The level of detail and Korean traditional references in this MV is overdose. Even the ending scene's lighting is placed RED/BLUE like the Korean flag, with the white clothes. The song is LIT, MV is LIT. +) If you like to learn about the traditional aspects of KPOP plz support us on making more of the Explained series at : www.patreon.com/dkdktv
Thank you, David, this was my favorite of the Explained series! Here are more fun facts that connect this MV to Korean culture and the history of ONEUS: 1- Their fandom is named To Moon - It represents the fans as the "moon" who always orbit ONEUS, represented by "Earth" as you said yourself. It gives even more depth to the initial part "today's moon looks good" (오늘 달이 좋구나), since, besides all the meanings of the moon that you explained, it also represents their fans. 2- The real names of the members are the same names of ancient Korean kings or historical characters (like the poet 동주) so before they were named ONEUS, their CEO thought about calling the group "Kings King" (I think he said "왕 왕" but I can be mistaken - you can see Hwanwoong talking about it in the Weekly Idol episode 412 they participated along with ATEEZ). So you can say that the members dressed as kings/nobles and sitting on the throne - especially on the final scene of the MV - are like an inside joke. xD
And it's not just that either! Leedo's stage name comes from King Sejong of the Joseon dynasty, which is why he's the one who's seen sitting on the throne at the end! As for Ravn, his real name, Youngjo is practically the same as that of another Joseon dynasty king, King Yeongjo! ^^ Which can also be why he's the second one to be seen wearing the most royal-looking clothing ^^
Seriously RBW artists now and puns are just expected. Each release army’s go through the hidden meanings and us moomoos and toomoons go through their jokes and memes lol.
As a Oneus fan and KPOP fan in general,I am so grateful for your channel because you do intensive research and always put in actual examples of where the origins come from, and that's extremely hard work!
The pronunciation of "one earth" in Korean is similar to "oneus"???? Omg this is totally mind blowing. They must've put a lot of thought into this song, or even these US series
They are getting shade because of BTS' "Idol"? Come on...how about affirming them for their attention to their Korean roots?! "We are Korean". Yes. You are...and we love that (otherwise, who would really be watching?). Hwaiting!
You are right: I dont really understand. Come on, this is just so stupid! They have the same concept but at the same time the songs are really different. And to be honest I enjoy listening both Idol and Lit. I dont think Oneus copied BTS at all.
Whoever claiming that oneus stole bts idol concept must left their brain on the closet...the korean instrument aint own by bts..it their culture so any korean should be free to use as instrument whoever sample let em..why bash other group just because bts use it..oneus is korean as well.many korean artist use it not just bts..
Amazing, I'm an Indian but the way I was introduced to the Korean culture through your explanation it felt like I'm in a Korean culture museum and you're the guide. The whole thing was explained really well. I was waiting for this one.
I'd love that so much. This is the 2nd reference they make to 님과 함께, which is one of my favorite trot songs out there. Besides some idols like Daesung and Super Junior also tried their luck with Trot a couple of years ago.
Thank you for mentioning the BTS thing. I'm an ARMY and BTS will forever be my #1 group, but I was really disappointed when I saw so many people accusing ONEUS of copying "Idol." The idea of "copying" traditional elements of one's own culture is just ridiculous to me. First of all, nobody owns a country's culture. Second, a bunch of other groups did similar things in the past. And third, I find it highly admirable that so many idols incorporate traditional elements into pop music. It's a beautiful celebration of their roots, like I'll never shut up about how amazing it is and how happy it makes me, because I know how excited I get when pop singers from *MY* country include traditional elements into their music. It's just beautiful and deserves all the hype. Much love to ONEUS for doing this, I've been really excited about their music ever since debut and they have yet to disappoint me. All of their songs so far are amazing, I highly recommend listening to their mini-albums if you haven't yet!! :)
Instead of criticizing oneus for “copying” BTS’ Idol, be happy that they’re being proud of their culture. There’s no way they copied them cause the culture is known to all Koreans
+ the styles of the MVs are completely different. Idol is an overdose of colors and beats, completely owning the stereotypes people have for kpop. Lit is more "subtle" in the way it's produced.
I can't even understand and see how Oneus is copying BTS. Lol does the new fans knew that there were groups that done the same concept before BTS? 😂 The fandom is getting more and more toxic each day yikes, I hope the older ones are staying strong 😂
Honestly, from my perspective, LIT was more rich in culture than Idol was. I really love ONEUS and all their concepts and artistry, and I'm grateful that you explained all of this so well!
The word " *URSU* " is very similar to the Italian " *ORSÙ* ", which is an old way of saying "come on/come now", an exhortation or way of encouragement. Fascinating how similar two utterly different languages on opposite sides of the world can be 🤩 PS. I am totally watching this tenfold to help give you guys the same views as the original video with 100% total watch time! 😉
as a foreigner, it was really nice to see a sorta full in-depth vid on oneus lit to see all the aspects of traditional Korean culture they put into the song and the mv!

