Yeah i was in to all that spider-man, Batman stuff as a kid but when Canseco was up to bat my eyes were glued to the tv. I was never a really sporty kid, Much the opposite to tbh but he is a reason i watched baseball back then and still have a love for the game to this day.

I remember being 11 years old at an A's game back in 1988 during batting practice and Canseco walking towards the dugout. I asked for his autograph and he said, "No Autographs." I felt letdown, but I got over it. I still appreciate Jose, despite what he's been through. I even saw a special on him that was depressing in regards to losing his mansion, people wanting to start fights with him, and being served a subpoena at a baseball game. I felt bad for this man. What he did happened a long time ago. He didn't murder anyone for crying out loud.

He was no different in spring training at that same time. He would come into Phoenix Muni driving his red car at 100mph. (Before the street divided the parking lot). Him and his girl would get out. She would drive away in his car. He would walk right into the clubhouse. No signing for anyone at 7:45am in the morning. Never been a fan of his for that reason. This was his rookie and 2nd year with the team. He never signed one autograph.

I think he'd still be able to perform better than guys 20 years younger in an old timers game. I know he'd out perform me because I'm 20 years younger and trying to bring back what I had a year ago, hobbling around hoping my knees and elbows recover.

This is the point Canseco can hit the long ball because he is a huge guy. Pete Rose played MLB baseball because he was a great baseball player. Size matters so much in physical competition. Especially sports.
