      All clears are the counter tactic that were specifically throwing off Wumbo's center 4-wides, not just "strong fundamental play." Doremy is an amazing player, but Wumbo has no issues with quickly setting up a wide variety of T-spins and tetrises. Wumbo honestly seemed nervous. I've never seen him make so many mistakes.

    The reason Wumbo lost was because he failed to adapt in the end.
    In a fight, both fighters must constantly adapt to their opponents counterplay, and it ends up being this constand back and forth. However, despite the fact that 4w just wasn't working anymore, he kept doing it. The right thing to do to intercept a 4w is with an all clear, which Doremy did. But to counter a perfect clear, you need to send a small burst of damage. But to counter a small burst of damage, a 4w can be adapted. But this didn't happen. So there ya go.

Anyone know why cause it just bothers me why they would just do a normal combo instead.

      The most viable counterplay for 4-wides (outside of a 4-wide of your own, of course) is pressure. You can either KO them if they are using the regular 4-wide, or prevent them from building huge towers for center 4-wide (unless RNG is a harsh mistress and places all the garbage holes in the center).

    Wumbo's 4w are intensely powerful, but you seem to have found a good counter for it. I feel like you're a better more flexible player than Wumbo is, since he almost relies exclusively on 4w to do damage when you & other pros (Amemiya & Rivclia) can still pull off T-spins to setup counters.

    The goal is to win, right? So why is it so bad that wumbo is using c4w? In a real life battle, why wouldn't you use everything you have to your advantage? His advantage is that he is really good at c4w. His disadvantage is that he doesn't adapt. Doremy's advantage is that he can counter c4w effectively. His disadvantage is that he does play just a bit slower so he can be beaten through speed. They are both great players, but one was just better than the other this time

    • @Miminitinumitumun
      @Miminitinumitumun 5 років тому +18

      Personal reasons, likely, since Doremy's stated before that he doesn't like 4wide but also cause it's not a guaranteed victory sometimes and 2 people 4widing can end up becoming a stall play as neither player is willing to initiate their combo.
      There are a few matches of Wumbo vs Amemiya on both of their channels that show matches that start with neither of them doing anything and just stalling out pieces for as long as possible. It's boring as hell.

      Wumbo always deletes his videos/streams of him losing, and in this video he used a broken technique that is extremely hard to counter, considering he is already an pro player in tetris, it is deem unacceptable for him to use a cheap tactic.

    • @user-fc2xk3uv8y
      @user-fc2xk3uv8y Рік тому +3

      @@CodeJazper i want to add to this (old) thread that is not that he just uses it, its that he abuses it that makes it cheap. its a valid mechanism and comes up naturally in gameplay often, but the issue is he, every time MUST set up a favorable downstack for himself. and then when he loses, he never shares it which makes him look like a high level player when the whole time he's using a mechanic that's near impossible to beat to get high ranks and wins.
