This music sounds like you install a new extension to your Sega Genesis, and it'll load up its own bios to play this startup tune. (Similarly to how the SEGA CD Loads without a disc.)

This is not a tracker program, this is a MML compiler. MML is different from trackers in that everything is typed in as text vs. using a visual representation of each channel's commands and note data. I appreciate the kind words, though! If you download the source code down below, you can see how everything was laid out.
Although I don't listen to a lot of FoD's music, I can't understate how much "The Coffee Zone" influenced my approach to doing chiptune music so thanks for the kind words!!!
I really like the atmosphere of this song! It feels like walking into the city at midnight while attempting to solve some type of mystery. Thank you for such an enjoyable song!
Holy smoke! The chord progression is very PC-98 and way groovier than any crazy jazz songs I've listened by far. Hope I can reach to this level as an amateur music producer. "Awesome" is an understatement here.
This is the first piece I’ve heard from you, but I’ve been listening to it nonstop since I found it. Wonderful noises!! For some reason, it gives me nostalgia for the atmospheric Wii/Wii U era Nintendo menus? I’m not a composition expert, so I could articulate why, but thank you for this tune ❤
keygen type vibe. feels like im boutta pirate something to this tune well past midnight as a breeze comes in the window and the full moons light wavers over the crt screen through the swaying blinds. or something like that
Can I use this, and two of your existing songs (Interstate Infinity and Jumpstart) for my streams as a stream playlist? I am an indie streamer so I'm still relatively new, but I feel like this song fits my stream vibe! Of course, I will credit you in my streams for the music.
This sounds straight out of a hypothetical Ecco The Dolphin 3 on the Genesis that actually refined the gameplay of it’s previous games. Also before you guys say it, no, Ecco JR doesn’t count.
Into the "sounds like Streets of Rage jar", lol. Thanks, funny enough Streets of Rage was one of the earliest influences for me to do music. I always thought Dance music was much more fun to write vs. Traditional music because of layering the parts over each other and the quick switch-ups you can do. You know what, because I keep getting this comment a lot I'm going to compile a playlist of my compositions that deserve the "sounds like Streets of Rage" comment.
@@muscises1858 Dang, I hate to be that guy then haha. I was going to say Yuzo Koshiro, but I couldn't think of his name at the time. I think 90's edm music plays to the Mega Drive's strengths, songs like Stereo Protect on pulse man are a perfect example of it.
I see how you use the PSG to produce the cymbal sounds but how do you produce the drum sounds? I am thinking maybe the DAC but that would be horribly processor intensive. Can you briefly explain what the channels are and what the columns of data correspond to? I presume on the YM chip you need 2 bytes, one for the pitch and one for the envelope to define the instrument?
The Drums were going through the DAC, and the reason why they sound so good is because the sound driver does a good job handling DMAs between the two CPUs. When it comes to how the channels are laid out in the test program, it's very tricky since some channels will phase in and out of the lower slots in the video. If you want to learn more about the technical side of the sound driver, here's the link: github.com/superctr/MDSDRV/tree/master/doc
Yes, Blastem is a (very-accurate) Genesis emulator. There's also nukeyt's emulator for the Genesis, github.com/nukeykt/Nuked-MD, but it requires a more processing power to even work.
You can find me in the mmlgui discord server linked in the github repository: github.com/superctr/mmlgui Once you're there, you can ask questions on how it works, general support, or even learn about the world of MML. I will preface that this kind of stuff is much more diligent than using a music tracker, so it'll take some time to get proficient at it. Other than that, the community is excited to see you there!
So, this is emulated through Blastem which is the most accurate Sega Genesis emulator. However, this can be played through the physical chips 100%. I have some hardware recorded on me, if you're interested.
Currently, I don't have any plans to upload my stuff to Spotify(mainly out of principle) but I'll definitely compile my recent works on my BandCamp sometime during the summer this year. Thanks for the compliment as well! 😄
The neat part is depending on which parts are playing, the registers will reflect it accordingly. A good example is seeing when I switch from full FM to FM + PCM.

You and FearofDark really hit that smooth, chill vibe, it's so good
Check out Bold Resonation if you really want to hear me be FearofDark.(sort of)

"Adding more Blast Processing to your Sega Genesis..."
Mega Drive!
SegaCD had a different banger for each region & model & they are all 🔥
This track hit me with the same awe & wonder feels those bios jams do 💫
Imagine if the 32X had a BIOS screen.

I love it when tracker composers push old gen console soundchips to their limits. Great Job!

@@muscises1858 ohhhh i see, still rlly cool tho!:)
imagining a clubhouse with a nice balcony at night w/ this playing would be so nice
Nicely done bro, appreciated how mellowed and chilled-out the flow of the FM on this track is, gave it ‘The Coffee Zone’ by fearofdark vibes. 🌊

This is amazing. Like the music form of a friendly companion in the night. It feels like inner peace.
Thanks! I've been told that my stuff have this sense of warmth that's welcoming.

The opening is amazing

"Awesome" is an understatement here.
A byproduct of 1980-1990 era which jazz fusion & city pop hit the mainstream Japan (the country which PC-98 had prominence)

No need to be an expert, you just speak your mind on how it feels. It's art, after all.
@@muscises1858 Thank you, that’s important to be reminded of!
Those are some sweet, unexpected chord movements!
This is one of the best songs I think I've ever heard.
bold of Yuzo Koshiro to ask you to make the song for the scrapped rooftop stage in Streets of Rage 2
Jokes aside, sick stuff.
First song I've heard of yours. Love the vibe.
Glad, you enjoyed it.
This sounds so good!! I am happy that you are getting the recognition you definitely deserve!!
for some reason my stupid ass clicked on this expecting a cover of moonside swing from earthbound, but this is rlly good too!!
The bass is insane

or something like that
The PSG usage is phenomenal!
Beautiful and funky. Absolutely love it.
Would be an absolute killer track for shop-like environment for a game. Good work!
Sounds amazing on my stereo setup. Props.
gorgeous textures - subscribed
I love this track!!
Really nicely done, my dude.
Damn, great mood, love the intro especially !
So good!
Very nice stuff.
Thanks!
Bless this algorithm sometimes.
Good ambient
nice little Computer Game nod at the end. I cried
I'm happy it moved you that way.
I like it very much!

Streets of Rage title but alternate universe
