Storm shadow that attitude has allowed him to win 17 grand slams and he is still play competitive tennis at 31. He might have lost but he will always be a winner in my eyes

man ur comments make me laugh u say RF hardly had competition from 03-06 what about guys like Hewitt, safin, kuerten, moya, Roddick, Ferrero, Agassi and from 05 RG nadal was ranked 2nd so he was his competitor since 05 all these players have been ranked no 1 and been slam winners. its not upto players what era he plays in you have to play best to win it winning slams is not easy in any era you have to win 7 matches and upsets can happen anytime but it didn't with RF all cedit to RF for that.
Even if Rafa wins more majors the Fed which is very doubtful now I think most people would recognice he would do it by winning like 5 Moe French opens with 1 other major thrown in there. Which shows that he is not as complete of player as Federer since Federer is the best on grass of all time, the best on hardcourts of all time and with 5 French open title appearances top 3 all time on clay shows how complete a player he is.
The best on hard is Djokovic actually.
what era did smapras had becker,lendl,edberg were all done when Sampras atarted winning wimby since 1993 Agassi was no good till 99 from that time he won 5 slams till 03 Sampras had courier a 4 time slam champion n Agassi a 3 time slam champion RF is facing nadal,djoko,murray,delpo,roddick, safin, Hewitt, Agassi, Ferrero all slam winners and former no 1 except murray n delpo.

look il tell u 1 more thing I m an RF fan but Sampras is my 2nd fav player I saw him growing up and when Sampras was defeated by RF in 2001 I was devastated. Sampras deserved his 14 slams and I never thought about his era was weak or not tough as it was in mid 80's he was the best in the competition he had u cant choose what era u want to be in or part of u play and win with what competiton u have he was a gentleman and remains we all love Sampras one of the all time greats.

dude u kidding me djoko n murray are not from RF's era they r between RF and next generation of players murray n djoko were in top 20 in 2006 Nadal turned pro in 2001 3 years later than RF RF and nadal are from same era whereas djoko,murray,delpo came in the next generation of players. since 04 RF and nadal r facing same competition on tour
dont judge players with their h2h against certain players ferrer is 14-0 against RF but he is much much better player than that. Roddick, safin, Hewitt, murray all reached multiple slam finals but were stopped by RF its credit to Federer dont disrescpect them by saying they were weak if RF was not there all of them would have atleat 4 to 5 slams each.sampras's era was the weakest only courier was his competitor since 95 Agassi was gone and came back in 99 by that time Sampras was declining
10-20 is the head to head record in favour of Rafa with half of the matches on clay, big advantage for Rafa since Federer nor no one in the history of the tennis is even close to how good Rafa is on clay. Federer leads the on the other surfaces. My point is that their has been huge advantage for Nadal in the whole season considering that there are 3 atp 1000 on clay and 0 on grass so there has been way less opportunity for Fed to make up wins on his best surface so trying to say Federer

im not interested in winning an argument with u who cares about u believe what u want I don't care about that at all... there is just gap of 3 years between them and gap of 3 years is not considered as next generation or era RF came in scene in 2001 with defeating Sampras 3 years later nadal came in scene with defeating Federer in 2004 Miami.
RF won his 1st slam in 2003 nadal in 05 just 2 years later it was not like 5 years later like djoko did in 2008 that's why even I said djoko was in between of RF and next generation of players same with murray n delpo.. Most people say n believe RF and Rafa r from same era and generation and its a fact they are. there are facts and number's to prove it. hv fun

A few decades later, Roger Federer may or may not be the greatest tennis player ever , but one thing is for sure,roger federer will be forever synonymous with wimbledon , just like Nadal will be with the red clay of roland garros , we fans are truly lucky to live in this golden era of men's tennis
He defeated every1 so naturally that no1 except him got the chance to become legend in his era....and mr genius onething even sampras has considerered him to be the gr8est player of all time....and geniuses r not born everyday to beat his record
i have always thought that rogers best chance for another slam is at the us open, hes been very unlucky the last couple of years even though last year was poor play. how much i want to see him win wimbledon, im afraid ita going to be all nadal again
Federer has the toughest draw this year! Djokovic has the easiest path to the Final! Murray, Nadal & Roger in the same half of the draw?!! that's insane! Djokovic barely has any competition!
1st R vs Mayer, last year they played in QF, 4th r vs Hass, QF Berdih... He may got easier opponent in semi but his way to the semis is NOT easy. Murray has easiest draw.
I think he means 2011 when he defeated Djokovic at RG (yeah, Nadal would have still defeated Novak in the final)... that was the only GS Novak did not win in 2011...

Its because the draw is based off of the players results from the previous year, and since federer won last year, he will have a hard draw, and he does.

He did get it mixed up though as he said a few weeks later he beat Novak to get to world #1.

I just saw a video of Fed win his first Wimbledon. The emotion and the heart I saw Roger had in the match was something I have never seen in a tennis player. He has lost that now, he lost to a nobody and it doesn't bother him at all. What happened to you Rog. Get back that winning spirit and become the player you once were. Then you will never lose Wimbledon
Actually the one who's been arrogant during post-game interviews was definitely Stakhovsky. If you'd know more about tennis you'd actually know he hates Federer. Federer was mad yeah. @ThatsSolnane Those opponents he faced during his first 7 slams won 6 matches just like him to get to the final. Why should he not get full credit? Why should they not get credit for being the great runner-ups they were?

Regardless of player pref etc but for the sake of good sportsmanship Federer even back in 2008 - 2009 when he was at peak levels of his pro career all around almost anyone would have to admit that he's one of the best tennis players to grace the court.
Nowadays Novak is dominating with younger players coming up in the ranks.

I think he meant how he beat Djokovic at the french in '11. Had Djokovic won the french and still went onto win Wimb and the US he would have a CYGS.
