Last Canadian soldiers return from Afghanistan

Today marked the end of Canada's part in the Afghanistan war, as the final troop deployment arrived home on Canadian soil. Military, families and dignitaries welcomed them home and presented the last Canadian flag to fly in Kabul. Afghanistan was Canada's largest military deployment since the Second World War, as well as its longest deployment ever. The conflict cost the lives of 158 Canadian soldiers, one diplomat, a journalist and two civilian contractors. The bill for the conflict is expected to exceed $22-billion, according to independent defence analysts.
So so so wonderful to see them come home to the people who love them!

I love Canada and Canadian soldiers so this is wonderful news that they are permanently (I hope) back from the Hell of Afghanistan and I wish Canada a healing period and better treatment has to come for soldiers worldwide! I have had great experiences in Canada and miss it very much.

Canadians are a true living testament and proof that two sides can live in agreement and peacefully together. It's a shame that us Americans can't seem to follow suit of the proper path.
As a US Army (ISAF) combat veteran, I can honestly say that I loved working and socializing with you Canucks. Which also interpretates, that I have nothing but the utmost respect for you people, military and civilian.

I was at Kandahar when the first Canadian female officer in history was killed in action. Canadian and US forces were ambushed and outnumbered by the enemy...She stood by on the radio calling in airstrikes by A10's until the last few minutes of the fight before she was killed. Every person on base shared in the Canadian troops sadness that day. A true hero for Canada and a terrible waste of a fantastic person.
