      I didn't have anyone tapping me out. My family's flight got delayed and they couldn't come until the next day. The worst part was thinking they were there and then the moment never came. I still didn't have a phone because as I'm sure some of you know there's two ceremonies two separate days. So I had to get with another family and borrow their family member's cell phone. The worst part was I thought I was going to be seeing my kids and then to have the hope shot down that day. But I got to see them the next day and it was all ok. 😭

      At my cousin's tapping out ceremony there was a little girl who came to tap out her uncle. She was around 7. Her family had explained ahead of time what it meant and how important it was. After a while she noticed several graduates who hadn't been tapped out by anyone and asked why. Her family then explained that they didn't have anyone to tap them out. So she ran around tapping out every last one of them.

    I remember when my son,Gabriel, graduated basic I was so proud. He actually was starting to get depressed because it took us awhile to get to him so he thought we didn't come. We live in Florida but he was in Texas(I think) for basic. He is still in the Air-force as a reserve I think he is a lvl above Airman. He is graduating university in December but has decided to stay in and possibly move up to a full time position at Lockheed here in Orlando. I know you are proud of your son too.

    I know that feeling.. April 26th was my graduation date. I can still remember being in the first element and making the left face to face the crowd and seeing my dad out in the stands smiling at me was the greatest thing ever. It’s really emotional and you get choked up in that moment till the point you are trying to hold back your tears.

    when my brother graduated marine boot camp nobody told us about the 'tap out' thing or maybe we missed it but when i ran up to my brother he of course didnt move so i was lik 'oh my god what have they done with him' it was scary but i hugged him and he began laughing 😂🤣it was a great moment

    • @AB-vj8rr
      @AB-vj8rr 5 років тому +2

      Because there's no such thing in boot camp. Marines have to much discipline to break formation without the command

      I’m not sure what kind of bullshit this tap out thing is but in Marine bootcamp, your DI is the one to release you when it’s over.

      Glad you are going. I graduated in 1976 and only the families that lived close by or in Texas went. Probably cause most dads back then were pretty hardened by the military as most dad's were veterans and didn't see any reason to make the trip. Plus I believe that most families are closer today and have been for a while.
