This is some TV footage I recorded onto VHS tape of the VJ Day celebrations in London on the 5th August 1995.
Great footage of the day , highlight for me is the Poppy Drop by the Lancaster over The Mall.
The Queen was joined by members of the Royal Family as she presided over a series of commemorations marking the 50th Anniversary of VJ (Victory in Japan) Day on this day in 1995, marking the 50th Anniversary of the end of the Second World War, a few months after the VE Day 50th Anniversary events. Following a ceremony at Horse Guards Parade the previous evening, the Royal Family attended a Service and Parade outside Buckingham Palace with a flypast including aircraft such as -
