      The editing suits some recipes. I always liked your longer videos because we see the whole process of cooking and it makes it easier to follow! I am a beginner cook so it helps a lot.
      Are you referring to short style of editing like in this video? I see a lot of tiktok styles recipe like that - they are not fun to watch at least for me.

    I have a similar recipe with salmon and mushrooms on top of the rice. All you do is add some soy sauce, mirin and sake to the water used for cooking the rice and once it's cooked you mix it up a little, put some nori on top and it's done. One of the first recipes I ever tried from youtube and I'm still using it. Interestingly, when I bought my rice cooker the lady at the asian food store did not know about this type of recipe, apparantly not everyone uses them.

    • @BiancaSaphira

      Yeah this type of content is currently popular on TikTok or Instagram in Japan.

    • @MisterNightfish
      @MisterNightfish 6 місяців тому +1

      @@BiancaSaphira Well basically there is not much more to the recipe i than i alreadysaid: you just put the rice in the ricecooker as you usually would, add a bit of sake, mirin and soy sauce to the water (dont turn it on yet!). Then just chop up some mushrooms (i use champignons because i cant get japanese mushrooms here) put those on top of the rice then some salmon (no skin) on top of that and just cook the rice as normal. it all cooks together and you just mix it up a bit once the ricecooker says the rice is ready. works every time!

    • @MisterNightfish
      @MisterNightfish 6 місяців тому +2

      @@CHEFSLABO Yea, the recipe was from a japanese youtuber, that makes sense. It was almost 10 years ago so I am surprised this isn't more widely known / used because the results are really good and it takes very little time. It's a good little recipe to have when you don't want to spend a lot of time.

      Rice cooker dishes are very popular in China. There's also many native dishes that involve the use of cooking the veges and meat with rice in China, the Middle East and South Asia in dishes like pilaf, biryani and pulao. These were traditionally done without rice cookers, in Uzbekistan they cook a dish called plov in giant pans the size of bath tubs that are built onto the floor. @@CHEFSLABO

    I'll be honest. I don't really get the "Apple in curry" trick. I've always found that extra bit of sweetness to be more cloying than pleasant.

    Could probably cut the time down to 15 minutes if you use an Instant Pot instead. Sadly I don't have a rice cooker anymore. Swapped to multiple Instant Pots. Got a small one I use to make rice and a big one for anything else.

    A more sensible way to do it in my opinion is to cook as you go. Cut the meat and start browning it. Meanwhile prep the veggies, when they are done remove the meat and put the veggies in the pot. Them rep the rice and put it in the rice cooker. At this point you can put the water in the pot with thr meat to cook until tender. Put a timer and do all the cleaning and washing. When meat and veggies are cooked add the curry base and whisk 5 more minutes. At this point put the table on and few minutes later the rice is ready.
    Thats the efficient cook way.

    細かくしないで普通にブロックのまま投入して作った事ありますが、見事に溶け残って悲惨な事になりました(;´Д`)

      料理ってちょっとした事が結構影響したりしますよね😅
      居酒屋でお通しに出てきた小鉢にちょっと柚子の皮が削ってふりかけてあるだけでグッと印象が変わったりするのと一緒で、ほんのちょっとの手間が大切なんですよね。料理は愛情とはよく言ったものです😌

    Whats the point of using rice-cooker instead of just making same thing in the pot? While making rice in rice cooker...that you had on video.

      It's convenient to make everything in the rice cooker and in contrast to the pot, it doesn't get burnt on the bottom and since the rice cooker detects when the rice is done, it switches to "warm" mode automatically. I'm using a very similar recipe sometimes and it works really well. I do prefer to make my japanese curry in a pot using a recipe from Chef's Labo.

      rice cooker do the cooking in low heat for longer time, but you dont need to tend to it like cooking on the stove with higher flame. while on video its only the curry, its not erasing the option if you want to put rice on the bottom, ingredients on top
