I think a big problem is people overstate or misrepresent how hard hitting Monsta X's music is, which leads to an expectation much like you expected something like Stray Kids' Double Knot, when in reality it's just a very different style. Monsta X DO have hard hitting tracks, but they're not hard hitting in the same way a Stray Kids hard hitting track would be. They do have a sound that's very distinct, though, and are able to do pretty hard hitting songs with it. If you want something hard hitting, I highly recommend Alligator, Shoot Out, or even Follow. Follow you'd be familiar with because Pentagon covered it on RtK. Follow was also the last cb Wonho was a part of, though I'll let someone else explain what that situation is. If you want another completely insane, storydriven MV (though the song isn't one of their hardhitting ones), I HIGHLY recommend All In. It's the first mv in their The Clan series and it's WILD.
One of the best rap lines in the industry! I recommend you check out Sambakja live, you will love it. Plus Beastmode (dance practice, no MV), a rapline-focused song. This video is connected story-wise to Find You and one other I can't remember right now. Monsta X's style is highly distinctive. Their tracks are heavily EDM-influenced featuring industrial style too. In the beginning, it was much more Hip Hop-heavy. Now, they feature different styles from Latin influences to traditional, EDM, jazzy, R&B and their first full English album is a lot more popwashed for easy listening. Generally, they have a more mature and darker concept and give off a more masculine vibe, and sadly, are underappreciated in Korea. I recommend Alligator, Shoot Out, Follow, Beautiful, Hero, Stuck, Gambler. But keep in mind when these songs were released in their discography, naturally, groups mature over time. MX has evolved quite a lot since 2018.
Yes finally Monsta X! One of my ult groups! Monsta X can go ridiculously hard but also have such fun and happy songs. They can do it all and the boys all have amazing personalities! I hope you check out more of them! Ya Wonho was accused of some stuff and he left the group to avoid a bad rep falling on the group while he dealt with things privately through the court. It was proven he wasn't in the wrong and actually innocent but they wouldn't let him come back to Monsta X so he is now a soloist. I forever miss him in the group but he solo stuff is great Monbebe's will continue to support him
Just to add off of this the label that Wonho went to is actually Highline Entertainment, which is a subsidiary under Starship Entertainment so he's still technically tied to Starship. I had heard they tried to support Wonho as much as possible but he made the choice to leave to avoid bringing a bad rep to the group and this was kind of the situation set up to help still support him but also support his wishes. I miss him dearly with the group, but I love his solo music and am beyond proud of him!
@@trishlopez7308 I can't truly answer that because I wasn't there to witness what happened. The reason he didn't rejoin Monsta X I would think is after any kind of "scandal" even when proven innocent, people still hate that person for no reason and it could still damage Monsta X's rep if they let him back in. It's ridiculous, but how it usually goes...
Monsta X's song is hard hitting esp raps and beats and also with amazing melody lines so it's not noisy noisy. DRAMARAMA is when they got their first win and alot of Kpop wish they could Monsta X style. I'd like to recommend Find You MV and Destroyer music Film to understand the storyline. 🖤🎶🤟
'They've got to exist in that same timeline right?' .. well not if one died though...😶 Anyway define hard hitting for you? Because doing a direct comparison to another group for a sound you're looking for is not going to work... Monsta X are in their own unique niche sound wise, they are also incredibly versatile and don't just stick with the one sound or blend of genres, although they have their own trademark flavour in each of their songs. You just need to clear your mind of comparisons and expectations, but maybe I would suggest songs like Gambler (because I said so) Hero, Trespass, Beast Mode, Stand Together, Now or Never, Deja Vu, Oi, Shoot Out, Spotlight (Japanese ver), Turbulence, Flash Back (Jpn), X-Phenomenon (Jpn), Chaotic, Zone... ??? You might get more what you're looking for?? out of the rap units collabs like SAMBAKJA and their solo works though
Yes, I love what you said here. I understand people like to compare one thing to another but I hate when people compare music groups. MX really their own genre.
