Bowles had a lot of natural ability but that's all he had. No commitment, no work ethic, spent his retirement slagging off players who may have had less natural football skill than him, but who were far more athletic, dedicated and achieved far far more than he did in his trophy bereft and financially woeful career. A piss and sniff head in later life. Nothing to write home about.
@John Doyle, you've got a point. I'm disappointed with what he said about Trevor Brooking who was a fine player. There was no need. But, he has Alzheimer's disease now. Many old players have reached out to help him which would suggest that there is a good side to his personality.
Late reply! Bowles slated Malcolm Macdonald and said he wasn't quick...Supermac ran 100 metres in 10 seconds! Thats not quick.. thats fast especially for a footballer who was built like a middleweight boxer. Unfortunately players like Bowles, Currie, Marsh, Worthington and even Best have a sour side to them. Gerd muller once said that Best seemed Jealous of him in the US and always played bad passes to him. When fame is in sense is out. Entertaining though! Best wishes👍🏻
@John Doyle agree that Bowles was wrong to talk down other players. But apparently he was a good trainer. By the way, he did win the Super Cup with Notts Forest in 1979 - not a lot of people know that !
@@Inglese001 I Didn't mean him personally just players like them 99.9% of the time do. Not a Generalisation thing but they are naturally gifted so they are harder to coach as there aint much you can coach apart from appliance to the task at times. They are free spirits which is good but can create havoc in a team, hence Man utd late 60s early 70s, Best unbalanced the team in a way as they didn't know how to manage a player like him, they should have rebuilt the side around him or let him go to another side, I think Chelsea, Leeds and Derby were after him at some point. I spoke to Alan Hudson about it once. Again Hudson a great player. I know a few who have met George Best thoroughly nice guy they said but then saw the side to him that most dont see and was bitter about a few great players. Great players though and you wouldn't want to change them apart from them playing forever! All the best to you 👍🏻
