As I have said before most people have no clue as to how much work construction projects are and Video recording makes it even more challenging. I am very proud of you. Thanks for sharing
Thank you so much for setting the example for what I want to do (right down to the dome tent!), and - in doing so - teaching this eager amateur a bit more about building a cabin than many other videos and websites did. Good luck with the new school year in the US. Don't kill any kids intentionally!
Correct, anytime one does metal roofing in a building that's going to be heated or cooled, you need decking & a water barrier. Or else, you'll have moisture problems!
You are such a kind hearted, intelligent guy. Amazing video, your own background music too I bet. Glad you finally had opportunity to finish it. Always look forward to your return my friend. ❤
Good Sturdy foundation is where it all starts ! Then no turning back it coming along good :) You should of put insulation in your corners before you sheeted can't now , hopefully it don't condensate on you in winter, Going to be an awesome view " I'm just finished up with my roof , "green" 👍
Good attention to detail! I think I was so focused on getting out of the tent I didn't even think about that. Perhaps I can drill a hole in the stud and shoot some spray foam in there? Thanks for watching!
@@SRV463 Yes you know where your half way up are so i think 4holes in each corner & a little spray foam should work, I wont tell anybody if you dont lol !Happens to all of us once lol :)It caught my attention as i just made a video of that very thing, Some people forget to put the second stud in so you have something to nail inside wall too, I did on my first shed build :)
Thanks Michael! Yes, it definitely added a lot of hours to the build. It's all good though as it was a fun project, and I'm glad I could share the journey for others to enjoy.
Your content is incredibly heartwarming and meaningful, always inspiring me with your dedication and creativity. I love the positivity and humor you bring to each video. And I am floating village life
Just found your site. So far impressed. Nice images of that cell coming toward you. Clean construction . I like it. I guess I need to go back and get info on property. Why there ? Water, electric, sewage ? Thank you for a nice video. I did subscribe.
Thanks Bert! There is power at the property, but I don't get to go very often so I won't be hooking it up (yet). I'd have to do a well and septic if I wanted water/sewage. Thanks for the sub 👍
Hood day new to your channel. Great video on the start of your cabin. Well do on the framing and closing it in . I do like the drip edge. . Can't to see your next video on finishing the in side of it .
I enjoyed your build video. Why did you build it that exact size? Just wondering. Are you going to have a wood stove? I just subscribed. Thanks and I'll be watching for your next visit from Central Oklahoma
Hey James, we do have Lady Bugs here in TX, but they have a red shell with black dots. These things in the video were kind of black with a white stripe (camera wouldn't focus). They would crawl into my shirt and bite me. It felt sort of like a fire ant bite, but didn't swell up afterwards. Interestingly enough, I figured out they were attracted to white clothes. They didn't bother me unless I was wearing white. Thanks for watching!
The local supply store had to order the roofing tin, and it took about 3 weeks to get there. So I kept working while waiting for it. Thanks for watching!
The larger window is an old Atrium that is almost 30 years old, the smaller one I purchased brand new at Home Depot. The atrium works great, but the newer small one is really bad. The whole window comes out, I’m not sure what they were thinking when designing it (you can see how crooked it is in part2). I actually plan to remove it completely and install another atrium window in the future.
@@SRV463 We ended up using Plygem windows from Home Depot and obviously they're cheap windows. I noticed yours are black* on the inside...mine are black on outside but white on the inside. I should've looked harder for black on black. I used Milgard aluminum windows on my tiny home I'm still building but with the heat and cold in the high desert, probably wouldn't have been the best decision. Plus, Milgard is more expensive and I wasn't happy with the build quality.
It's great being able to build where you never get frost to heave the building around. Save a lot of digging down to below the frost line. Why would you use such wide floor joist support beams, only to 45 the ends, reducing it's width. May as well went with a smaller beam and saved some money
Are those structural strength screws you are using ..if not they will not have the proper shear strength for that structure...That's why nails are suppose to be used...!
My guess is those thin concrete pavers you stacked as a foundation or whatever they are will crack and eventually erode away as the ground and cabin settles. There's a big difference in strength between a piece of let's say 8" solid block concrete versus stacking 4 pieces of 2" thick concrete to make 8". Best of luck to you , hope you don't have problems
In most soil situations you’d be correct with your concern. But looking at their soil it’s rock based. That ground is not going to settle or shift like regular ground would
@davesrvchannel4717 maybe you're right, maybe not but between the weight of a cabin and it's furnishings, heavy snow and frost you get in the rockies I definitely wouldn't chance it. Heck I wouldn't even build a shed on stacked up paver blocks , but that's just me. Best to you and the uploaders
@@ricktoole9991 I took a close up pic with my phone when we went back (part2) but forgot to post it in the video. They do look similar to lady bugs but these things bite! Feels like a fire ant😳
I don’t get the design… you’re on top of a hill with a tremendous view of the Rockies, why put the door on the wall facing that view? That front wall should be huge windows with the entrance on the back wall. Just my opinion..

You're right, you don't know until you do it. Thanks again for teaching me. Love ya
Great job on cabin. What size is it?@@SRV463
Great work. Nails for studs good. Nails for flooring less so. Overlapped second top plate. Good call.
Well done sir, great job and great inspiration. Thank you.
Fun build.....congrats on the roof😊
Nice job man! I can hardly wait to see a big deck on the front!
Got that roof on just in time. It's looking great
Great job. 😊😊
Very well thought out! Your work is just wonderful. You will never forget this build.

Love watching cabin builds but the cloud time-lapse was awesome too!
Your insulation must be soaked and retaining water inside the void.
Thanks for the cool video

You are doing a awesome job ❤
Next framing project look up california corner..it allows interior sheeting to be nailed without adding nailer.
You are the first person to explain how to cut rafters that I understood.
Thanks Billie, glad the explanation helped. 👍
Good video
Nice job! You are building it the same way I was thought.

Thanks again for all the help! Looking forward to seeing you guys again. Hopefully won't be too much longer.
Since I live in Tx, i think we should be buddies, so I can camp i. Your amazing cabin, you know, for science!😂 amazing build sir, very jealous!!!

Hi Janet, that just was an economical size that worked for me. I doubt I'll be doing a wood stove, but that would be really cool! Thanks for the sub!
Looks amazing! ❤ Can’t wait to come camp out in the cabin with you 🥰
Very cood
They are called Lady bugs and are completely harmless. By the way, the freeze in the winter, then thaw, and live again, incredible huh!

What part of Texas.I from Southeast Texas North of Houston. You are doing an awesome job. I have learned a lot from you.
I was wondering why the roof went on after the wall panels. Wind concerns?

What part of Texas is this? East? (Not asking for exact location of course)
This is near central TX
Why you didn’t tape the window opening?
Not sure that footwear is OSHA approved
Those are my welding shoes too. Plenty of air holes, kinda like self made crocs 😝
You could have done a California corner L shaped studs. In corner
what your calling a cripple is a jackstud......a cripple would be the short studs over a door or window opening......
