I didn't find a proper speed run of RA2 anywhere, so I decided to make one myself. I put lots of routing and work in this, I hope you appreciate it.
Difficulty: Hard
I only counted the in-game mission completion times, because I see no sense in clicking away the cut scenes as fast as possible or including the loading times etc...
The IN-GAME mission completion times are the following:

Very nice and fast, good job nice blitz strategy. I cant believe that after 10+ years after the game release there are vids of it that have 60.000+ views in less than a year. this game is one of my favorite games ever.

Mission 7 can't be done any faster with these strats. I didn't try to play it fast except for their last wave. It doesn't matter how fast you kill the units at the north when there are still waves to come. The last wave was annihilated very quickly. Apocalypse tanks are worse than rhino tanks for the last wave (mainly because of the cost and their speed).

Last I checked Mission 7 has no enemy base...? Are you sure we're on the same page? ._.
BTW, for Mission 7, I just tried it on hard difficulty and completely walled the left side entrance all the way with many layers, extending as far from the base as possible. If done right, apparently all enemies will stop trying to enter from the left entrance and will detour to the bottom entrance instead. Could be the cheapest way to defend left flank.

JosephS1k btw, to further enhance Mission 6, you could have sent your 2 idle tesla troopers to kill the 3 cows near your base on the top of your island. You get a cash bonus for killing all 3 cows. Maybe you already know but decided to save the trouble, but I find it always better to have spare cash ;)

It's meant to be captured, but you can also destroy it to win. Naturally you wouldn't do that (Because it makes no sense, especially with the cutscene afterwards), however I found this out by accident ages ago.

Sometimes you attack with all you units and they block themselves in the pathing. I know you dont get much time by doing it, but if you select smaller groups of units you might gain some time.

Haha, yeah you're right, I tried assigning even more hotkeys, but the more I had the more I misclicked, but sometimes having more units is an advantage: for example in the second last mission, you don't want to sacrifice your dogs to the miners because they make the tanks and drones attack them instead of your own tanks.
mission 2 has a great quote. "i could destroy this navy with a rubber duck!" the mental image is hilarious.
Ha Ha love the Apocalypse tanks 57:20. They just casually drive passed as though nothings happening. I didn't know there was a couple of random enemy elite tanks in that mission. Also I find it kinda funny how it's equally valid to just blow up the white house instead of capturing it; victory either way :D

Building multiple shipyards makes units build faster, same goes for the barracks, warfactory, ect...
bbruceify it applies to all C&C games since Tib Dawn, until Generals, where you had to build units from separate barracks, factories etc. best thing ever for massive production.
bbruceify Yes. If i recall correctly it is something like a 1.3x multiplier per extra factory (in RA2 and YR), I believe its capped too. In online play it is very necessary to build multiple factories, and balance your production speed with your income :P

You play with such confidence that's almost funny to watch. No one except one who has full mastery of the game can play so... extremely.
well it's quite easily actually because these are campaigns.
you just need to know every trigger set into these missions and you can finish them fast.

At 17:31 when you are "scrolling" through the fog, try to hold down right mouse click, it'll speed up the process.

Damn respect, you really need to right a tip guide! Questions:
- How do you select all the units of one kind?
- How do you select the next target to destroy, like at 2.55

Be sure to check the controls in the RA2 menu. I think "p" is assigned to select all battle units and I don't know the default key for waypointing, as I have set them to different keys.
i cant believe it only took you 4 minutes to finish that 11th mission ... that mission caused me great angst in my formative years.
You think of many things others dont dude @@! Like how you find the path or how to use the units at a certain point...Damn great!

Thanks for sharing this video, it helped me much that I never knew there is still more way to be quickly done each mission. So nostalgic I always do each mission by defending my base first then gathering much troops to destroy foe's army and base especially in skrimish too so it always took much time.

Not many people use hotkeys familiarly nowadays. It's refreshing seeing even some qwernd usage.
This brings me back to childhood and playing this game until the wee hours of the morning. Would've loved to hear you talk through this though to hear your strategies.

