Amazing, thank you for posting this. I was at this tattoo, and I used to love watching the planes from Alconbury fly over and around Peterborough when I was a kid. I seem to remember A10s flying over Peterborough almost every day!
RAF Alconbury was a great airshow to visit, with a fab mix of military aircraft, which I enjoyed watching immensely. Not only that though, as I have an interest in HF radio communications, seeing all those huge HF comms antenna's on the base was absolutely fantastic. That F-111 static display, looks like it's ready to fly! Remember the Hawker Hunter display, German Luftwaffe Tornado and Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird ?
RAF Alconbury was my first duty station, I was working in the tower for this airshow and your video brought back many memories of an awesome tour (1990-1992). I went back to visit several times between 2006 and 2009 but so much had changed. Thank you so much for posting this, and thank you for the warmth and support of the Huntingdon community! (I suspect the videographer may have been one of the “tail spotters” we often watched though binoculars ;-) PE
I remember Alconbury well myself. I was there from 89-91. Not sure if my last name is familiar to you or not but my old man was the Vulture squadron commander at the time. Mike "Irish" O'Connor. I still remember there was a cheesy restaurant off base by the highway that was shaped like a UFO. Weird seeing footage from back then. Time flies.
When airshows were worth going too. So much different aircraft types back then. Little did the pilots know they would be going to war less than a year later.
Once went there in the late 80's when i was in the RAF. Great RAF station..of course used by the great USAF. Loved the place....every bit how an air base should be.
If my memory serves the 511th had been gone for a few months by then. Pretty sure I remember my Dad taking them to the Desert right around Christmas. He was the squadron commander for the 511th at the time.

Went every year with my dad and went in 1993 with my own children.
