Depends on the locality / state /Province. In some places if you care for X number of kids or less, then you don't need licensing. In other places you pay to be 'inspected' when you first open up, which can be a couple hundred. Sometimes they require a certification from say the Red Cross that you know CPR. A major thing these folks forget to do -- buy insurance. Most homeowners insurance won't cover an at-home day care for negligence or damages. There are always start up costs with any business, but the bar is set relatively low, especially since there is such a great demand for child care in certain areas. Hard to pass alot of regulations for at-home child care when women have been taking care of 4-8 children for the last 5,000 years of civilization.
My wedding: sample dress 75% discount; veil:made by my mom; reception hall: free use of the bank's basement where my parents had their accounts; flowers, cake and buffet caterer: ladies who worked from home. All of were found via word of mouth. Music: a cousin was in a rock band. They actually learned a waltz. Photos: only professional hired. Paid for time only at first. Order the photos over a year later, when we could afford them.
Mario from the old Persichinis in Newmarket the gym has since closed down. He is super knowledgeable and does strong man type competing he doesn't need to be super skinny he is ridiculously strong
Why doesn't someone work 3rd shift to avoid child care costs. That's what I do. Yeah it sucks but you gotta do what you gotta do. Sometimes you don't get sleep but bills get paid and the kids get stuff. It won't last forever.
I don't know where Gail gets her numbers from. $3600/year invested at 5% for 35 years is nowhere near $600,000. You'd need an average annual return of around 7.5% to grow $3600/year to $600K.
So, I plugged the numbers into a compound interest calculator. $3600/year (at $300/mo) invested at 5% for 35 years, compounded quarterly, will net a bit over $361,000, but compounded annually it's a bit over $350k. My guess is she also added in the value of the house, which was at the time $250,000 - when put together with the $350k, you get about $600,000, and if they hung on through the bubbles, that house is probably worth a heck of a lot more now.
Many years ago when my mom delivered my brother and he died a few hours later (he was a premie) the doctor told my dad she should get pregnant right away (postpartum depression was treated this way). I was born 11 months after him. I was tiny and wasn't responding the way the doctors wanted. They considered me a failure to thrive and actually sent me home to die. The doctor thought it would be best for my mom if I died at home. My parents didn't give up on me. Here I am soon to be 55 years old.
Sometimes, it’s eye-opening 😮😮to watch people on money-focused shows who struggle with basic financial skills, often ending up with significant debt. These shows can really highlight how poor financial habits and a lack of responsibility can impact both personal / physical health and attitudes. Hopefully, they’ll realize the importance of making better choices, practicing self-discipline, and taking steps to improve their well-being and financial outlook. It’s a reminder for everyone about the value of financial literacy, resilience, and accountability.
All praise for early childhood educators, but the pay is so low it doesn't let you provide for your own kids. Why, oh why, do women make these stupid career choices?
@@Ravenousyouth Agree with you there. Women's work is severely underappreciated and underpaid when it fulfills the biggest needs in society: teaching and safeguarding children (teachers/social workers) as well as improving/maintaining physical and mental health (nurses/counselors/related service providers). These professions are also notorious for guilt tripping workers (predominantly women) into working more for no additional compensation because it's for the kids/sick/etc. No wonder burnout is so rampant in those fields and there are so many shortages. Emotional labor is still labor and is the most beneficial to society's wellbeing and should be treated as such.
If the mother gave them $250K for a house she should have chipped in the 14K for the wedding and then the couple would not be paying 28% interest. However, these two need to get on track with following a budget.

They are having 2 under 1? Ouch!
not anymore, which is probably a good thing
Hardly, even IF she hasn't had a miscarriage, that baby is 9 months. I am math INPAIRED but 9 month kid+ 9 month pregnancy = EIGHTEEN months
He should have got her mother off the mortgage
Stop smoking, get rid of the gym membership and cable now! Get a part time job to pay down your debt.
