      @@redrumax I just saw him last night and he is the most humble, kind, self deprecating, loving, warm, funny, and vulnerable person I've ever seen on stage. It's like he pulled the audience in and wrapped his arms around everyone.
      He hinted at a Las Vegas residency. I suggest that everyone goes even if they've never heard of Culture Club. Amazing show! ❤️❤️❤️

    • @SmartRobot-wc2fb
      @SmartRobot-wc2fb 2 роки тому +1

      @@TheOriginalZzYT That's precisely how TRUE men (and women) should be. Most bully/competitive/narcissistic individuals spend all their time trying to prove how great they are (eg.: Trump), yet psychologically they are nothing but WEAK men projecting a strength they actually don't have, hidding skeletons and little demons. That's why Boy George said that.

    Those were the golden days of the 80s. While guarded, Boy George handled this Letterman interview like a pro. His intelligence and ability to articulate his purpose was far beyond his years for the time. He won Letterman over in little more than 11 minutes, a sign of true talent. Culture Club was a massive presence in North America in 1983, a popularity amongst all music genres of the day not to be underestimated.

    How totally charming, relaxed & natural, Boy George is! I was a teenager in the '80's. Culture Club, alongside Prince, Michael Jackson, Madonna & Cindy Lauper, were massive. The music of this era was not only characterised by innovative & memorable production techniques but the personalities & identities of the stars themselves. A truly Golden Era, which continues to leave its mark on the music of today.

    I think the gay community should take note of boy George in 83 did you notice his confidence and the way he held himself when the people in the crowd were laughing and lettermen asking very direct questions. Nowadays someone would be so offended and run off and the media would go burn down the show. But boy George knew his self worth and his talent his dreams in his music and the way he’d always wanted to present himself. True respect for him being himself everyone gay straight brown black or white should take note of that.

    Boy George is absolutely ahead of his time. I saw him in and interview around the same time, he was 23 or 24 and he said that a gay person got on him that he wasn't using his star platform to be a gay advocate and Boy George told him that that's not his job, that he's an advocate against discrimination and hate against people that are different, people that are far or skinny or disabled or mental disabled etc that everybody is an individual and unique and he would never make fun of anyone because they are different that he hates bullies and those who pick on those who cannot fight back, thats who I'm an advocate for and the gay person got upset and walked away. That really impressed me. He also said that when he became famous in the business what upset him the most was the rock stars that he idolized turned out to be fake, that it was just a show they put on. He said one needs to be true to ones self and he's absolutely correct.

      Well let’s be honest here, he was lying about his sexuality deliberately and it had nothing to do with selfless motivations. But the truth is, if I had been that gay person meeting him I would have told him to keep doing what he’s doing. If he had come out, his career would have been over before it started, and he needed to become a success in order to be something that young, gay, effeminate boys could look up to.

      Well no, he wasn't lying about his sexuality, he actually was bisexual in the early 80, he's had both boyfriends AND girlfriends, he was looking for a real true sensior type of love, back then he didn't care if his lover was male or female.
      Only in the mid 80s he actually said he is 100 percent gay. But then in 2006 he did have a girlfriend.

    After watching a couple of these old interviews, I see what it is that made him so different. Not just his looks and his clothes! He just doesn't belong in that time! He belongs here, in our time! If you look at recent interviews, you see that nothing changed about him. He's a little bit older but exactly the same person. But that person fits way better in 2017 than the 80's.

      Bullshit. If someone dressed now as eccentric as he did then, they'd still get bothered and asked questions about it. 2017/18, for the most part, sucks and is uninspiring. The 80s were perfect for BG and his sound.

      Actually Boy George fitted very well in the 1980’s. Fashion was very extravagant and flamboyant which is probably why he was accepted so well even though being gay was still taboo back then. If he was a gay man who dressed normally there may have been more prejudice.

I think it was a very good interview. And George was so well spoken and gentle. Such a great man.

      Star tracker ....star there is nothing wrong by asking about the way he dress and look. This was back inthe 80s and if you was different or dress different than others, then people will ask why this, why that. I think it was a nice interview and boy b answer all questions with no shame......great artist who wanted to be known specially in america in his early days as an artist. When you go on a talk show you have an interview first. They ask you what you can answer and what you cant.....and you sign papers for that.

Sure, there wld've been a few, as there are a few now. But the difference between now & then is not so big. Little Richard was a big star in the 50s, & he basically did himself up like a woman. The biggest difference between now and then is that a higher percentage of kids openly identify as "bi". The actual numbers of people who have homosexual trysts or more is probably up slightly, but not much. It is just more trumpeted from the rooftops. Human sexuality is essentially the same.

    Letterman gets credit for resisting the temptation to make George the butt of his jokes (it would’ve backfired anyway, George would’ve handled him lol). But for 1983 certainly letterman gets props for taking George seriously. His questions were genuine curiosity and how can one learn if they don’t inquire? I remember loving George’s audacity and courage. And he could certainly sing.
