Just so you know, I have a few wooden hutches that are 6 years old. We end up replacing the roof every 3 years from weather rot. We also have to clean pee off all the time to keep the legs from rotting. completely Wire is the better way to go if you have a shed or barn to keep them in. Also wood attracts mites. If you want a wood hutch to last make sure you keep it painted and have shingles on the roof. try to keep it dry. Nice hutch though. I would build this if I didn't keep them in a shed. :)
Congrats!!! Once it warms up here I am going to be building my hutches hopefully. I build 2 becasue like you said I couldn't move a 16ft hutch by myself LOL...
hey those are going to be nice pens. are they 2by2? And i have a question how big are your dutch cross rabbits. Because my sister just got two dutch and i was wondering how big they are going to get. Because I raise Flemish giants and compared to them, they are so small. thanks.
Nice craftsmanship, especially calculating for minimal waste. I may be jumping ahead, but do you shield the wood with plastic or steel before you lay down the hardware cloth? Even with PT lumber, wouldn't the urine do tons of damage?
I love your set up im planning on building one for my meat rabbits but I have a question about the wiring floor does the poop get stuck or have any problems falling threw the half inch by half inch squares? i know smaller rabbits probably wouldn't but what about bigger meat rabbits?
Wire flooring is actually healthier for rabbits EVEN THOUGH IT IS ONTHE FEET it keeps them out of their feces, I raise show quality pedigreed holland lops which are only 2-4 pounds and I have had experience with wood floors and they made my best rabbit sick. The ammonia from the feces can make them sick so wire is better. Sore hocks are not caused by wire floors rather the Health of the rabbit
I've watched this video so many times, and the only thing that's stopped me from building a copy cat unit is that I can't see wood doing well out where I live. I wonder if I could build something similar using 10' lengths of EMT conduit instead of wood. I've made conduit trellises that I kept stable by pounding rebar in the ground, then slide the conduit over it- while it's light, that thing isn't going ANYWHERE. Any thoughts?
@JRSKICK1's channel. Do u have plans written out for this cage?? Would like to build one. Have rabbits in cages on the ground but wanting to get them off ground. -thanks
the orycto rabbits you raise to eat are native to europe & live in vast colonies underground & seldom come out at night. therefore theyre used to the dark & when underground to no drafts. yet here theyre kept in cages where they get much draft & glare. is this showing sensitivity to them?
dig out a walk in root cellar for your rabbits so theyll be warm in winter & cool in summer & quiet so that they can sleep days as theyre used to in the wild. theyll love you
are wild tunnels sanitary afaik any external infect of rabbits is healed by dusting the infected area w. sulfur powder this goes for ear mites too you can get sulfur powder from humco you might be able to get bulk sulfur cheaper elsewhere & you could dust the tunnels periodically your bits will love you
that looks like lot of work we make all wire cages no wood thay will last for ever it makes the cleaning alot easyer all so and you dont dont have to worry about repairing the wood form the urine thay spray
Blanco how does god classify rabbits very highly id assume since he made them so deliteful to humans & youre doing your damndest to wreck the work of god you pagan
In your next life what if you came back as a rabbit and someone kept you in a cage and then treated you how you are treating these bunnies..... They will kill you, skin you and rip you apart then shit you out while drinking a liter of dr. Pepper

Thanks for these videos, I'm going to start building this hutch today. Very helpful!

I love your video keep making them. I made a cage like yours great video on building your cage thanks

my rabbit went missing with i was like 6 and now i find this playlist in my dad's channel, oh no-
I love this video it really helped me make a large cage instead of a single cage
can you post a complete material list on boards you used i'm about to go buy material to make my own
Do your rabbits ever get sore hocks from the hardware cloth?

Want to ask why you choose wood over all wire cages? Researching getting started. Thank in advance.
@JRSKICK1 one more question how wide is that roll of wire you used?
Don't rabbits like to chew wood? But it's not a problem to use treated lumber?
How wide is it? and what are the actual SINGLE cage size?
@JRSKICK1's channel. Do u have plans written out for this cage?? Would like to build one. Have rabbits in cages on the ground but wanting to get them off ground. -thanks
how much did this cost to build?
Thank you .very help ful.first time start out.

correction: rabbits seldom come out in daytime
About to build a hutch soon, Do you mind if I use your design?
I wondered about that. I'm in Central Arkansas :)
What are the dimensions of one hole for a rabbit?
Make a video on how to make a cage for a were-rabbit please?
dig out a walk in root cellar for your rabbits so theyll be warm in winter & cool in summer & quiet so that they can sleep days as theyre used to in the wild. theyll love you

I would of used 48" hardware cloth and ran an entire length.
if a neighbor of youres opened up a dogmeat bizniz, raising dogs for meat, what would you do
Probably call the city since rabbits are classified as LIVESTOCK and not pets, dumbass.
Probably trade him for meat.
Blanco how does god classify rabbits
very highly id assume since he made them so deliteful to humans & youre doing your damndest to wreck the work of god you pagan
Pagan?!?!? Wrong, I'm an Atheist. There's no god. Besides, if your god didn't want us to eat animals, she shouldn't have made them so darn tasty.
What a piece of crap dude get over yourself
Hmmmm I wonder if I could do this with PVC to make it more weather proof
People have pet rabbits some people eat them, so why is it wrong to eat cat
thats going to change as rabbits ascend the pet ladder
they bumpt the weasels out of 3rd rank
but the old sclerotic senile gov may have to fall first
i was told to never use treat lumber for hutches due to the chemicals in the treated lumber
blaa blaa blaa
you don't know what im talking abt
gen 1 gives the plan for the sinless society
