I remember first going to Tampa in 1985. It really hasn't changed much. I4 was widened from 2 lanes each way but the skyline is basically the same.

@@321gates Not at all. In fact, I remember it like yesterday. Dale Mabry now is no wider and has no more stores than it did back then. Every lot was occupied and there were traffic signals every quarter mile or less. I remember it had a plaza about every 100 yards from Northdale/Bearss all the way to Houlihan (now Raymond James).
@@ChatGPT1111 The place has exploded and you pick Dale Mabry as your litmus test? DT has 10X the buildings, Channelside was nothing but parking lots back then and midtown wasn't even a place during the 80's.
@@321gates Exploded ? 🤣 With a 1% growth rate? 1% is an absolute joke. Exploding is what it did from 55-65 by more than doubling in size in one decade. By contrast the past 45 years, it has only gone up by 45%. Meanwhile Florida as a whole has gone up by way more than double that. Orlando where I live has tripled in size in that amount of time, 6x as fast as Tampa. Tampa is a desert of non-growth in Florida.

Regardless, your original claim was that you have seen no visible change in Tampa from 1985, which is ridiculous. The population has doubled since then with dozens of new high-rises built in and around downtown. Tampa didn't even have a skyline in 1985 as their were only 4 tall buildings downtown.