Wow. I'm just fascinated. I really like it when a song: the lyrics, the instruments, altogether with the MV has such a deep, meaningful, not 'in your face' story behind it. I'm not ONEUS fan, but since the first listen I already liked this song. Now I know the meaning behind it, 'Lit' has become one of my fav K-Pop song. Also, I hope other fandoms don't start a war and accuse them with plagiarism. As you said, Korean traditional sounds are not owned by any artists. Actually, any type of sounds/music style. What matters are how these artists/musicians incorporate these sounds and create their own musics. Although you might find the song a bit similar with the other song, doesn't mean one is copying the other. Let's just say, they share the same concept.
wow after watching your explanation it's like the song became a lot more meaningful, it's really nice how they incorporated all those elements into the song and it's cool to also get to know more about korean culture. i guess this is my favorite oneus' title track so far, love it
Thank you David! Me and my K-pop BFFs have been following Oneus since their debut. Your explanation video was excellent. I think Korean culture and history is interesting.
I watched the m/v and was very curious about all the references they were making so ofc, I searched for this video. As someone who loves historical dramas as well, this was very educational and helped me understand what I was watching/listening to even better so thank you!
Thank you for making this video!! 정말 감사합니다🙏🙏 After watching this, I really respect to Ravn who anticipated in the lyrics writing for this song. He really did a good job!!

Also, I think the culture it's really nice and I like to know more about it and it's a good way to know more about it through music. They did a great job in this comeback!
Gotta be honest, when listening to BTS - Idol and other groups that may used Korean traditional culture & music within, I'm unaware with those! Thank you SO much!!! I was hoping that you would make an explanatory video about this masterpiece, and you did!!! I love when today's artists/idols mix modern music with traditional music and other traditional contents, it's just so magical!! And to me, ONEUS did a very great job doing so!! Thank you again for always sharing great content, I've been following your channel for over a year now and I love your work!!! Keep it up :D !!! (PS : Sorry if my English sounds weird it's not my native language, I speak french ^^)
Guys, you're killing it with this serie, I really, really, REALLY love it! This is my fave MV from ONEUS so far, I appreciate all the cultural references
Honestly, these explanation videos are always so insightful and enjoyable to watch. The song is already amazing and so good to listen to, and the explanations give us more understanding about the lyrics as well as promote the Korean culture! All of ONEUS' songs are amazing, and as someone who's not Korean, this song just gets easily stuck in my head all day.
I literally watched this last night and that's why (title was changed XD) I couldn't search it until I go to your channel... again 'THANK U' for featuring ONEUS - LIT(my newest addiction)... I believe that this song deserves to be listened by more people and this will be a great opportunity for them to be recognized cause they basically make great music as a rookie group... not to mention that the message and mv behind this song is deep and very meaningful to the korean culture & history so I can say that this is a helpful educational vid for us-- foreigners...
LMAOO that’s so cute, it’s okay we will share it everywhere for you. Btw, outstanding research done for this video with the links to previous albums and other things
This is soo interesting and educating! Integrating traditional culture into contemporary music results in a refreshing piece. It's like experiencing part of Korea without being there. It gets attention! I could watch this MV over and over. ONEUS has created art! BTS did something like this in a few of their pieces, too. I hope creations like this continue on.
Hahahaha I love how you used that epic scene from Iron Empress & jeon woo-chi the Taoist Wizard. I loved those drama you even mentioned Hong Gil Don damn
Thank you for the explanation, I love your way to dissect the references, and you also do a good research on the groups, even the ones you don't stan, thats why the quality of your videos are always top notch❤️ Also, about the moon, they are also referring to the fandom, To Moon, but in korean they often call us 달님 or 달님들 so yeah they are pretty much talking about us as well 😆
Honestly the explained series is my favourite out of all the videos you do! My friend and I had already said we hoped you would make one when we saw this MV!! I really enjoy learning and understanding the cultural references in the lyrics and video.
Thanks for the explanation. It really increases the appreciation of how well-written and produced this song is. From the music, the lyrics, and the choreo as well Edit : Oh, and thank you for having a Song So Hee video in there :D
Thank you guys for the explanation series. I am a Romanian part of a Samulnori team here in Romania. I absolutely loved your explanation regarding the more traditional side, expecialy Samulnori (as well as the one from Idol) and enjoyed Oneus video with all the traditional references as well
Actually really cool, similar thing in Hawaiian culture actually. We also formerly went by the moon calendar, as well as Moon and Month sharing the same word in Hawaiian “Mahina”. Absolutely loved the vid 👍🏽
This song is on my playlist on repeat. For me, the best song of 2019 from bgs. And thank you for this explanation video. Watching MV after this explain video, is interesting. ;) Also love this song because it is full in korean :) Once again, thanks.

