Loved this video! But I don't know if I can support Radiohead anymore after finding out they were solely responsible for the collapse of the world trade centers
I found an easter egg from both the 2 + 2 = 5 EP's. If you take of the jewel case and look at the left hand side of the background art, you can find word's that say "WAR IS PEACE. FREEDOM IS SLAVERY. 2 + 2 = 5." I think I'm the first one to find this easter egg.
For disassembling a jewel case: There are 2 tiny inner tabs on the top and bottom (totaling 4 tabs) connecting the tray to the backside of the jewel case (these can be spotted as little circular holes on the top right, top left, bottom right, and bottom left of the jewel case) To untab the tabs; use something extremely thin to get at the tab and gently pry it open while pulling away at another part of the tray to help it untab (I usually start from hinge side of the case as the hinge part of the tray tends to has a nice lip to grip and flexes better). that's 1 tab down and 1 more to go as the tab below the one you just freed will also free itself as it's no longer under pressure, so just do the same for one of the remaining tabs and voila! you are now inside of Kid A! I used to use the edge of my thumb nail for prying, but I've also had massive success with the toothpick off of my swiss army knife, but the more traditional rounded wooden toothpick can work just as well so long as you push it in a crevice that's between the tab and the rest of the plastic, as a woody won't fit very nicely when pushing directly on the tab unlike the flatter SAK pick (funny enough I found out about the toothpick trick with my own 1st edition copy of Kid A that I got after watching this video, since the edge of my thumb got bruised earlier in the day). Use whatever tools and items you already got laying around and see what works best for you Thanks for making this video, I adore CDs and would love to see you cover other interesting physical releases of other Radiohead albums (namely the OKNOTOK release of OK Computer, as I still don't quite fully comprehend it)
Thanks for the detailed instructions! Now I can finally stop mangling poor innocent CD cases just to see what's inside of them. I'll definitely get into other physical releases when I get around to them, like the TKOL Newspaper Edition, In Rainbows Special Edition, the EMI cash grab releases, etc. and I'll definitely look into the OKNOTOK stuff. It's still up in the air whether I want to do it as a separate contained video or include them when I cover each respective album, ideally too I'd have to purchase some of them first.
the bomb on the plane segment is actually pretty chilling to listen to, especially the direct mention of new york. great video, keep up the good work 👍
about the 9/11 thing: thom says in the christie's interview how there was this energy "of something bad about to happen" when talking about some of the art. Theres a piece called trade center (sick painting look it up), and stanley donwood talks about his thoughts on representing power structures and his horror at the events going on in the balkans at the time. I think they kinda just knew something was gonna happen but they cast a wide enough net that they kinda predicted it. still eerie to see some of the stuff regardless also they played a show in berlin on 9/11 and there used to be some clips on citizen insane but i can't find them. a quote I saw tho "so who here doesn't know about it? everybody knows what i'm talking about? don't know what i'm talking about? know about the airplanes in america? that's why things are a little bit mute tonight. i'm sorry about that. this is called paranoid android..."

It's funny, I actually had to order a copy of OKC just for the Green Album bit (also because I wanted one). It's not that I didn't have OK Computer already. It's because for some reason whenever I do have it on CD I fucking lose it! I've lost two copies of OKC one by giving it to a coworker and the other just fucking vanished. I had OKNOTOK on CD still but it doesn't have the text since there's no spine.

Yes!!!! That is precisely what the reference is lmao, I'm so glad someone got that. I'm like the biggest Cybershell fan ever and I was originally gonna call this video just "Kid A's Hidden Booklet (and more)", but I realized I could fit that reference in and did that instead. Which is cool also because the original title was very boring. Thank you so much for your nice comments too. I feel very relieved with someone saying my video is unique. You mentioned in the Radiohead iceberg about a video you were considering making about the Muse and Coldplay comparisons to them. Is that still something you’re potentially doing because I think it could be really interesting. After each band evolved more then the comparisons became less fair and mostly surface level, but the earliest couple record from both bands as well as artists like Travis and Remy Zero show an immediate influence. You could argue each band respectively took a few tracks from either The Bends or OK Computer era and crafted their own sound around that. The album Parachutes is very much like Lift or High & Dry. Showbiz evokes The Trickster or even something like Exit Music. Then bands like Travis were more so going for the Fake Plastic Trees sound on a record like The Man Who.
Yeah definitely! It's something I considered putting off for later but I've gotten a couple of comments asking about it so I'll probably try to get it out after a few more videos I have planned. Have you seen the ‘extra’ album material in the King of Limb’s 10” Clear vinyl that has perforated paper that seems to be prepared to be easily appropriated for tabs of acid should a dealer see fit… and a newspaper, reminiscent of Tulls’ ‘Thick as. Brick’ but as a graphic Daily Mail. Strange, frightening and beautiful package. I’m so naive but I dig the lore and mystery that’s created as a companion to the music, the vibe. I grew up thinking The Cure were dark but they got nothing on these guys.
hidden tracks used to be on the last grooves of a vinyl record, like te ending to Sgt Pepper's. some artists made it loop infinitely like GY!BE did in F#A#infinity

are there different versions of kid a cds? i have the first booklet on the front but when i take the back off theres a piece of paper with the front of the second booklet and on the other side the tracklist, am i missing something? did i get a weird XL recordings release?
@weird_fiches on Instagram told me that it varies by region, and that there can be a booklet regardless of insert color. As a general rule of thumb for EU/US regions, the glossy black plastic tray will usually be the one to have the booklet. I can verify that rereleases in the US from XL with the transparent tray do not have the booklet, but will sometimes have art that resembles the first page of the booklet. It sounds to me like you have that version.