I think the situation you mentioned at the beginning was Yanan from Pentagon. He was on a hiatus because of his mental health and then shot a drama, but he stated multiple times he didn't know when Cube would bring him back but he was ready. Some fake allegations came out about Wonho (I think weed related) a few days after fake allegations were made about two other members I believe by some girl who was just causing a bunch of shit for idols around that time. And he on his own accord was basically like I'm out to protect the other member's like image. The company and members were both shocked by it and honestly people petitioned really hard for him to come back. Ultimately it didn't happen in the end, but felt like the closest thing to getting an idol back into a group after leaving. It's since been proven in court that Wonho was innocent (not that weed is that bad honestly) I'm pretty sure the same girl is the one who made the drug allegations that Hanbin from Ikon thought about buying drugs at one point and ended in YG kicking him. This was around the time of the Seungri of Big Bang scandals so Hanbin/BI seemed like a scape goat. Monsta X is pretty hard hitting in some songs, but not necessarily in this song. I was obsessed with this song and the music video when it came out back in 2017 (? no concept of time could be wrong). Glad you finally checked them out.
I would recommend Trespass or Shoot Out for "harder" songs, but Monsta X truly have their own unique style. Their rap line can definitely go hard and play off each other well, so I can see why some people might compare them to a group like Stray Kids. Less hard but still really good are Stuck, Hero (rooftop version), Beautiful and Jealousy. Fighter is also fun (for reasons). I really love the choreo for Dramarama and would recommend checking out a live stage so you can fully appreciate it. One of my favorite MX choreos.
When you see their choreo you'll see they go real hard haha Title tracks tho go hardest I'd say are Shoot Out, Follow and Fantasia Some b sides that go hard would be Destroyer (it's sort of used in a lil film they did) and the big one that goes off at all the concerts is Fallin'
I’m just subscribed to your Patreon for album listens and I’m beyond happy you’re diving into Monsta X! Cannot wait for you to do an album listen to their discography! Hint hint..😉😁 Lots of good suggestions already here but my fav by them is the song Beautiful. It’s not as hard as others but it’s a 100% Monsta X sounding song and has a awesome choreography! Also their newest English album is omfg good! Not sure if it’s your style cause I’m new to you but your fav groups, Stray Kids and Ateez means you just may like a lot of what you hear from Monsta X! Their last two albums(all their albums really) are just phenomenal. Anyways, looking forward to your journey! Also, their other content where you get to know them…you’ll find them FULL of personality! You’ll love them in no time!😁
If you are interested in getting to know more about the story, check out another 2 songs (find you & the connect (destroyer) that are connected to this song. React to them and tell us what you think. Also, check out the VCR as well ua-cam.com/video/K0XBOZJx9Gc/v-deo.html
At first I don’t know why my niece LOVE them but now I watching Monsta X inUA-cam. Those boys are awesome. They get more improvements on different languages compare another singers only Singing English.
Happy to see you starting the journey. For the storyline you should watch Find You and The Connect Deja Vu Film. For more agressive you should watch Shoot Out, Sambakja or Love Killa. Love from Argentina!
