Saw the GREAT ones: Led Zeppelin, The Who, Santana, CSNY, ELP, James Gang, The Allman Brothers Band,--this is the BEST jam I've ever heard...rock on brothers!!
Best version I've ever heard of this song. Epic is the word. Neil brings so much feeling and evocation to this song. As usual sparse on words and long winding solos. Neil is rocking and all is good!
Late to the conversation, but Young does an even better version with Booker T and the MG's (famous for "Green Onions", 60"s, maybe?) with his ex wife and sister on vocals. Only the 10.54 minute version, though. That performance immediately elevated Young into the top 20 guitarist conversation. The drummer is nuts.
Uniqueness has its reward and no one in todays music scene is more unique than Neil Young. He hasn't changed since his roots back in Buffalo Springfield. This guy is unchanged in over 50 years, that to me is beyond the test of time and is just as hard at it now as he's ever been. The guy is 70 and going strong, keep on rockin Neil with you around its gonna be a free world.
The song is The combination of a balm mixed with fire Neil Young was in such a zone that he was on a Magic carpet as he was playing that absolute Incredible riff
There is no way to give more likes to this song! Wow, what a fusion between the new generations and those of before ... a long life to rock music! One of Bob Dylan's artworks
Neil is one of the few who could do one of the most important rock songs ever, justice. Im in total awe of both Neil and Pearl Jam after watching this.
I was at this show and was woefully unprepared for a Neil Young + Pearl Jam 45 minute encore. Fuuuuuck. At the Sports Arena in Toledo OH of all places. Maybe a capacity of 3-4,000? Brilliant show, amazing surprise.
I saw Neil do this as an encore in '94, I believe. Incredible, so much energy coming out of the performance it could have powered a city. Neil was a force of nature that day.
I saw Neil Young & "Friends" as it was advertised, in Denmark in 1995. It was the Mirrorball Tour. There was a swedish punk band and RadioHead beforehand. There was no mosh. I had to grab a moment so I left the front hoping I would get back there. I cruised straight back to the front amongst all these hot Danish dudes. There were along so chilled enjoying the sunshine. I stood about 5 meters from the stage and watched exactly this. I jumped under the mediocre semi circle barrcade bars at the front, and was at the stage edge. The security didn't mind at. I was the only one. As Neil ripped thru another solo on "Throw Your Hatred Down" Stone, Mike and Jeff all looked at one another with a smile and look of total amazement as Neil tore it apart. Brendan O'Brien was along on piano for some of the songs too. It was magical. My ears were ringing for days. I was so lucky to have fluked that show. ( I was in Denmark down the road for sport ) I will never forget it. Neil Young in his absoloute prime with Pearl Jam ( - minus Ed of course ) I can say I saw it for real.
great version. Love Neil Young I used to see him play live every Friday night at the Rock Pile in Toronto in the late 60's as the house band. Loved him since Buffalo Springfield
Wow! Seldom does one see a group of musicians feed off another with such a positive result. 8:04 mins of absolute joy for me as a listner. Thanks for posting Felix.
Getting two vocalist singing i unison in a "jam session" like this, is clearly not so easy. But i doesn't matter! Because this a F-ing great live jam! Look at Neil Young! Doesn't give flying F. Starting the whole thing with a double guitar solo. "F the stage time and F everything, we're gonna rock this one out boys!" What a man.
What a great tune .NY and Pearl Jam were great when they were together. Best I ever witnessed was Dublin 95 .The concert was filmed and recorded professionally so one day we might get to experience them again
This song makes me feel so good. It is a Unforgettable moment of guitar 🎸 glory. Neil Young put out a masterpiece. I wish people would not close their hearts and ears to music picassos... On top Of it all Eddie Vedder Accompanied himWithout missing a beat. Is 2 masters at work
Cool as hell post, i wasnt much of a pearl jam fan though they had a few tunes i liked but this with one of my favorite guitarists doing this song justice is killer
I say"Neil Young for President"... No matter what he does he kills it n keeps it real! 💥He stands for everything that's righteous since his beginning. Ohio, Southern man, Native Americans, the pipelines, Human rights n while others talk about it, he sings about it n keeps it in the spotlight n that my friends are how it gets fixed. "This notes for you" says it best! He's stays true to himself! What you see is what you get. 💥He's sets the stage on fire!
Thanks for sharing this great version of this Dylan tune. I've always liked Neil's versions of this song. The FarmAid version with Crazy Horse is killer also.
NY knows how to pick hard rock acts that are capable of meeting his standards and expectations. Crazy Horse, Pearl Jam and Promise of the Real are the real deal . In addition, he picks a bunch of different but equally talented band / soul mates for his folk / acoustic albums
However both Crazy Horse and Promise of the Real have honed their skills at performing in a cluster within TWO yards of him without a mishap yet. Brings out the best in Neil.....
Only Neil can make a guitar growl, howl, and scream, and all a the same time. So raw, so f*king good, so Neil.
Damn right i feel the same way about his playing.
no band falls into a groove better than Pearl Jam!!!!!
Man we need to bring these type of jams back........... The world is waiting for good music again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good music is still there. You just gotta put the effort it do dig a little deeper beyond the basic surface level mainstream to find it
Who needs coffee in the morning? Just put this on volume 75
MY GOD!!! The howl that Neil Young is able to produce with his guitar is one of the most pure and emotional sounds of all time.
For me it is a kind of holy sound... I do not have words for it...
Mini-bucker in an LP through a Fender Tweed Deluxe Amp, a fairly uncommon rig for a very uncommon artist. You can tell instantly that it's him.
❤🎉
It’s a Gibson ( Les Paul) 1953.