You're doing stuff I haven't seen before (which is good).
Also, are the timings at the end of each mission and the rankings are the best there are? example of the corporal ranking at the first mission, could you get any better ranking than that? and were the other missions achieved with highest ranking?
none of these missions are my gold splits, however the run is pretty good, i'm not sure what the best mission times are, there's no (reliable) archive for RA2 speedruns sadly... my golds are:
1: 2:46
2: 4:19
3: 4:18
4: 7:27
5: 1:48
6: 4:42
7: 21:29 (however i didn't practise this much, because it's not very skillful and i doubt you can save much more than that with these strats)
8: 1:59
9: 1:11
10: 9:59
11: 3:59
12: 7:34 (that's a yolo time, i wouldn't go that mode on last mission, so maybe if i did a very good mission 12 i could do a close sub 8 maybe)
having said this, the run isn't perfect ofc, but overall close to my gold splits (except mission 12)
i think there are only ranking depending if you either beat or don't beat the PAR time and that's easy to do in a speedrun ofc, so i assume the ranks are the best

I can't deny that I will never enjoy taking New York like that, I would rather take it piece by piece, building by building.. However, I admit that this was impressive.

Another great run. One criticism, though. While I understand your reasoning for using a big group of tesla troops to guard the northern entrance to your base on the Ural Mountains mission (vehicles can't steamroller them), I think a more effective defense would have been to line up apocalypse tanks. It would cost less money in the long run, would be able to attack air units if necessary, and would probably be *faster* because it they could kill off allied vehicles much more quickly.
I'd love to see an allied speedrun myself!

I did Allied if you are interested and haven't seen it: Red Alert 2 (Allied) - World Record - 49:08, YR will have to wait for a while, I will most certainly try the YR Soviet campaign, not sure about the YR Allied campaign though, because it's mainly sweeping the map and not very "speedrunable".
in Mission 7: Chrono Defense, I stood faster than you, by 22 Seconds lol. you did it in 23:34 minutes while I did it in 23:12 minutes today :D Having a screen shot though unable to post here :P Someone could go faster than this atleast haha

I have been trying to beat this game for over ten years and you can do it in under two hours. my entire childhood has been nullified :(
Colton Weaver Keep in mind, he has played this game enough to memorize all the assets in all missions. So if you had plenty of time, I could say, that takes a month or two.

One question: the last mission I always made kirovs and sent them to the down left corner and then upwards to chronosphere. It is pretty quick but I dont know how quick it can be done. Have you tried that maybe?? Instead of rocketeers. I know they are expensive and slow but they are much tougher than rocketeers so i dont think you would need a lot of them.
Thanks. I did try some routing with Kirovs, but from the base you are definately slower from what I've tried, perhaps if you build your war factory near the chronosphere and then send your Kirovs from there. I'll try something. Perhaps you can get a war factory so close to the Chronosphere that you can use an iron curtain on your Kirov just after it pops out of the war factory, so it can be iron curtain'd and finish the chronosphere from there.
There are a lot of patriot missles surrounding the chronosphere, which makes it pretty hard to finish off with Kirovs.
Another maybe you can even get your seal to destroy the chronosphere somehow with an iron curtain.
Capturing a battle lab won't allow you to build spies sadly, because then the mission would be done extremely quickly.
JosephS1k Yeah i guess once you're on their island its quicker to make a bunch of rocketeers with cloning. And from your base its a pretty long way. but kirov with iron curtain i didnt even know it was possible. i know yuri can capture kirov at the exact same moment its coming out so i guess iron curtain can be activated on it too. by the way i loved the one with the weather storm when you sent a million units to the lab and in the end only one engineer survived to take the lab :D

Petar MIlic I'm no speedrunner.. well you could say this series was my first speedrunning. I was pm'd and asked once to do SDA timing if I wanted to, but I just see no other games I feel like speedrunning and only if I have a ton of free time (which I only having during my holidays) I will go and improve these speedruns. If I get ambitious I will most certainly register and participate on SDA.
As for that mission 10, it got so close because they killed one of my transporters, which only happened because I moved them up 2much, usually this shouldn't look so "optimized" ;).
JosephS1k Well last time I checked there was no speed run for RA2 on SDA so there is no official record to beat. I've only seen yours and yoshq6 here on YT. You should do this man! :D

That awkward moment when you realise that the "Supreme General" you play as in this game, is the same coward who has "already fled" at the start of Red Alert 3.
In Yuri's Revenge, thanks to the time travel used to prevent Yuri's takeover Romanov is saved and remains in power through the campaign. It's him who flees in previous to RA3 (to avoid hiring the actor again).
***** Hrm... I've never watched it right through to completion. I always had RA2 but I never had YR when I was younger... I didn't think Romanov survived because in the events of YR you only time travelled back to before he finished building the PsyDom, but I always just assumed that was after Romanov was already dead.
I did like that they got tim curry in on Ra3 though, he was great in the role of Cherdenko.