I mean if you go back to their first songs (and more recent bsides) you gonna understand why people told you about the hard hitting style that could be compared to Stray Kids. They have sick in your face rap lines, and the more recent songs even different, they keep some of that old Monsta X. I feel if you like Dramarama you can basically like everything they have done, so you have a very nice ride ahead :)
Yaaai, I've been waiting for your Monsta X reaction🙌🏻 For a heavier songs I recommend you; Beast mode (dance practice), Shoot out, Gambler, Alligator, Hero (rooftop version), Fighter. Their storytelling it's kinda hard to understand, but the MV's have a really good production❤️
thanks for reacting to Monsta X, this MV specifically is very heavy storytelling wise and the song is not as hard hitting as some others, but it's still up there. I'd like to recommnd you their All In MV, it is similar to this one in the fact that it has a lot of stuff connected to the storyline and is once again not as hard hitting, but I really enjoy it and there's not many reactions to it so I think it would be nice to get your opinion on it
Listen I think Wonho's and Shownu's sparring is a metaphor for fuc- well let's say I assume they're lovers lmao. ( I mean, they're getting hot and heavy, wonhos angsting about shownu in the shower which isn't really a time to think about your bros etc). + In terms of the storyline emotional impact- like losing a brother / seeing your best friend die in a crash / being separated from a lover from a different timeline is a better balance than losing a sparring partner lol. I love this MV and think it's interesting how they were able to make the three endings tragic in different ways- Brothers I.M and Minhyuk both remember being reunited and then ripped apart from each other, and live with the knowledge that they'll never be together again. Shownu sits alone in the dojo, waiting for Wonho like always, not knowing that Wonho will never return (or why). Jooheon, grieving for the loss of his best friend, will never know that Kihyun sacrificed his life to trade places with him.
At 1:25 I think the member you might be mentioning is yanan from Pentagon. He went on hiatus for his health and when he was ready to come back cube was being a 💩 and not responding to him and basically kept him in the dark for a rly long time.
I didn't realize you hadn't gotten around to MonstaX! They're a hit or miss group title track wise for me, similar with EXO. I watched their survival show and it was one of the last ones I watched for awhile. Got to me a bit too much emotionally and I needed a break lol. Personal faves with MVs besides "Dramarama" are "Stuck," "Hero (Rooftop Version)," "Newton," "Jealousy," and "Find You." The last 3 are definitely not what anyone would consider hard hitting though. The one in the red sweater who exchanged places in the car with his friend is Kihyun and he's my bias!
Sorry, I know I'm a little late to your MX reactions, but I just saw this in my recommendations. This was Monsta X's first win in Kpop and I'm so proud of them! Interesting fact: The car crash was not GCI or computer-generated, but filmed using a real car. The scene was shot using a machine that rotated the car while Jooheon was inside it (and then Kihyun), followed by the crash of an actual car.
"Why can't you just hang out with your 2 years younger brother" honestly dude took the words out of my MOUTH. Gambler, Follow, and Love Killa would be some of the next ones you should check out imo. Love Killa is what hooked me but this MV is too good and i had to show it to you right away.
Always awesome seeing you get introduced to groups that are new to you (yay, Patrons!). Monsta X is a weird one for me, as I went into checking them out the same way as you - anticipating the hard and aggressive since that's what we hear about them. They do have that. I expected to really immediately love them based on that, but they just have never grabbed me personally. I think they're super talented, especially the rappers - I actually really really like I.M's style and voice. I do enjoy Love Killa quite a bit. I wish I knew what it was that prevents me from stanning them entirely, but I have never been able to put my finger on it. Much respect to them though, and I'll look forward to you diving into them as well!
Monsta X !!!! Can’t wait to see more reactions from you on them !! If you want hard song, you should react to Shoot Out, Alligator or Follow ! They have a unique vibe so you can easily tell if the song is theirs ! I can also recommend you some songs : Jealousy, Gambler, All In (and their entire discography) ! And if you want to be impressed by the rapline I suggest you « Sambakja » !
i was actually wondering when u would react to ur first monsta x video, so i'm so excited for this reaction!!! Plz check out their Jealousy, Follow and Fantasia, they're such talented boys!!!! the rappers are a legendary duo (jooheon and IM)

Jooheon and I.M rapping back to back will never get old them 2 a fucking amazing! Best rap duo!!!!
Monstax noise music is the inspiration for 4th gen groups like skz ateez so yea we dont need comparisons
YES MONSTA X I LOVE THEM SO MUCH!!! Fantasia next please!!!! Oh and Gambler, Shoot out, Love Killa and omg Alligator.... so many good songs!!!
You mentioned the holy songs !!
Yes please reaction to those