This is apparently a Japanese saying. I learned it from the show romance is a bonus book. It's an indirect way of saying I love you.
@@muzikk67 i dont think its used that way here. That only works in japanese because like(suki) and moon(tsuki) sounds similar.

This deserves to be watched again !!
Hey DKDKTV, just leaving a comment to help you finesse the UA-cam algorithm
Thank you for the explanation, I love your way to dissect the references, and you also do a good research on the groups, even the ones you don't stan, thats why the quality of your videos are always top notch❤️
Also, about the moon, they are also referring to the fandom, To Moon, but in korean they often call us 달님 or 달님들 so yeah they are pretty much talking about us as well 😆
Looool i'll watch it again since I like the song and obviously your videos
Honestly the explained series is my favourite out of all the videos you do! My friend and I had already said we hoped you would make one when we saw this MV!! I really enjoy learning and understanding the cultural references in the lyrics and video.
Thanks for the explanation. It really increases the appreciation of how well-written and produced this song is. From the music, the lyrics, and the choreo as well
Edit : Oh, and thank you for having a Song So Hee video in there :D
This is why I love your channel!!!!! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Congratulations and thank you (from Australia) for your wonderfully sharp and entertaining explanations and edits. Great work!
The title had me curious and concerned. I was like, “ Oh no what happened!”
Thank you for the education 💯
Thank you guys for the explanation series. I am a Romanian part of a Samulnori team here in Romania. I absolutely loved your explanation regarding the more traditional side, expecialy Samulnori (as well as the one from Idol) and enjoyed Oneus video with all the traditional references as well
Of course I'll watch it again, it was the best video you guys have made in quite a while and I love supporting you guys :)
I didn’t know this group, but I loved this video! You guys are the best for sharing these type of information.
Thank you so very much for explaining,I haven't seen anyone trying to do that. I enjoyed your video very much.
Actually really cool, similar thing in Hawaiian culture actually. We also formerly went by the moon calendar, as well as Moon and Month sharing the same word in Hawaiian “Mahina”. Absolutely loved the vid 👍🏽
that’s so odd, south Asian languages like Urdu/ Hindi etc. Use the same word for month and I can’t find any link for the similarity
This song is on my playlist on repeat. For me, the best song of 2019 from bgs.
And thank you for this explanation video. Watching MV after this explain video, is interesting. ;)
Also love this song because it is full in korean :)
Once again, thanks.
5:10 i just realised oneus mentioned this in their kingdom performance i-
Wow!! OneUs boyz are really amazing
Thanks a lot for explaining that to us
I needed this video. Thank you so much. Now I'm even more proud of them

“Something cute”
**girl screaching her lungs out**
I LOVE THIS SONG
Super interesting! Thank you for helping us understand that there is more than beautiful music behind. I love kpop! Also, first time here and a new subscriber.
Awesome. My respect for all the contents and the place for Korean folklore cultural meanings. Thank you very much. This is what I thought at first impression with LIT and you confirmed with this update. Good vibes.
I am mind blown now
this video just 'LIT' up my lesson planning for Korean class "culture time". MUJI GOHMABS!
Thank you so much to create this video.
It absolutely blows my mind how Oneus is not more famous. And they’re not even nominated for MAMA this year >:/
Ive been looking forward to this video ever since the mv came out and you really didn't disappoint!! thank you so much!!!!
aaaa i've waited for this 😍 and it's a whole 17 minute long vid! thank you ✨
I honestly don't mind watching this again, it's so informative and well done. David you have the perfect tone of voice an intonations for these explanation videos!
