Hi I was just wondering if you could share any more information or samples of this lens? I'm interested in picking it up but obviously it's expensive and so was wondering if you had some files I could look at?
Hello and thank you for the question! I really want to make a database of photos on my website but unfortunately I don't have much time to set it up. This lens is quite expensive but really unique in the format. If you have any specific questions I'd love to try to help out but I only took a few pictures with it and sold it several years ago.
@@TheWholePicture No worries, thank you for the response. I went to my local shop this morning and someone had already picked it up which is a real shame for me, been hunting for one for close to two years but oh well. Such is life. Would you mind telling me how the filter changes work? I intend to shoot this lens both on an M645 and adapted to a GFX.
Ah that’s a shame. It is quite a rare lens and I do kind of regret selling it. While it may be a more specialty lens it can be used for unique portraits or art photography quite nicely! I always recommend testing things out for yourself, unfortunately this lens has always been a bit pricy, but at least it will hold its value if you find it’s not for you. As far as the filters go, it’s an internal system that Is changed by a dial that If I remember correctly is near the built in hood of this lens. I’m not sure where the filter system is located within the lens itself. The filters are more for correcting colors i believe, so on digital it may not be as significant. I hope that helps if you have any questions feel free to ask!
Is there any way you’d be willing to share these images on Google drive or send a zip? They are incredible photos and I would love to have them to reference and to have as inspiration. I have a folder of photos that I keep to inspire me and motivate me. I shoot a lot of fisheye photography too, I grew up shooting skateboarding and used fisheye a lot for that, and not I shoot a lot of urban lifestyle photography that I use fisheye a lot for too. I’ve been looking into medium format camera/fisheye pairings that interest me and this pairing is amazing. I would really really appreciate if you’d be willing to share the photos with me.
There is no alternative native lens, but you might be able to rig up some custom solution and the Mamiya 645 flange is shorter than other medium format SLR systems so there might be adapters. Medium format fisheye lenses are not that common though so there might not be much information on adaptation like this.
@@TheWholePicture I’ve been looking everywhere to no luck! I love shooting medium format & I think a fisheye would take my photos to where I’d want them to be
This lens is certainly specially but unfortunately very expensive now a days… I hope you can find a good solution for your projects! You might want to look into anamorphic solutions for photography which can also give a very interesting and distorted image if you leave it compressed. A custom solution won’t get as wide but it i can be pretty reasonable compared to medium format fish eye lenses.
Yeah! There were quite a few 21~24mm f4 on 35mm so seeing that on medium format is impressive to say the least. I'm not too versed in other medium format SLR systems but between this fisheye and the 80mm 1.9 mamiya had a great and unique platform for the time!
@@TheWholePicture up until now I hadn't heard of a medium format lens under f 2.8, just amazing! you know of any ultra wide 35mm point and shoots besides the ultra wide and slim and that lomo lc-a?
It depends on the format, the larger you go (6x7 and larger) lenses tend to be slower but smaller formats like 645 have the Mamiya f1.9 and 66 has the norita 80mm f2! My favorite ultra wide compact is the Fuji film natura S. Other than that there is the Ricoh GR with a 21mm and a handful of other true ultra wides. For 28mm you get a lot more options like the fantastic Minolta tc-1 or the Olympus Xa4 and many more compacts!

yes there is. Use the ARSAT(Zodiak-8) 30mm f3.5 an adapter. It works great.
@@Madguruwhich adapter do you use?
Wow! 24mm in medium format is crazy 🤣
