  • Labor Day ride - perfect weather on the slopes of Mount Rainier with the fun group, 50/50. We shuttled to the Suntop Lookout, about 5.2K elevation, descended about 500 feet on a steep rocky trail that basically burned off our disc brakes, climbed back up about the same height with no warm ups (hence the heavy breathing and high heart rate walk on this video) and then did about an 8-9 mile descent down to the Ranger Creek Airport. It was a loooong but fun descent with very little tech, mostly hero dirt, slaloming, with some exposed sections, cruising from 12 to 20 mph. The second half of the ride was on more XC oriented trails from the Ranger Creek Trail connecting to the Skookum flats trail along the White river northbound. Despite it generally being downhill (you start at a higher elevation than the end), it was still a lot of pedaling with some steep punches and a few tech bits - but mostly blue XC terrain with a nice view of the river. Very relaxing ride.
The purpose of the video is simply to document and have something to reminisce about in the future...
