get the opportunity to cream over the drama of sketchy landings.
best bit bren refused to drink a redbull after his run
For days, I've been livid about the results, but then it dawned on me:
Whether Red Bull realizes it or not, for all the money they throw at their own riders and whatnot, the amount of free promotion they provided to Brendog (a non-Red Bull rider) via their relentless years-long judging shenanigans is the real self-own.
No return next year I’m afraid ☹️
@@owilkins23 Doink! Their loss.
I agree that riders need to share less features. That would force more creativity and make the digging matter more.
Redbull needs to rebrand rampage to big mountain slopestyle then
That can't be true surely ....i can't watch a full run of slope style , they all look the same flip flip spin flip spin...it's the only event i don't care to watch at crankworx
I thought the broadcaster was embarrassed about the scoring and was feeling a little shame trying to cover for the company when he said that.
So then... please explain to me what the difference between freeride, freeline, and rampage really means!
I definitely don’t know!
I agree make it less slopestyle biking
i think Brendon gained more followers through being robbed than he would have if the judging was fair.
Judges ruined the event again! Brendog the real champ! People’s champ!!
Van snack vlog? 😢
You guys digging for a women's team would be so sick!
