Hello my loves! As you all know I recently moved and began my series on starting over. It's been full of challenges, and one of them was finding a new home in Paris. I am freelance and a student so I don't have what is considered a "solid application" by landlords, so alternative methods were the way. I take you through my apartment search from creating my budget and scripting out my dream home, to getting rejected, visiting apartments and finally moving in to my little home sweet home. I also talk about what you can expect to pay for rent for a place in Paris and some tips I have learned through this process. A little creativity combined with a lot of faith helped me to realize that we have more power than we think in any situation--just by our thoughts.

Shayna, you're one of those people on the internet for whom i'm happy and excited everytime i see you posted something new. I KNOW, as i click on one of ur videos, that it will calm my soul, make me smile and think back throughout my day. I moved to Paris one week ago and as i wandered along the crooked streets, secret places, bridges along the Seine, i surprised myself daydreaming about drinking coffee on a bench with u, speaking about art, love, future, manifestation etc. This comment is starting to seem really creepy i guess that's just me feeling love towards someone i don't really know ! i’m actually shocked your apt is 600 euro i would have thought everything in paris would be like 2000+!!!
If you're gonna live by yourself in either a studio or a one bedroom, rent shouldn't be above 1200€. It obviously depends on which arrondissement (neighborhood). I had a 23m2 with one bedroom right by the Opéra for 840€ and a 32m2 with one bedroom near Bastille for the same price. Paris is actually pretty affordable compared to other capitals :)
@@margomartin1670 yeah the prices can be very disparate but I wouldn't say it's affordable. I got a 33m2 for 750euros in the 12ème, i think it depends on the arrondissement and it's also a matter of chance id say !

Yes but please keep in mind that median income in France is 21k euros per year (1750€ per month) so 600€ for a flat can be expensive for some ppl

No joke...I did the same thing!! Apparently it's REALLY difficult to find an apt/colocation in Bordeaux at this time. So I said every day "I'm so grateful for my amazing roomshare and I love my new place and my roommate!!" and BOOM! I found a girl that's a surfer(like me) seems super cool, and the place seems REALLY cool! I move in in a few days. Manifestation works, man.

I also found my little garden cottage in Johannesburg by responding immediately and getting an immediate response. I have a pool of water right on front of my door, and I love watching the garden birds and feeding them. Landlord also helps me, even with relationship problems, lol. Can’t wait to start my apartment hunt in Paris in fall. I am planning to do my winter semester next this year in Paris as an international student. I have not been sure whether I really wanted this for the last few weeks but the more I think of Paris the more I come to realise that this is one thing I truely want to do.

I'm posting this comment to put it out there! But Im trying to get out of the states and into belgium and my biggest obstacle is trying to get a work permit in order to stay in the first place and it makes me really anxious to think about but Im just so excited and have no intention of quitting the process. My ideal life is out there and Im going to try my hardest to pursue it. I'm trying to learn french and dutch the best that i can, but i'm looking forward to my new life that is in the new future! where i'll finally have the place of my own and friends that i love and be able to live my life. this video just helped encourage me even more and did in fact make me hopeful. there's a lot to get done but it'll get done! please wish me luck you guys lol im scared but excited but scared but happy

Oh my, I feel that pain with the co-signer, in the UK you require a guarantor that is from the UK and also a home-owner, which for me as a German expat was impossible, so I always had to pay 6 months in advance... anyways! I love how your channel is 50% The Artist's Way and 50% The Secret haha

Way to go girl! I’m sure your tips and pointers will help a heap of Americans avoid the pitfalls of finding a decent flat in Paris (or any other city in France)!
And you are SO right about about people in the arts tending to favor artists they can relate to as tennants. It’s not so much about the what it is you do, but the feeling of having values in common and the idea that a space will be valued similarly so you know it will be taken care of, because simply having a great CV or checking all the boxes does not nessecarily make you a trustworthy person (it may in fact just mean you’re spoilt or less caring about someone elses flat and inventory).

I love watching your journey. You are so positive and yet brave in showing every side of yourself. I'm dealing with wanting to get out of a long relationship with my husband. We have a child and everything seems so impossible. I keep putting my thoughts/wants out there. I'll get there but it seems way off in the future.
Keep working on it. Make plans, do some research. It will take time but it will happen.