@Quinctili Late too, but checked it out. Liked Booker T and this is a good version.
Best version of one of the greatest songs ever written.
Neil is the best.....
@@JefferyMcCann-ou6lqyou cant forget jimi did this justice as well.
Hats off to the band and to Mr. Neil Young! Your art warms my heart and gives hope to my soul.

When it comes to on stage energy no one has more than Neil even at this age🥇
Age is nothing but a number
Live YOUNG and you'll live Forever !!

This is without any doubt my all time favourite. The song, the artists, this show. No words can describe the pureness and perfection.
You're right!
The best version of ALL Along the Watchtower,WOW SUPER BOWL
You're right man
It never gets old watching Neil rock out!

Now THAT'S ROCK 'n ROLL!!! Played with feeling and intensity, so little of that in most of today's crap
Real Rock 'n' Roll feelings.
I saw Neil do this as an encore in '94, I believe. Incredible, so much energy coming out of the performance it could have powered a city. Neil was a force of nature that day.
Oh , my gosh , you must be kidding ,and I've been a Neil Young fan all my life !!

KISSES
Love Neil, but I would not want to stand within 10 yards of that monster while he's rocking, for safety reasons, purely.
However both Crazy Horse and Promise of the Real have honed their skills at performing in a cluster within TWO yards of him without a mishap yet. Brings out the best in Neil.....
Same as with Pete Townshend, lmao
amaaazing! great -
When Eddie can only humbly bow his head to the master...✌️
"All Along the Watchtower" is a song written and recorded by the American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan
correct! Jimi Hendrix had a hit with this song.
I doubt that Dylan wrote this song and others published in his name..mostly all written were by Leonhard Cohen!!
what are you on about? The songs on the 1967 album John Wesley Harding
who is 'Leonhard'
Both Bob and Jimi have done GREAT covers of Neil's song....
:)
Incredible... Simple as that
never sing with NEIL unless it had been rehearsed,...Neil like HENDRICKS are kings
Jimi Hendrix
Intensidade e generalidade. 🤘
give them theirs! Neil 🙏
O Pai da matéria..🎶🤘🎶
A god among men.
Any Musician, who sings it, it is consecrated to be the best!
Neil Young simplesmente engole o Pearl Jam! O cara é uma lenda viva!
I LOVE ROCK AND ROLL 🤘🤘🤘
