haha i was just gonna comment that .....mine dont do that now .....i manually close mine by hand on electronic catches i fitted lol ....pop up electrically close manually !

How do you manually close them, is there a handle..?? 🤔still have the original vacuums on mine, whole lotta fun, they are 😂 if you wanted both pods up (and not wink at people) the left one would raise quickly, but the r/h one would stay put, then suddenly and rather urgently lift, with such force it's a wonder the whole thing didn't fly off! 😅 then of course they'd take about 20mins to close properly afterwhich if the car was left for an amount if time, they'd both start creeping up again, you'll know.. 😂 ('78' eclat 521 black)
@@robotgoose225 when returning home for an evening say, i just walk to front and press down on them and they click into place ! if i remember when i'm next at car i'll do a video n post on youtube and send you the link .
Only other shows I remember these Lotus's models in are,
Return of the Saint, s1 ep9 "The Arrangement" - Carolyn Seymour's character drives one.
Minder, s1 ep6 "Aves High and Sometimes Very Low", and s2 ep3, "You Win Some, You Lose Some" in the first Anthony Valentine's character Maurice a big time gambler has a Yellow one. In the 2nd he has White one.

The eclat at 1:26 minutes seems to have "Esprit" written on the side decal just behind the front wheel-arch. Am I correct? Has anyone got better eyes than myself and correct me if I'm wrong?

Never understood why Lotus made the Elite and Eclat.They were the same car with different rear ends.
The Elite was first, there was a discussion at Lotus about practicality vs style & it turned out the Eclat body was not that dear to produce in addition.
The Ecalt became the Eclat Excel then just Excel because Lotus wanted to call the Mk.2 Eclat the Excel, but were worried the changes to Toyota parts & a new name would require going through type approval again.
Ever cautious about costs Lotus changed the name first, then the parts.