I had that booklet but I was not aware it was limited, I have no clue what happened to it, I got the cd at release back in the 2000's :(
the sudden mention of 911 caught me so off guard holy shit lmao
So not only was this video about radiohead
but he started playing silent hill music at the end
Promise (Reprise) reminds me of old creepypastas
"Also check out this sick drawing of Tony Blair" 🤣🤣🤣😂😂
Can't even trust your favourite band, because when you least expect it: Bam, they were behind 9/11😔
Jokes aside, this was an amazing video! Can't wait to see what you've got in store for us, keep up the good work, man!
Nice use of the Dreamcast.
the king is back
Listening to Radiohead on a Dreamcast seems like a vibe
Have you seen the ‘extra’ album material in the King of Limb’s 10” Clear vinyl that has perforated paper that seems to be prepared to be easily appropriated for tabs of acid should a dealer see fit… and a newspaper, reminiscent of Tulls’ ‘Thick as. Brick’ but as a graphic Daily Mail. Strange, frightening and beautiful package. I’m so naive but I dig the lore and mystery that’s created as a companion to the music, the vibe. I grew up thinking The Cure were dark but they got nothing on these guys.
Bro your videos are fire
You sound like Cybershell
You're the cybershell of Radiohead .
hidden tracks used to be on the last grooves of a vinyl record, like te ending to Sgt Pepper's. some artists made it loop infinitely like GY!BE did in F#A#infinity
Mine has the booklet but the two stick men are page two where the one shown
has the face page two 😱
Wow really? You're talking about that matte, tracing paper? That's really interesting, I didn't know it varied like that
@@pookapeeka Yeah I only found out last night about the hidden booklet after watching
your post so was happy to see I had one in my cd , so yeah my tracing paper is other way round men then face and my first inner page is cropped right up tight to the letters
(must have been put together on a friday) 😂
9:40 actually it was popularized by The Beatles on Abbey Road. Her Majesty comes in after the silence following The End
i bought it when it first came out and remembered there were a few secret lines if you removed the ok computer art from the cd. i looked at it when i got in my car and saw a face through the center button thingy so i pried it open and revealed the booklet.
great vid as always
I love physical media
My CD copy of Kid A doesn’t have that hidden booklet.
i like how ure wearing blue gloves while ur cat is in the corner
Your voice reminds me of a deeper emplemon
Those Harbor Freight light blue gloves are more unsettling than any hidden fact about the band, too many memories of cleaning shit around the house and doing weeks of mechanic work because your dad is too stubborn and cheap to pay for a professional to fix shit and it ends up costing the same amount of money in the end.
Just realized that I'm a 40 year old man who gets annoyed by blue gloves wtf is wrong with me smh nice video either way bruh👌
hidden track stone roses second coming wait then wait ...
i like how this video got off a bit
Banger video.
Thanks king, I was listening to your Nightcore remixes while making it
@@pookapeeka unfathomably based
thom yorke did the pentagon
You ever heard of this band 'Radiohead'?They're pretty underground
Amazing content pooka
Damone! Respect.
Best channel ever
hell yeah another fan of tammers i see
Where did you find the blip that's blurred out in the background around 12:30? That one was never officially released.
I’m pretty sure that’s an unreleased music video for Motion Picture Soundtrack. It uses clips from existing blips
hey man i love your radiohead videos. I know this is a big ask but like your radiohead iceberg can you make a video on the band’s discography, yknow including promo cds, eps, box sets?
I'm gonna tackle through each album individually and get into deeper stuff from there
If you'd like something similar though to bide the time, you should check out this video by Carbonated Dipping Jam. It's 9 hours long and it's fantastic, goes very in depth into each album.

are there different versions of kid a cds? i have the first booklet on the front but when i take the back off theres a piece of paper with the front of the second booklet and on the other side the tracklist, am i missing something? did i get a weird XL recordings release?
also, the plastic that holds the cd is clear
@weird_fiches on Instagram told me that it varies by region, and that there can be a booklet regardless of insert color.
As a general rule of thumb for EU/US regions, the glossy black plastic tray will usually be the one to have the booklet. I can verify that rereleases in the US from XL with the transparent tray do not have the booklet, but will sometimes have art that resembles the first page of the booklet. It sounds to me like you have that version.
There exist also a version of kid a with a limpid cd tray instead of black
hey, your channel's great! congrats for all your videos tbh they're awesome!
i have a question tho, where did you find kid a cd copies as cheap as you show them there?
