  • After exploring Metz's Old Town, Inday’s heart is aglow with the wonder of this French gem. The historic center of Metz, with its enchanting blend of medieval and Renaissance architecture, feels like a living museum where every street and building tells a story.
Her journey began at the stunning Metz Cathedral, or Saint-Étienne Cathedral, an awe-inspiring Gothic masterpiece. Inday was spellbound by the cathedral's vast, airy interior and its spectacular stained glass windows, which bathe the space in a kaleidoscope of colors, transforming the ancient stone into a canvas of light and artistry.
Wandering through the narrow, winding streets, Inday found herself captivated by the eclectic charm of Metz's Old Town. The Place d'Armes, a picturesque square surrounded by elegant buildings and bustling cafes, offered the perfect spot to pause and soak in the city’s atmosphere. She enjoyed a leisurely coffee at a quaint café, watching as locals and visitors alike strolled by, immersed in the city’s vibrant yet relaxed pace.
The beautiful, medieval bridge known as the Pont des Morts, with its scenic views over the Moselle River, was another highlight. The tranquil reflections on the water and the soft murmur of the river added a peaceful touch to her exploration. Inday also marveled at the Gallo-Roman walls and the Porte des Allemands, ancient fortifications that stand as proud reminders of Metz’s strategic significance throughout history.
The charm of Metz’s Old Town extends beyond its historical landmarks. The colorful half-timbered houses and narrow alleyways are a delight to explore, with each turn revealing a new facet of the city’s character. She was particularly enchanted by the serene ambiance of the Jardins de l’Esplanade, where she took a moment to relax amidst lush greenery and meticulously manicured gardens.

The golden stone buildings of Metz, made of local Jaumont limestone, give the town a warm, glowing hue. ❤❤❤

Oh yes! The soft, golden tones seem to change with the time of day, deepening in the late afternoon sun, which brings a sense of timelessness to the town. The natural vibrancy of the stone almost feels alive, reflecting Metz's blend of history, culture, and architectural splendor.
