Would it be advisable for a UiUx designer to group their portfolio into two aspect, jobs focused on UI and Jobs focused on ux, would that make sense or isn't quite much of a good practice?

Would be great if you guys made a video on how to do relevant mock projects. Considering it’s “not real”, how do you get/do user testing etc. How to do unprompted redesign for established business’ without being pretentious (seeing as you have no data to prove it needs a redesign).
Picking projects / what to actually put in your portfolio is the hardest part!

@@jenniferperez5165 I was able to land a position with mock projects btw!! I picked topics I was really familiar with or apps that needed a serious upgrade. I also have 10 years of previous design experience though. If you’re serious then just keep pushing, but if youre only doing this because of the “make 100k” videos, you may not get very far - especially with all the tech layoffs. The market is swamped now and most places will want experience. 💫

I would conclude that many profiles, probably not just these three, focus too much on the UI and could use more User Research details. Thanks for a look into a hiring manager's brain.

I’ve always been interested in UX and UI work. I just started the Google UX Designer Certification but while watching this I’ve decided to make a plan, or goal rather, to have at least 3-4 projects per job role. So in total have 9 to 12 projects as a whole. So if I’m applying for a more UX designer role I will have 3-4 projects ready to showcase.

I often hear the advise that portfolios and resumes need to be tailored to the company or person receiving them. While I totally understand this advice and think it's valuable I do struggle to see how I would be able to tailor my online portfolio? If I'm applying for many (potentially different) jobs I'm not able to to tailor my portfolio as if I keep changing my website I can't be sure that the person I've tailored it to is viewing the correct version before I change it and tailor it to another. Super keen to hear how it would be possible to tailor an online portfolio? Thanks and love the video!

I'm making right now my first UI/UX portfolio (I have 15 years of experience as a graphic and visual designer trying to change to UX/UI world :)). I know I'm going dedicate hours to this and I have a question…
¿How can I change or adapt the words or the examples in my portfolio for each job application? May be it’s a silly question but I’m really not sure how could I do this.
I’ve seen that you have made three big portfolios’s block: UX version / UI version and UX/UI version… ¿Do you suggest to do three separate websites for this three versions?
Thank you very very much for all the outreach work you are doing!!!!!

Would you kindly post a video about how much of a Figma community duplicate file we should change in order to make it look original i.e. "ours" rather than "a copy paste" (definitely considering the license and say it says you can change it completely and publish freely). You may mention "start with typography, colors, etc." What would be your tips and tricks in working with Figma community files. Thanks in advance.

Hi guys! So I’m new in UX design and I’m looking to create a portfolio for myself, but then I’m 5 minutes into this video and what I’ve still not understood at this point in UX design is displaying works in your portfolio when you’re still trying to land your first job/ design role. This brings me to the question; are these projects (in the portfolio of an unemployed newbie) made up? I get that it’s a good way to display your UX skills and all of that but I really just need to know because I’m trying to land my first job as well and I’m wondering what’s supposed to be in my portfolio when I literally have no work experience except stuff that I’ve personally worked on on my own.

okay, this is getting out of hand. When I starder learning they said I need 3 projects, later on I've heard I need 6 projects focused mostly on UI, not only UX, bc this is what a begginer UX usually does. I've heard that I need my portoflio to be like a brand and also interactive to help me stand out. And now I am hearing I need 3 portfolios... THIS IS RIDDICULOUS, I just want to find my first job!!! I would apply to ANY kind of junior UX job!!! You know why? Bc noone is recruiting. I won't be tailoring my portoflio for specific role, I want it to be versatile

    Hi Dee,
    I have a few questions.
I was thinking of using some of my loves and passions in my job search. I’ve studied film at Ryerson university in Toronto, I’ve worked in and around the film business for most of my adult life, I’ve been a screenwriter and I’m a die hard cinephile. I feel that my understanding of film and TV along with my practical experience and education would be a great asset in my job hunt if I apply to film and TV productions companies. What do you think?
Also I was contemplating creating a dual level portfolio. By this I mean that I would provide a certain level of information on myself and my projects, but I would also offer a way for the hiring manager to find more detailed information through a link. Thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Brian

I ask this because I'm good prototyping and finding solutions in general but I'm not interested in doing research. I'm interested in knowing the results/pain points of the research team, then finding solutions and prototyping.

Any company that purely wants a "UI Designer" is either highly mature and sophisticated...or doesn't understand design in the context of software, digital applications.

Honestly this video was a bit confusing seems kinda silly to limit ones portfolio.

You say that need changes your portfolio, depending, on where you apply. But normally you apply to at least many places short time (it can take more than one month to have some answers) So, is it taht need to be every jobe, different portfolio? Its sounds too much. Give me just some tips on how to handle, when you really need look job, beginner (or semi beginner), and typically are they soo different job descriptions. You can not wait when every place answers you, you need to have at least 3-4 or even more options.

You can use any templates from stores Like Wix and squarespace or if you can code it yourself you can also create your own template from these sites but make sure to use same theme on each page

Especially for second project, I went over to his website. My first impression here is it is too long. There's user interview but I didn't see a connection between his prototype and the user interview. Usually a junior / middle level designer is required to use existing design systems. Focus on testing on the preference on Font, spacing, typography wouldn't be that necessary unless the goal is to make it a more visual appealing. For project 2, they do have a diagram but it's not very helpful cause as a person who isn't familiar with the app I wouldn't be able to grasp what this design is about and what the problem they want to solve. In the end, my take-away is the designer would love to improve the user experience visually by using purple-based illustration.

How do we know this field is not going to become like IT support where the work will be exported to people in poorer countries like India or Philippines and they will do the work for fraction of cost?