Dan needs to stop smoking.
Baby making is a very costly hobby- helloooo
Can is not serious! His smirk says it all!! He wants to play the big shot😭😭😭😭
So you’re allowed to just open up a daycare in your house with no licensing or childcare credentials?
Yup
The wife is an ECE which gives her credentials
You still need to pay taxes on it so you're not completely "off the radar"
@@wowwee0 What’s an ECE?
He smokes and then goes to gym ...quit smoking
My wedding: sample dress 75% discount; veil:made by my mom; reception hall: free use of the bank's basement where my parents had their accounts; flowers, cake and buffet caterer: ladies who worked from home. All of were found via word of mouth. Music: a cousin was in a rock band. They actually learned a waltz. Photos: only professional hired. Paid for time only at first. Order the photos over a year later, when we could afford them.
Personal trainer has a nice build.
Seriously? The personal trainer needs to drop 30 pounds.
@@vinnyhighstrung1338 , he doesn't need to be anorexic to be a trainer. He's fine.
@@ensignmjs7058 Sure if you want weight loss and fitness advice from someone that looks like that then knock yourself out.
Mario from the old Persichinis in Newmarket the gym has since closed down. He is super knowledgeable and does strong man type competing he doesn't need to be super skinny he is ridiculously strong
Money, money, money, money, money, money, money….
Why doesn't someone work 3rd shift to avoid child care costs. That's what I do. Yeah it sucks but you gotta do what you gotta do. Sometimes you don't get sleep but bills get paid and the kids get stuff. It won't last forever.
He looks like James Corden
Wedding 1k, ring 1k still married year 7, 4 houses later. No help from family.
Gym membership lol, dude needs go run outside for free
How old is this show? TV looks old.
Early 2000’s, pre 2008 crash
Can anyone in Canada set up daycare? Without any qualification and home checks?
I don't know where Gail gets her numbers from. $3600/year invested at 5% for 35 years is nowhere near $600,000. You'd need an average annual return of around 7.5% to grow $3600/year to $600K.
Maybe she’s accounting for raises and that they’ll continue to invest a similar percentage.
I don’t understand where she gets a lot of her numbers.
She usually says to reinvest the tax break too
So, I plugged the numbers into a compound interest calculator.
Compound interest
I feel for Alina. Even though their finances are mess, stresses may have contributed to misscariage. To go on with TV show is cruel request.
She had a miscarriage and they made her go to the gym?! 😮
Here I am soon to be 55 years old.
it would be fine if your bodys already used to the excersise before, the doctor i saw for my kids said to keep going within reason
😮😢
These two are extremely annoying.

The host dialog is the same of the same, she should fing a diferent lines..!
Why, oh why, do women make these stupid career choices?
more like why is this work soo undervalued? what could be more important than keeping kids safe
She shouldn't be working out at a gym this close to having a miscarriage. That's just common sense.
Nonesense
@@Liitebulb I assume you must have experienced this personally.
She came off the miscarriage and wanted to rebuild herself.
If the mother gave them $250K for a house she should have chipped in the 14K for the wedding and then the couple would not be paying 28% interest. However, these two need to get on track with following a budget.
lisajanefox sooo the mom gave them 250,000 and they should also get another 14000 from her for the wedding?
A parent is NOT obligated to pay for their adult children. A parent IS obligated to teach their children at a young age to respect money. This generous mother should not have to pay for the wedding.
She gave them $250k and that's not enough for you??
"Should?!" She wasn't obligated to give them anything.
They could i have paid for a cheaper house and paid off the wedding...quarter million gift ...mind blowing
$40k loan for a wedding?!
14, not 40
the " missed-carriage " was a good thing. they definitely don't need another child acting like that.
Miscarriage.
😮
You personify the schadenfreude evil of the internet. Callous enjoyment of another person's tragedy.
Classy commnent.. and especially disgusting coming from a woman.
Would you cheer for their born baby to die too so they could save money?
