  • Welcome to the Library of Parthos!
If you're new here, welcome to the library! I'm so glad you found my channel. If you're a returning viewer, thank you so much for nerding out with me!
In this video, I will be answering the question, “Did I Miss Out?”
If you watched my Reading Habits video, I talked about my misunderstanding as a teenager that there were no more “good” fantasy books, and that I had read everything worth reading. As an adult, I learned that I was incredibly wrong, and that there were a lot of great fantasy books!
I finally decided to pick up “The Alchemyst” by Michael Scott (lol), and I really enjoyed it! I love that there are so many mythological characters included. I think pre-teen/ teenage Sara would have LOVED this book, and I think I will read the rest of the series.
    Did I Miss Out? Yes!

I read the first one in middle school and luckily my high-school had the whole set.
I can't even express how much this series shaped me and my love of fiction. I named my favorite swords(cool sticks) Clarent and Excalibur. I spent hours thinking about my aura color and smell(ghost white and cinnamon). This was my Harry Potter.
I recently got them all on audio book and loved reentering that world.

I am about halfway through the second book and am loving it! I can't wait to finish the series. I love books that have such an impact! And those are excellent names for cool sticks!

@@libraryofparthos7411 I'm super glad you're loving the second one. Thank you for complementing the sticks. Sword fighting with my siblings and role-playing with them are my favorite memories of being a kid.

@@roydanielnox Absolutely! I have similar memories with my cousins. We even used hockey sticks as wizard staffs!

I've read the series like 1w times back to back... have been wanting to write my own continuation years later. As well as a ttrpg based on the magic system. It's sooooooo good

For the people reading this comment: John Dee was rotten eggs/sulfur smell, Nicholas Flamel's aura scent is mint. Hekate is pronounced with a 'tea' at the end, and Scathach is pronounced with a hard G at the end as far as I remember :)

Dan'u'talas, aka atlantis was the golden city rules by the gods, humans were there slaves and food most the time, but ahbraham the mage was a man they all reaspected and feared, he wrote the codex that Nicholas uses. All the old gods want the power of the codex.

All of the characters are pretty thoroughly introduced in the book as far as the plot of this story goes. Some of their history is explained, but I did have to look some of them up just for added context.

Does this have anything to do with the Harry Potter universe?

Not part of the Harry Potter universe, but lots of mythological references!

Considering Nicholas was a real person, his name is used in many stories that tie to alchemy. He has 3 real life grave sites that are all empty, man was know in this world as a genuine alchemist.
