Great idea and wonderfully looking mushrooms. Was looking for some projects to do on a mini lathe (I don't have a 4jaw chuck yet) and this seems a good one to do it on. Thanx.
No 4 jaw chuck. Buy a tap the same threading as your mini lathe and make yourself some wood faceplates that you can glue to. It's not as versatile as a 4 jaw chuck but will serve for some projects. I could make one do for the mushrooms if I had to. Alan
No. Before turning a log or wet blank, I use a wax emulsion marketed as end grain sealer. It's easier than melting paraffin wax. Even then, I cut all large logs in half lengthwise - else most will crack no matter what. The beeswax/mineral oil mixture I picked up from Eli Avisera. 4 oz of beeswax melted into 1 pint of mineral oil (NOT mineral spirits). I use the beeswax/oil for sanding and for finishing on many projects.
@Artam The formula you gave is a cost to provide formula, not a price formula. Price is what people are willing to pay. Profit is the difference. Profit determines whether you're willing to continue to make the item or not. When enough people will pay a price that provides a profit you are happy with, then life is good.
The wood is beautiful. That came out great.
Thank you very much!
Alan

Dutchie But be sure to keep it in the dark until it is ready. :)

You're so welcome. Thank you for watching.
Alan
Only the beeswax/mineral oil mix I use for sanding and often for finishing.
A couple have developed small cracks. That's ok for these mushrooms.
Alan
That's a great idea - I'll add some sort of base to the list.
Thanks.

Stay tuned - it's in edit now.
I'm not sure about pricing either.
Any ideas?
